Any decent air comrpessor will pull 20-40 amps. Not sure that connection into the jump starter looks like it is rated for that…. Would be OK for LED lights, fridge etc but would be cautious with a compressor.

I think this is intended for more basic air compressors which are meant for cigarette lighter sockets, where most are limited to 10 amps/120 W anyways.

    • +1

car cig lighters are generally 10amps MAX..

      Also, I highly doubt a portable 12v tyre inflator/compressor would pull 20-40amps.

Clear from the description that this is NOT intended to jump start a vehicle (which is what a jump starter is for). This is an adapter meant to be plugged into a GOOLOO jump-starter (or the like) at one end (for power) and a baby's bottle warmer, CD player. Navman etc and plugged into the adapter's socket for an instant on-the-go power supply.

The original GOOLOO's never included this as an accessory, however from my reading of other posts here @ OzB, this adapter appears to be now included with current GOOLOO devices as well as some of their competitors. It is not clear from the picture, but the other end appears to be either a Micro-USB or USB-C plug. My GOOLOOs came with a short USB-C which I have used to recharge my mobile phone during long black-outs.

        • yeah, i realised after i commented & edited..

Was directing my reply to @Lead Wings re the 20-40amp compressor statement..

          • @Bunsen: Agree the pissy little compressors should be under 10A. However any decent compressor (eg carried for 4WD etc) will easily pull 20-40A.

So as per my original comment - which was in response to the title of this deal where it says air compressor - I would be careful about current draw if you use this for an air compressor.

            • @Lead Wings: That being the case, in no way would it be fitted with a cig adaptor as they're only rated for 10amps, any compressor U refer to would have Anderson powerpoles..

              • @Bunsen: Yeah fair enough - I though about it an my (and most big compressors) come with alligator clips or Andersons. Anything with a cig lighter plug should only be drawing 10 (15 max) amps.

The 2000A Gooloo I bought in January came with this. The end is just a dc barrel plug that plugs into the 15v/10A output..

Seems like a ripoff, is there any circuitry in this or is it just a socket worth a couple of dollars attached to a plug and lead worth even less?

    • +1

I have one included in my GOOLOO jump-starter, it is the latter. You could probably fashion your own if you knew what you were doing.

      Seems like a ripoff

      agreed.

    • @mapax I suppose if your were able to make your own, then indeed this would be "rip-off"?

For the rest of us without your wisdom or agility, i.e. those who are not able or willing to pop into Jaycar to buy the necessary bits and pieces, or may not have the technical nouse, failing eyesight, arthritic fingers to fiddle with wiring etc, then it would be a much more simple and dare I say it, CONVENIENT, to just buy it if you need it…. $16.99 well spent considering the former solution :p

Would you like one made Brute?

What a coincidence. Recently my $4.52 AliExpress sourced adapter (same as posted) allows my Gooloo battery to power a basic tyre inflator no problem. My trailer tyres were flat and there was enough grunt to fully inflate one tyre in 5 minutes. The Gooloo on full charge was enough to fix my 2 flat trailer tyres and a bit of top-up on all the tyres of 2 other cars.

$3 off a $20 obscure accessory for a car jump starter? The bar is low these days….

  • +1

@mattman… Why do you need a low bar? The original GOOLOOs never had this accessory. Newer models now do. Maybe, just maybe, someone out there has need for an adapter like this to provide power to a baby's bottle warmer, charge a phone, etc while waiting for the NRMA/RACQ etc to turn up? A lot of possibilities.

  • Anyone know of something like this that has a female cigarette lighter port on one end but with a power point plug on the other end? Found some in the past but were super expensive and I just want a cheap way to fill up the air mattress for visitors without having to stand in the dark at my car annoying all the neighbours with the noise.

    • +1

Not sure what exactly you mean but if a power point plug is fitted, it's presumed that it's for 240v use, so it's a no-no for DC use, especially if U mean a male 3 pin plug.. if you could elaborate further I can help you out with a solution..

      • +1

You can buy various types of devices that are 240v power plug - transformer - 12v lighter socket, there’s also a version that looks like a wallwart with a lead and lighter socket

        • That's the reason I asked what they meant, if he's talking a 12v transformer/power supply (240v —> 12v) that's what you've listed..

Being a camping environment I presumed it might have been 12v they were talking about..?

Seems like what mapex has posted is exactly what I was after!

  • I have one of these I use it sometimes to plug in my 12volt portable air compressor to blow up my trailer tyres.

  • I got this for free with my GOOLOO jump starter. I don't think it is worth $17.

i use the ciggy socket adapter on my non-gooloo jumpstarter to power my blackvue dashcams so they'd run 8+ hours in park mode without requiring any hard-wiring/powermagic pro
