  • Nice deal, cheaper than anything on staticice by ca. $40. http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?search&q=syno…

Given you guys have got good US connections, you ever thought of importing the Drobo into Australia?

    • Thank you for your suggestion, i have pass this information to our product manager =)

      • Thanks for that, appreciate it.

  • Somebody in Australia is finally stocking Synology's terrific products!

I've been a very happy user of a DS101j since 2005. That now lives as a web server at my parent's place. I have purchased a DS107+ recently. Excellent value for money!

  • Leaving anything switched on 24/7 is likely to add to your power bill. At least with a USB enclosure you are more likely to switch it off after you are done with it. Also; wireless network file transfers are notoriously slow.

  • It consumes 12W. So it shouldn't be a great drain on your $$$.

Much better to use this box as a web server than a full sized tower which will have a 400W power supply unit.

    • Exactly. Note that this is NOT just an external hard disk — this is a NAS in a box. Actually, no, it is more than just a NAS — it has a lot of features built in that allow you to do things like checking your bittorrent download status from work. Uses much less energy than a full blown server as well.
