Save your back and buy a balance bike. The transition from a balance bike to pedals is easy, but the transition from training wheels to none is not.

      • +1

Yep, we're on the balance bike already! 👊👍

Agree on the training wheels, a nightmare to move on from!

I'd double check that this bike is not too small. In my experience kids grow fast.

  • +1

Heavy, especially for a 3yo. Would buy again for $40 tho.

This is an excellent example of a landfill bike. Might be good for obese kids to get some workouts but no for a pleasant riding experience.

  • Thanks OP. Nice Bargain

  • Thanks OP. Just ordered for my toddler.

  • Thanks OP. Got one for my daughter.

  • Thanks OP. Ordered one!

  • rear coaster brake…is this good for toddler learning to ride?

    • So from zero riding experience? I would recommend a balance bike. Apparently toddlers find hand brakes difficult to use, which is why using their feet as a brake is often easier to grasp.

      • little one is good on a balance bike. thinking to stick with the balance bike for bit longer until theyre ready to start with hand brake. any merit in that?

        • From what I understand you go straight from balance bike to a regular bike, the difficulty comes in getting used to using pedals and brakes. I think it's more to do with hand-eye co-ordination with the difficulty in using the hand brake; that being said, almost every kids bike comes with a coaster brake.

How old/big is the kid? My kiddo has been zipping around on a balance bike since he was 18mo. Now 3.5yo. Grandparents got him the bluey bike last Xmas.

As I mentioned above, it is heavy. Especially relative to his zippy little aluminium balance bike. He has a hard time getting sufficient speed to get balance. For the time being it is handy just to get him exposed to pedalling and braking but I suspect he'll need to be at least 4, maybe 4.5 until he's strong enough for it. FWIW he's a bit above average height/weight and he's reasonably strong/athletic.

Ideal for children ages 3-6 years with height range between 85cm-100cm….. my not even 3 yr old is already 102cm….

    • I agree, my 4 year old is 123cm…

      • That's quite extraordinary, have you consulted a GP about that? Might need to get them checked for an excess level of growth hormone.

        • Yeah, 123cm is off the charts even if they're about to turn 5. Definitely worth having a chat to a GP, especially if the parents aren't super tall. If nothing else they'll want to keep tabs on growth velocity.

This is a very small bike and once your child is developed enough to start riding it they will likely be too big for it.

Cheers, ordered for almost 2 year old niece, it might need to stay in the box until Christmas.
