  • Thanks Hamza!
Sorry noob about mechanical keyboards, how loud are green keys compared to the Blues?

Overall which keys are 'best' in all class? I heard Brown Keys are kinda best of all world?

There is no best. It's down to personal preference. Greens are louder than blues.

I've just come off learning A LOT about keyboards and switches as part of my own quest to buy my first mechanical.

Greens are, by all accounts, probably the worst of the Razer line and incredibly noisy. If you go with Razer the popular choice (and only worthwhile one according to most enthusiasts) is their yellow switches, which are their version of Red.

The most popular key type for most keyboards is Cherry Reds, if you're looking as what most popular boards use. Though many die hards swear by the Gateron Yellow switches you find in keyboards like the GK61 (which is a great keyboard if you don't mind it being 60%).

After all my research I ended up going for the HyperX Alloy Origins Core TKL keyboard with their Red switches. I got it for a steal at just $125 on amazon the other day. It arrived today and holy crap it feels amazing to type on. It's so satisfying, smooth and doesn't make as much noise as i thought it might. I also have PBT Pudding keycaps on the way for it too. Looks like the cheapest one on amazon at the moment is $145 now, though.

      • Thanks, I am currently using BlackWidow Tournament Edition 2014 TKL (Which I believe is a Razer Green)

Would you recommend anything decent that has full 104 keys? Don't want to break the banks so happy to keep an eye for future deals if I know what option(s) to look for in future.

        Thanks again

Hyperx alloy origins core full size keyboard is currently on special for around $105 pretty much everywhere (down from $229) which i think is a great deal.

          • @chul00p4: I checked Amazon… I couldn't find the full size with red switch, I could only find Blue switch
Do you have any working link?
            Thanks again

@Bappy: I can't post the link, but Catch.com.au have it in stock with the red switch for $104.
PCByte has the Aqua switch version in stock for the same price if you want a tactile switch.

I just happened to buy the same keyboard (and PBT keycaps) last night for a steal too! It was an Amazon US lightning deal. I hadn't done much research but saw the bargain and had to buy it (keyboard and PBT keycaps all up for AU$145.68).

Glad to hear that the keyboard is good - I watched a few reviews and top 10 lists on YouTube but it's better to read a review from someone local.

        • damn, you got a killer deal - beat me by about $20. I got the keyboard local and the caps from us, though.

I did pretty much the exact same thing as you haha. Also soooo many forum posts (damn, there are a lot of elitists out there). I almost went with the GK61 or a Ducky board, but this one just ticked a lot of boxes and ended up being a little cheaper than the same from Ducky. Also, as soon as I saw it was low profile casing i was sold. Coming from only using low profile boards and keys I wouldn't be able to go full chonk. This is a really nice ballance.

  • Gaming keyboard companies really need to make wrist rests standard. Only mech keyboard I'd buy atm is Steelseries Apex 7 because of this. Anyway enjoy arthritis everyone

The Elite version of this KB comes with a nice write guard, I got it $138 from Amazon last year.

most of the Coolermaster Masterkeys series come with wrist rests too. I am looking at the MK730 right now.

    • Buy your own wrist rest. The ones that come with the keyboard are terrible anyway.
