UPDATE: Regular box 10700K now cheaper at Amazon AU ($334.34) https://www.amazon.com.au/Intel-i7-10700K-3-80GHz-LGA1200-Cl…
These eBay options may still be better for some if paying with gift cards and/or you want the free games.

Core i9-10900F

Plenty of Ryzen deals here lately but these are good alternatives on the Intel side, more cores and cheaper than both 5600X (for the i7) and 5800X (for the i9). I'd assume cheapest ever for these.

The regular box 10700K is also available from Computer Alliance here for $356.15 plus you may be able to claim a couple of free games (Chivalry 2 and Hitman 3).

Harris Technology also have both these CPUs listed for 20c cheaper, but the free games aren't advertised for the 10700K and limited quantity for the 10900F.

Note that the 10700K (Avengers Edition) linked to in this deal says "Last one" available but they seem to keep restocking (they likely have many more, but doing this as a tactic to get people to panic buy). It's "In Stock" on their website.

This game is still coming with CPUs? I wonder if it can be flipped

    • You get a master key to claim both games, at most you'd get $50 for both

Regular box 10700K is even cheaper at Amazon AU - added an update to the OP.

    10900 is very underrated

    • Only because Intel are trying to compete with AMD which will soon get to use the 5mn node by the time Intel properly transitions to 10nm

  • A genuine question. What are the advantages of buying this over AMD 5000 if its not for the price?

    • +17

      Stable usb connection

      • Hasn't that been fixed by a motherboard firmware update?

Quicksync, if you’re putting it in a Plex sever.

      • +1

Couldn't you just use an AMD alternative transcoder?

        • +2

AMD doesn't have a direct quicksync alternative, just the regular CPU encoding options available to all CPUs.

          • +1

@MHLoppy: They do, but only on their chips with igpus. And obviously any recent gpu will have hw transcoding as well.

Gaming performance as higher core clocks, but if you want intensive multi core workloads go with AMD Ryzen 5th gen

    • +8

Has integrated gpu so you can use the 10700K while you hunt for a graphics card

It's cheaper and is about 3 bees dicks less than a 5600X for gaming.

      • +3

What? Anandtech has the 10700 at 174.0 mm2 while techarp up has the 5600X at 80.7 mm² + 125 mm².

No I have no idea if you where referring to length, surface area or cross sectional area. I am going with cross sectional area. 0.25mm * 0.05mm = 0.0125mm. That put's the difference for gaming at about 2,536 bee dicks. But…

AMD uses two different processes. The CPU cores (or CCD in AMD speak) is on a newer process technology than the I/O block (as I/O will not see the same performance improvements from process jumps). A bees dick is the wrong measurement to use to compare the two unless you can measure Intel's CPU cores separately then multiply by the difference in density between the different processes they use.

This Guy obviously didn't get it.

          • @ganymede: Please explain? I think I am about three bees dicks from understanding.

  • not bad with cheap z490, if don't care power consumption, also performance is close to 5800x after OC.

It is winter so doubles as a good heater

  • man what's with all the cpu specials urgh. just bought the 5600x and this seems spec wise to performa bit better

    • Yeah but you should consider the cost of needing a more expensive Z490 board (compared to cheaper B550) and a cooler. If the stock wraith cooler with the 5600x is sufficient enough for you and you got a reasonably priced B550 you're likely to still be ahead price wise.

      • You don't need a z board to run a K CPU. B560 is enough

        • No overclocking though.

      • thats why i stay on locked cpus lol. aint spending way more for only a few% increase

      • $149-$169 doesn’t seem expensive:

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/630248

        • Yeah but Asrock… There’s been B550 Tomahawks posted on here for around the same price. I’ve seen Asrock B550 boards under $100 recently.

    • 5600x might also have better resale later on, not because it's a whole lot more powerful but it has a strong perception of being the industry leader

      • I believe people still believe intel is better.

        • It is quite subjective, Amd has been the value for money option for the last few years, and are now the industry leader in all respects. Intel might turn it around in the next release cycle but people will be swayed by the benchmarks eventually.

  • Anyone know a good value z490 motherboard?

  • amazon price has gone back up to $399… just as I was about to order too

  • FML, Scorptec isnt a part of the promotion!!
