Plantronics C120-M - Only Pay $4.99 for Shipping - ChatandVision Skype Deal

322

got an email from skype with the promotion free Plantronics C120-M only pay for shipping
the original price is about $29 but it seems all you need is a skype ID to claim.

http://shop.skype.com/manufacturers/plantronics/

the email has my skype ID on it but it clearly states that its Plantronics C120-M also there is no promo code needed!
"As a special thank you for being a valued Skype customer, we’d like to give you a Plantronics headset worth $28.99. It’s just our small way of saying thanks a lot and all you’ll need to pay is $4.99 for shipping."

  • what's the promo code? Clicking on the link only loads the $4.99 shipping.

    • +1

as I said you have to pay $4.99 shipping but if you can find a promo code maybe you can get shipping free also?

      • -5

Sorry dude you need a promo code to get the deal otherwise its full price + free shipping. Either you provide the promo code or this is no deal and you'll end up getting a lot of negs.

        • have you tried to enter your details and then click a payment option?

        • the promo code is for an extra discount

next time I wont bother posting thanx dude

  • The link you provided has a cart with only:

Only pay for Shipping! $A 4.93.

But there is no mention of a product.
They also request the Skype ID from the email.

    • the original email has my skype ID on it

      • So will they maybe check the Skype ID we enter and realise we aren't eligible if we didn't receive the email?

        • I doubt they will check the id as the email said they only had a certain number available if your paypal payment goes through it should be good.

  • I placed order, but my Chatandvision.com account just says
'only pay for shipping x1 3.18 Order info received' (paid in pounds as have no exchange fee, but could have got price in au$ on first page)
I did not enter Skype account as it took my details without asking.

thankyou for validating this is available to anyone

      • No - thank you!!!
So it has expired - had to be quick as few were left.
While everyone was arguing, these were disappearing so quick!

        • +2

no it has not expired yet I got neged for trying to explain that no promo code was needed so I marked the deal as expired, but the link works more than twice as i have purchased a few for friends.

  • +2

I have successfully placed an order but I have some doubt as to what the actual product is.

Congratulations! You have successfully placed an order for Only pay for Shipping!

The order and confirmation pages call the mystery product "Only pay for Shipping", but there were no mention of any Plantronics headset. Did I just pay $4.93 for an empty box?

    • Sounds like it.

    • Yeah, I had the same thing too. We'll find out in 21 days huh!

    • Would be a strange order system that charged for shipping without ordering a product!!
The original linked page showed an order for '1' & only pay shipping. It assumes you got the original email & know what you are ordering.
So should be OK, even if a bit strange as order confirmation email & new account established by the order do not indicate anything was bought, just pay shipping.
      I don't mind a $4.93 surprise in 21 WORKING DAYS. I've had a few laughs already.
Tried it again at 20:05 - worked OK.
      Thanks OP!!

  • also bought it
we'll see if anything arrives haha

  • +1

I also went to the page (http://shop.skype.com/manufacturers/plantronics/) and selected more info for the C120-M. Then I selected buy and was redirected to the purchase page with the offer to purchase it at shipping only cost. All looks legit otherwise we have all just purchased some "shipping only". Can't wait!

    • Well i don't see anything like that.
All that comes up is the $28.99 price, but it does have commonly bought with this offer, but it doesn't take away the original fee.

OPs post does link to the "Only Pay Shipping" but there is absolutley no mention of what the product is.
Not without the original email anyway.

Maybe I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth, but this all seems strange.

      • +2

I could photo shop the email and then post it but then this deal would be gone before I explained you dont need a promo code

        • I have my doubts, but I have taken the gamble….

  • Still 88 left

    • 38 sold since your first purchase and only 4 positive votes, have you got big shipment on the way?

      • +1

Two - 1 for each head.
A lot have sold to a few OzBargainers too grumpy to '+'!!

They're a weird mob. When I pointed out another deal didn't exist, it was just a mistake on the supplier's system, and the product had not been produced in years - almost everyone ignored that & bought nothing madly! Despite warning them they were wastimg their time, they took no responsiblty for their crazy actions & were angry with the business who knew nothing of a bargain posted on OzBargain. The poor trader took days to refund thousands of orders for nothing.

