Pretty decent deal on the KSM160! (The model with the extra 2.8L bowl over the base KSM150). Not as good as the amazing Appliances Online deal nearly a year ago (though there ended up being about a three month wait on that), but the best since then!

I've had both the Kenwood and the Kitchenaid and I MUCH preferred the Kenwood.I think the Kenwood is more powerful, easier to use, clean and the light in the bowl was actually very useful.
Agreed. At least 2-3 times more powerful and excellent for bread dough.

The KitchenAid is a beautiful looking appliance, and super quiet due to it's low speed, high torque motor.
I got mine (albeit the classic) for this OzB deal for $239!
Is this the best model KitchenAid to get or are there others I should consider?

There is a smaller version, and a couple of larger versions - but this is the one that people are mostly talking about when they a refer to a "KitchenAid". If you're only making pasta, then I think a mixer like this is a bit of overkill (given you can do it by hand, or with a fairly cheap processor). But if you're making breads/cakes/other things that require lots of mixing - then I think that this model will suit you.
Thanks for the insight, I agree this may be overkill but it seems to be the gold standard and allows for flexibility in the future.
