Great price on these, never seen them at this price.
Not for everyone, but fantastic sound quality for the size.

Are the KEF worth it or is there something better in this style/specs
wowsers i paid 1599 a year and a bit ago and LOVE mine
Not worth the potential tech hassles long term.
The wireless concept is appealing, but the execution of the connectivity tech is lacking and unreliable. KEF passive speakers are great (Q100, LS50) but for powered / wireless I'd look elsewhere
FWIW, personal exp
1. Living room - KEF Q100 + stereo AB amp (excellent stereo image)
2. Office (attempt) - KEF LSX (persist for 1month with connectivity and app issues (bluetooth/airplay) — 'warranty' issue, replaced and sold on)
3. Office (now) - Powered monitors + balanced preamp / headphone amp
4. Anywhere - HomePod for wireless speaker (excellent sound and reliable wireless)
thanks lmw, thought that may be the case. I auditoned a pair of ls50s a few years ago and they were pretty good but decided to keep my orpheus apollos (floorstanding). moving into a new house soon and wife doesnt want the orpheus in the living room so need something more minimalist. I may revisit the ls50s. cheers
The LSX takes SPDIF optical and analogue stereo input so I should be able to drive this from a SPDIF optical output from my PC or from a USB DAC into the analogue input (I've got a Burson Conductor 3XP). I'm not too fussy with the quality. I mean it has to be way better than the Audioengine HD3s I'm currently running right?
Should be fine, the LSX has internal DAC/power amp so you can phys connect via optical from PC or analog RCA from your DAC — preference
Unless you're keen on the particular physical appearance of the LSX — I'd strongly rec. studio monitors for the desk or have an audition in the price range if possible. When I was looking for the LSX replacement it was a decision between Neumann KH80 and Genelec 8020 (size and quality requirement). The bonus is they are both made from solid aluminium, awesome!
ps. matrix lab is lit ;)
why do you mention the connectivity tech being unreliable, ive had mine a year and find them flawless
Mentioned because it was unreliable — reviews on the app store show it's not just me.

App is used for firmware updates, remote control, and onboarding for AirPlay.
Connectivity issues for many of the reviewers.
Yea so in all honesty I can get the initial setup complaint but after that it's been flawless for myself whether it be using an old apple device for airplay but mainly bt from my android or plugged directly into my vinyl player Ive honestly had zero issues.
I have a pair, and the LS50s.
Have them connected via optical and note it can’t connect via USB.
Overall it’s a pretty good package for the price, get a set of desk stands for a PC (eg Kanto), and later on upgrade to a sub.
Apple airplay has worked well so have no complaints.
Just pulled a trigger after so much thinking and consideration, lol
Is there version 2 coming out soon hence the discount?
Apparently so, or at least I read it here:

Thanks will wait
I was tossing up whether to get these or wait. The connection issues and the current app sounds meh, but the new model will undoubtedly be much more expensive at launch!
Would be better off getting q550, kube 8 and a cheap amp
nice price, will complement the new Spotify HiFi subscription out later in the year rather well too.