You are having a hard time trying to be helpful.
        Thanks from me.

        • To "vote +" means I give the deal my endorsement. I am hesitant to do that in case we lost our gamble and receive $4.93 worth of air in 21 days time.

If there wasn't a stuff up in the ordering system then it is a definite +. But as it stands, you should decide for yourselves whether this gamble is worth it.

        • +1

I've seen a ridiculously large number of '+' for that deal I had warned did not exist. It didn't. The rush to place orders for nothing just went crazy. More '+'s drew in more of the mob blindly buying nothing. No logical argument could stop them. I didn't dare neg that one as I have been abused by the mob before when I pointed out a dodgie deal.

So it is always good to be cautious, but this deal has a lot of supporting proof that it does exist. I am grateful for the OP's post.

        • "Nothing" is on special. Price massively reduced. Limited time only and stocks won't last, so hurry!

          :-)

        • Well I got this deal wrong - we were ordering nothing!

But it looks like it will work out well for those who ordered. The company could have simply cancelled the orders. To offer basically the same deal to us with Skype credit for a bit more - I am happy. (I'm down to about $2.50 credit)

  • You can add any item to your order/cart and the "Only pay for shipping" option is there. No details on what this means but when you then delete the actual product you are left with "Only pay for shipping" in your cart and nothing else.

    • +1

If you notice, they have over 28000 of these,
but only 73 once you click "Only pay for shipping"
I doubt there only 73 shipping available for that many of them.
BESIDES, shipping is free with full price item.
      http://au.chatandvision.com/display/ws_view?page=ws_shipping

As for 'only pay shipping' deal shows no matter what you are ordering… Like most sales sites, it is showing what is a popular item selling at the moment - this one.

  • why is it marked expired? i just ordered one. how do you know how many are left?

    • +1

Shows under the quantity you order box - currently 63.
You should be happy you found a hidden OzBargain!!
Next time, use the secret handshake.

  • I'm under the impression that the "Only pay for shipping" is a separate item you add to your order in order to reduce the item cost to zero and to only pay for shipping. It was working before but it doesn't seem to reduce the price of other items anymore. So if you go to checkout with only the "Only pay for shipping", you are essentially paying for shipping for no item. Well that's the my impression of what's happening.

    • +1

NO! See my comment on this above - WORLDWIDE SHIPPING IS FREE on paid items. Also shows the number of this deal available - falling from 126 down to about 60 now.

      • +1

I'm just pointing out my observations. When I was playing around with the site before, I had noticed that if you added the "Only pay for shipping" item to another item, say one of the other headsets, the price of said headset was reduced to zero and your total cost comes to just the cost of shipping based on the "Only pay for shipping" item. However, when i try to do the same now, the cost of the other items isn't reduced at all.

P.S. you're assuming their system isn't making you pay for shipping with no item. I'm instead assuming that its possible that their system is doing that, based on my observations.

        • Yes, noticed your different approach to same problem. But I tried many ways to reduce price to zero via the normal sales site since this deal went up & it did not reduce to $0. I think I saw it reduce to $0 on the linked order…

Since the original deal was "As a special thank you for being a valued Skype customer, we’d like to give you a Plantronics headset worth $28.99. It’s just our small way of saying thanks a lot and all you’ll need to pay is $4.99 for shipping." I don't see any reason to doubt the OP.

    • I don't know what you were doing, but if you order a Plantronics C120-M it charges $28, add 'only pay shipping' & price increases to $33 - not reduced. Tried that a few times since start of this post & has not changed - as it is tricky to understand what you are getting.

      • Yeah i don't know how i managed it either. I can't seem to reproduce the results anymore. But i'm concerned with the fact that you mentioned that on your invoice/confirmation email that no item was listed as being bought, just the shipping.

edit: on the other hand the available number of the Plantronics C120-M and the Only Pay for Shipping! items, when both in the cart, both quantities remaining are the same. Currently at 56 left as of 10:28pm AEST.

        • +1

Thanks for the effort - just wish this deal was clearer so we wouldn't have to go to this trouble… in time we'll know.

In my cart, the full price & 'only pay shipping' show different numbers… mine is in us$, so may be different pages causing different results???

