No spend $48k to save $350….bargain
Reduced fee, not no fee
what if you top up card with 48k over the year and do a cash advance of the over paid credit balance that should count ? the big question would be do you get hit with any cash advance fees for transferring the credit balance online back to your savings account? does anyone know how they treat credit balances i know nab and Anz it is $0 fees but not sure with Citibank.?
I have the citi rewards card, am I eligible for this qantas rewards card's promotion?
i pretty sure you are if you make a new application. but best to call to check incase they have changed the rules.
Geez $4k spend now
Citi have been particularly strong with rejecting applications in the past too (for no good reason either), so people should be wary.
Aren't citibank closing down?
They will be selling CC division.
I still have their $0 signature card that comes with awesome perks… hope they don't remove the product.
I suspect we'll soon find out what "free for life" actually means.
Great website! You should add it to the wiki somehow.
Would love to see something similar for points as well, not just gift cards. Still, thanks for the link!
Can you please explain what you mean by gift cards? I'm aware of the churning method for points but what is the gift cards stategy?
You spend the minimum amount required in the first X months, you get the bonus rewards points, you redeem for gift cards from their rewards store, and then you close the card and move on to the next.
Unless you’re desperate to get Qantas points and you’ve done all the other options (eg Amex Qantas Ultimate or the NAB Signature), the regular Citi Rewards platinum is a better deal imo. $49 for a $100 Coles gift card and 90k Citi points which works $400 in gift cards.
It's not about desperation it's about the best ROI. People put a value on Qantas points but the value you get from international business or first class flights will always be higher, and certainly higher than gift cards.
Borders won't be open anytime soon, but I'm saving for a pair of round the world trios which is 800k points I think, things like this help. Won't be able to save that much overnight, it's a few years for sure.
Yeah I understand Qantas points are more valuable when redeemed for travel but I’m personally getting close to cracking that 1mil points threshold (and I assume there’s a few of us here on OzBargain), so getting $500 for $49 seems more appealing than 75k points for $175.
a pair of round the world trios which is 800k points I think
oneworld Classic Flight Rewards are often used for round-the-world trips, though there is no requirement to do so.
318,000 points in Business class or 455,000 points in First class.
318,000 x 2 = 636,000 for Biz or 910,000 for First, so I was close off the top of my head - Biz is preferred as I've heard it is VERY difficult to get 2 F flights on a reward on many legs so it's not useful.
Are there any current zero first year fee card deals going with bonus QF points?
Use to almost always been one live one, now they are incredibly rare to find. Also, there is still the 0% Citi payall promotion going on, and I guess it can be a good points earner…
Can normal "citi premier" card holder able to transfer to Qantas? or Do I need to get this citi premier qantas card?
Spend $48k to save $175!!!
