sbob, how about you drop the sarcasm, and give the first time poster time to make some adjustments? before you neg thier deal? Jumping on a first time poster, 3 minutes after thier post, helps no one, and is counter productive ozbargain as a "community"

    • but their post contained pretty much no useable details…
being a 1st poster isn't an excuse because I'm sure they have read plenty of other posts on here…
Writing something like 'Buy 2 lunches get one free' or 'Buy 5 dinners get one free' would have at least spelled out the deal, rather than 'amazing promotion'. My one sentence 'sarcasm' included the basics which now mean others don't have to click the link just to know what the 'deal' is…

my 1st post was a couple of weeks ago and I managed to include some rather useful details (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/61593)

      • +6

At least he did not post "My 1st post, please go easy on me"

That is more annoying than not posting enough details.

I agree with Tal_Shiar, sarcasm is not going to be much help. Instead of encouraging 1st time posters, your comments would put them off from posting.

You could have assisted the post by entering details which the op might have missed. Your comments of "Buying 2 meals get a 3rd free" still requires me to click on the link :p

and since I live in the area, this deal gets + 1 from me

    • +2

I don't live in the area, but since I can still physically haul my carcass out from in front of the monitor and move further than my mail box, I'll give it a +1 too.

China Bar Signature is awesome, and this deal represents a signifigant savings.

      • Yes, this is the one restaurant I travel from one side of the city to the other for.

  • Sorry, the picture's just a preview. It's a lunch and dinner deal (confirmed)

    • Title and description are very poor, saving what?

      • -5

Saving $29-$33 (depending on the day) for a high-quality, all-you-can-eat asian (mostly Cantonese) buffet. And it is high quality.

        • +2

Maybe you're right about quality but I won't relay on your comment because you said it too many times, it sounds like advertising.
Also I can have asian buffet in CBD and fill my tummy until I die with fresh big prawns and oysters etc. etc etc.

        • +3

          2nd that - sounds suss
The only other comment this account has made is to defend china bar signature
          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/45899#comment-484221
"another amazing promotion" - sounds like marketing.

        • My 2 cents is quality used to be high when it was first opened but it's just average recently.

On the other hand, Dinner is buy 5 get 1 free in the city? I'm only aware of ChinaBar Shabu Shabu($39 for dinner) which is very different from Burwood buffet(start from $55 for dinner).

        • +1

Engineeringprof is correct. The OP is a rep. Please hit the report button if you have suspicions as I only happened to stumble upon this thread.

  • Great foods, great savings. Thanks OP!!!

    • +2

I love the foods there, been there few times and I think buy 2 get a free meal is a bargain. Am I not allowed to post my opinion? Grr…..

  • -5

Not that good of a deal… have to eat there too many times to save. Unless you want to be the size of a house I'm betting most regular to even slightly larger people wont be going to all you can eat more than once in a while. And even so they'd probably vary their selection.

    • It says buy 2 in one bill, doesn't that mean you can go with 2 friends and share the bill between the 3? ($29x2)/3… so about $19 each… right? right?

    • +2

yeh, who would ever go and eat there 3 times. way too many times…

as i'm sure noone would be clever enough going there with a group of 3 or more and split it amongst you on the first visit…nah, who would ever consider this.

  • +1

I do love my china bar… cause its fkn cheap, high quality my ass. Admittedly I haven't tried the buffet chains, but seriously, cmon. Good to know about the deal but don't fake being a rep ffs.

    • Sorry I came across that way. It was a knee-jerk reaction to the negativity. Honestly, the first time I heard of this place, my reaction was the same as yours; regular China Bar is average, at best. My mate was having a birthday dinner here, and I asked, "Really? China Bar for your birthday? OK…" But he was right, it is better.

    • The ones in plazas are average at best. The buffet chains are extremely high quality.

  • +2

I've been to China Bar Signature in Burwood 3 times for dinner. Each time I stuff myself with at least 2 dozen oysters (fresh), 4-5 serves of Salmon, Tuna and Yellow Tail Sashimi (fresh), 2-3 serves of Peking Duck (if they have it).

There are heaps of other dim sims as well and cooked food. Rice, congee, chicken, fish, pork and desserts.

Very worth it if you go with a huge group who can EAT. Actually a good deal for big families so a plus from me.

But not worth it if you go by yourself because you will not be able to eat $55 worth of food (too filling) :p which is why I only eat the seafood like oysters and sashimi and other food which is usually expensive.

My sock puppet sense is tingling in the comments of this post.

    • Anytime you see too many comments like fantastic, amazing, definitely the way to go and other BS but the product is just nothing exciting, then yes I SENSE IT! http://www.conservativeimage.com/Star%20Wars%20-%20I%20Sense…

      • +2

The OP was undeclared. All the commenters here so far are long time users and are not sockpuppets/astroturfers. Every vote and comment posted is checked. If you have suspicions report them.

        • How may I have a suspicion if it was declared the green way?

        • Green way?

        • I meant about "undercleared" by a mod and so mine is still an opinion as well as other users have the option to neg me still no prob.

        • +1

Sorry, I still don't understand what you are asking. The OP didn't click the rep box when clearly the OP is a rep. The commenters on this thread are not associated. Point being is hit the REPORT button so we can investigate rather than post comments that may or may not be true where a moderator might not see it.

On topic: I always try to eat at the China bar on Russell St but unfortunately it is right next to Stalactyes which is hard to pass on.

        • My point is that I expressed my opinion, like any others, I might be right or wrong, but now this seems an issue.

I had no chance (no option) to just delete my post so you could do it and no more issue.

  • Good deal I guess, China bar over food star any day but then again It's like double the price so I guess this deal would be worth it with a big family

  • -1

Thanks but if I want to eat chinese I'll stay at home and gorge myself on $1 KIMCHI RAMYUN authentic chinese noodles.

    • how is Kimchi Ramyun Chinese?

      • -1

It does not matter as long as it's cheap and good, we are on ozbargain.

  • +2

whys all the good stuff in melbourne <_<

    • +3

      'cause we're rad.

  • I received the Buy 2-get 1 free email as well yest. While prowsing thru their website, came across this: http://chinabarsignature.com/voucher/voucher.html

It's a much better deal imho but you just need to fork out the initial outlay $288, but this buys you all of 13 meals at China Bar, 6 w/day Lunch (works out to $15.32 each compared to U/P $29), 4 w/day dinner ($29.06), etc.

Anyway, I popped over to the restaurant (live nearby), and as usual it was jam-packed with customers, & bought a Booklet.

Nb. Deal is you're allowed max 2 vouchers from 1 booklet per sitting/day, but China Bar fella told me they freely allow combos from diff booklets, so say you want 10 pax, u need 2 x vouchers from each of 5 booklets. I'm rounding up coupla relos/frens to get booklets (50 left I'm told), so we can combine vouchers for a large gathering!

    • I wish they'd make an alternative to that deal with only lunches, we can't go out for dinner with our schedules :(

  • so why did my negative vote get revoked?
    hrmmm….

    • because you were wrong….

    • The community voted down your comment attached to your vote, thus your vote was revoked automatically.

      • -3

agree with you julz- u would have to eat there heaps to save a bit. i went there during dec and it was $55 pp for dinner with no drink included. a glass of coke set me back $5! some really nice food, great variety, but also some pretty poor food as well. I can eat like a horse and still didnt feel like i got my monies worth!

        • did ppl neg me coz i'm a horse? poor form to the neggers out there.

        • Because they had some spare negs to give out before the end of the day……