Now 28228 full price & 'only pay shipping' 44 left.

By the way, I am on AEST, you should be on AEDT unless time travelling - another confusing thing for a Northerner.

        • eek, yes you're right. AEDT not AEST. Forgot all about daylight saving :P

        • At least we agree on that. LOL

  • good deal but very bad website.

    Why don't they show "Plantronics C120-M - $0" on the receipt ??

    • It assumes you received the original email offer…
Agree - poor order system that needed a non-description that would not detract from sales of the 28000 of these at full price. But as you say - why didn't it describe the deal on the receipt.

  • has anyone managed to find an official Plantronics product page with a proper list of specs? Or some other page with a proper list of specs? I can't seem to find any. The Skype product page doesn't have much info. It's as if these headsets were specifically made for Skype only.

    • +2

      does this help?

      http://shop.skype.com/intl/en-au/headsets/usb/plantronics-audio-c120m/?cm_mmc=EMAD|2045_B1-_-0600_020212AUen&ed_rid=BMW6SCV-04AONK-BVT336-DUINAJY-U5824V-v1&ed_mid=22119057

      looks kinda messy?

that's why I did'nt include it before, if you think this deal is a scam don't worry I'm not from Nigeria!

      it has a usb plug

      • nah, I was hoping for more hardware numbers. Being a "40mm speaker driver" doesn't really provide much info. It's good that they list features and such under details, but would have been nice if they provided more info under Technical Specs.

        • +5

it's only 5 bucks dude cmon stop breakin my balls

  • +1

Received the confirmation email. Hopefully the headset shows up soon after!

  • +1

21 or so business days later you will be getting something in the mail, and will probably have minimal recollection of ordering it….

  • weird.

  • A "+" just for the mystery :o)

  • Prodigy can you post a picture of the email?

I got a prepaid card with $11 on it and was planning on getting something, but rather get this.

But if I get a box of nothing then I will be pissed.

    Edit:

  • I did it.

If it turns out we are going to get nothing who can I contact to get a refund?

    • Easy…if you paid via credit card, and you receive an empty box, just dispute the credit card transaction with your bank. They'll reverse it until the company can show you bought something, and for $4 virtually every company would just let it slide.

      • Yes but I use prepaid cards. Does that matter?

  • -6

I couldnt get it to show up with the headset as $0…

  • "Congratulations! You have successfully placed an order for Only pay for Shipping!"

I am gambling $5 to get nothing or headset, we'll see in 21 days heh…

    • +2

better deal than a mystery box from zazz/cotd.

  • +1

Good deal, thanks. Even if I dont get the headset it was cheap entertainment,

  • +1

Deal seems legit to me. If you look at the URL to the deal, it says 'add promotion' and has an item number.

Well, we'll find out in a few weeks.

    '+' from me

  • Um which link I click to?

  • There was 18 in stock last night now 37 units in stock?

  • only pay for shipping comes up on all headsets…?

  • All i have got was one email so far with this : "Purchase Summary:
    Order No:xxxxxx
    Order Date: 4th Feb 2012"
How did you get the item number to appear in your order? now i'm a bit worried too that i will get a empty box. how do i cancel the order?
also on the website it sates"At ChatandVision, we try and offer our customers the best deal possible and there’s nothing like a good freebie! As a result, ChatandVision has teamed up with Skype so that all orders automatically qualify for “Up to 60 Minutes Free Credit from Skype“.That’s right – ALL orders get free Skype credit for making calls to landlines and mobiles all over the world!Taking advantage of this offer couldn’t be simpler; once you’ve completed a purchase you will receive an order confirmation e-mail which will contain a unique 16-digit promotional code which can be redeemed at Skype.com/voucher." i didnt get an email with a unique code yet, has anyone?

    • I got the same…(look above).

    • Having purchased during a Skype free minutes promo before, the code is sent after the order is processed, which hasn't happened yet.

Like free shipping, I'd say the free minutes was only part of the promo to sell the paid product.

I think we are expecting a bit much to expect free Skype with our mystery headset & post for under $5. Still, it will be interesting to see what we get.

