Does this work out cheaper than private health cover?

If you can afford to keep an AED please add it to your respective states first-responder network. It can literally help save a life!

and make sure you keep the batteries charged. heard of someone dying even though the first-aider had access to an AED, it was flat.

Here's one of them, but there may be more out there:
          https://aed.stjohn.org.au/

        • It will depend on your state, WA uses St John first responder. I believe most other states use goodsam. They should all be somewhat interconnected

      • Unfortunately, batteries are the biggest cost to AED's and often aren't rechargeable. However, they do last for several years

  • "Delivers up to 360J for more effective shocks". This is a misleading statement as Joules along don't mean anything. Energy delivered over time with impedance is the correct formula. Actually impedance compensated shock with 200J delivered over 4 to 6 milliseconds are just as effective and reduce electric damage to heart muscles. Its like holding your hand over a candle flame the bigger the flame and the longer you hold your hand over it the more damage the heart tissue gets from the shock. And with each shock delivered the more tissue damage hence less chance of revival.

  • Some AEDs have batteries that last up to 5 years with regular battery self health checks so will alarm when its getting to the end of life in advance.
