IMOUDOME

Back again with another security camera deal from Imou and this time it's the Dome Lite. My plan is to get all their cameras discounted at least once so I'm happy to take requests.

It's a pretty simple camera that has motion sensor that will detect and alert you to movement, night vision with IR and WiFi or Ethernet (no PoE) for connectivity. For storage it supports MicroSD, Cloud or NVR. There's also an app for iOS, Android, PC and it supports RTSP/ONVIF.

  • Apply the coupon IMOUDOME at checkout

URL for RTSP on most Imou Cameras:

rtsp://admin:<safetycode>@<ipaddress>:554/cam/realmonitor?channel=1&subtype=0&unicast=true&proto=Onvif

Safety code is found on the bottom of the camera.

  • do they have dashcam ?

    • No they don't. Only security cameras.

These cameras (I have 4 like this, all based on some generic chipset, forgot the name, "hikvision"?) are utter crap even though they have good specs like "onvif", "h265", in practice they keep interrupting the stream, especially when there are 2 (yes, just two) rtsp clients. The normal price is ~30$ really.

EZVIZ? That's the new name Hikvision is hiding under. Besides my own actual Dahua cameras, I think the Ranger 2 is certainly good. I even picked up the 4MP version from AliExpress a while ago.

      • how many connected vlc's can it handle? :) to make it easier, channel "2" for lower resolution.

          Made it to 10.

          • @Clear: thanks, ordered one, will see how it goes

          • @Clear: got it. sorry but yet another disappointment. same crap pretty much but the software is worse - no onvif, no working out of box rtsp, the usual asking for email and mandatory non empty password. the app is horrendous :-(

no ptz (except in its stupid app), amazing.

            not cool bro.

    • they are based on the SSC325x series cost-effective IPC solution .

    • onvif is just a standard to interconnect security equipment. it has nothing to do with internal CCD or picture quality. so is h265 which is a video compression format

      • I'm missing the point in your comment. should i expect interruptions in rtsp stream? if so, then whyyyy

        • the point was that "onvif", "h265" don't mean the camera has "good specs", like leather seats and alloy wheels in a car don't necessarily make it a good car.

we never seen a hikvision with the 2 streams interruption problem. updating firmware and/or adjusting bandwidth usually helps with lags.

    • does it actually do onvif with a nvr? my nvr doesn't do rtsp, i don't think any nvr does, unless it's it's software based on a pc.

      • yes it can. but u need to initialise it first.

Wouldn't a Bullet 2C / 2E be better value than this and pretty much the same features (+ outdoor). Or does the dome form factor preferred in some cases?

    • yes i agree with you.. this one is not really a deal..

  • Still relying on power cables to operate so Wi-Fi makes little difference.

    • well, it's possible that power is close but ethernet is far…

      • +1

rare situation, but if it is then ethernet over powerline will be better than camera Wi-Fi. for longer distances wireless bridge like Ubiquity is a more adequate solution.