  • I'm relying on paypal as my safety net here - if they ship an empty box, file a paypal dispute.

    • But on what grounds?
You orderd a "Only Pay For Shipping" which was successfully delivered.

You have no email stating product or otherwise, what you ordered.

  • +1

item number only appears on the webpage, not in the email. Either way I think that item number is the shipping number not an actual product number. We'll see what happens anyway. Nothing to worry about as paypal will happily reverse if there's anything dodgy.

Also this is an official Skype partner so I very much doubt that they will engage in deception. It's just a simple case of a poorly designed webpage. You'll either get a headset or a refund from them. I'll bet my house on it. There's no conspiracy.

    • Yes thats what I'm thinking.

  • +1

I am usually hesitant with deals like this - and have a good track record of spotting non-deals.
I bought as soon as this deal appeared.
The URL in the link https://au.chatandvision.com/product_skype_promotion/add_pro… shows this is a Skype product promotion.
The OPs copy of the promo email goes along with it.
It is a Skype partner that sells these items.
All adds up to a good cheap deal to me.

  • Bought. Awesome offer, cheers Prodigy!

    • How come it says the deal is expired?

  • +1

PLEASE NOTE THE LINK has a hidden URL that is for the selected SkypeIDs who received these offers from Skype only.
The email has a unique promotional code embedded into the link to where it can be purchased.

By clicking onto the link (from the email selected Skype customers are offered), you will have both products and free delivery loaded up.
By using the link provided in this thread, you are only loading up the delivery product sku and not the product!

This is a misplaced offer from this thread

    • How do you know that the link in the thread is useless?

What I did was add the plantronics to my cart and then added the Add free shipping! and then removed the plantronics.

I guessing I did it wrong and have to do it again??

    • -1

Yep. Unless people have the item also in their cart then they are buying … ummmmm … shipping of air.

It's a glitch in their system, but a couple of people seem to be hung up on the fact that just the free shipping means they are also getting a headset that was invisible in their order.

      • Then how do I get the offer?

        Do I need the email?

I signed up for Skype a few months ago and never go this deal…

      • Told yas!

    • Besides waiting 21 days for our mystery product, another way to check this deal is for Prodigy (OP) to post his order confirmation e-mail and compare it with ours. Not trying to break your balls Prodigy but let us see your order confirmation.

The relevant section of my order confirmation reads:

      Qty Product Unit Price Total
      1 Only pay for Shipping! 4.93 4.93
      Cost of Items 4.93
      Currency AUD
      Grand Total 4.93
  • How did you even get the email?

  • This is not a system glitch, is the assumption in this thread that buying a 'Only pay for shipping' sku will also receive a headset which is not described in the system.
You will need a unique promotional code to activate the promotion. With the code, you will have a headset included in the checkout process.
See information with a valid promotional code

      • Probably going to be a whole lot of "WTF" at the chatandvision office tomorrow.

The links have expired now too.

  • Hi,

This is what should have look liked with the appropriate promotional code.
    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/140/skypepromotion.jpg/

I assume the email is probably some form of Skype promotion to a segment of the customers. With over 600 registered million users, I doubt they will send out the offer at one go.

  • What the hell is happening…are we gonna get empty stuff shipped or are they going to refund us or ship the correct stuff

    • Refund, I hope.

      • Tell us if you get a refund.

I sent a email to chatandvision.

  • +1

Thank you for your recent purchase of:

    1x Only pay for Shipping!

Unfortunately, as an attempt was made to purchase this without a valid promotion code, we like to inform you that the order is void and has been cancelled.

You are able to purchase Plantronics C120-M USB Stereo Headset (Black) + $10 Skype Credit for only AUD9.99 instead of AUD37.85.

    • Ditto.

    • did they give you a promo code or just a link for that deal?

    • got the same information, OP mislead and said there was no promo code.

    • I got the same thing, but tbh, its not a bad deal. Skype creidt aint bad sitting in front of the computer and it look like an ok headset…

however, until the original transaction gets reversed im not going to be going thru with it.

  • Its a link with a promo code hidden in the link which is applied automatically. I won't be posting that up, thats mine ;)

    • ah bugga, maybe I should have bought a box of air so that I could get the $10 deal :P
