1420
POKEN20

Greetings everyone, thought this was worth sharing as there hasn't been a POK deal in quite a while.

Even better is that eBay have now enlisted most items over $15 to be eBay Plus eligible so can get free express delivery on these if you're an eBay plus member. So no more $12 flat shipping for all members.

A good deal is the Global Ikasu Knife Block Set 7pce for $251.20 Delivered.

The offer entitles you to 20% off on items sold by Peters of Kensington (“Seller”), except for the Exclusions, with up to a maximum discount of $1000 per transaction during the Offer Period. Multiple items may be purchased in up to 5 transactions per person (with a maximum of 10 items per transaction).

As always, enjoy :)

Not Seletti Kintsugi, but I've got lots just like this if you want some!

  • Thanks OP! It's been ages since the last one

was looking at the picture wondering "how the hell is that a knife block?"

Great deals on Vitamix blenders, E310 for $383.20

    • Seems like a lot to spend on a blender but they are absolutely worth it if you blend stuff regularly. I've been doing raw and frozen veggies and they are pureed fantastically (the flavour is another story)

  • Thanks, saw related post first but have been looking for knives for a few days

  • Thanks, was looking for pepper mill. Perfect timing! Using discounted gift card from Woolies too.

    • Which one did you get?

  • Thanks OP bought knife block

  • Bodum 2 pack is sold out :(

      • I was contemplating going the 6pk but really just need two. Decisions, decisions…

        • +6

They come in handy when you break them and/or have guests. Get six

          • +4

            @kerfuffle: Enabler right here!

          • +1

@kerfuffle: Second this. My wife has killed two of the four I bought (next size down in Pilatus style, but similar). I'd have been better with a six pack.

In my experience the cheap Ikea tall glasses we bought break way easier than these Bodum double-walled glasses, but they are still somewhat delicate. Very nice to drink out of though…just made a latte for a guest in the big ones, and they were most impressed.

            • @Banj0: $39.95 6pk at Catch

              • +1

@plal: plus delivery unless you have Club Catch?

        • I bought 6 and only needed 2. Broke 2 so far. Keep the others as backups :D

Can anyone recommend a quality cutlery set? Looking to replace cheap plastic handled rubbish!

    • +3

Stanley Rogers and Robert Welch were popular when I worked in the gift registry at DJs

      • I see Stanley Rogers has so many different lines/sets. Do you know if there are any differences in any of them apart from appearance?

        • +3

I think it's just appearance. If you plan on buying ALL the doodads like your salad servers, cheese knives, cake knife, cake forks etc., then the Baguette range is a go-to. The Robert Welch equivalent is Radford (you can even buy an ice cream scoop to match your cutlery)

    • +2

Check out Muji, their cutlery is awesome, price/quality ratio is fantastic, and they do not sell sets, i.e. you pick only what you need and can replace the lost items or buy extra pieces whenever you want.

      • +1

Are they 18/10 SS? It will cost you more than $200 to get the equivalent pieces as the $100 Stanley Rogers.

        • They don't have any markings, but according to European Muji website it's 18/8 steel. I have some 18/10 Solex for comparison, and I really prefer Muji's quality. To my surprise, Solex knife had some rust spots (probably after soaking in water and/or being in dishwasher), but I've never had this problem with Muji after years of daily washing in dishwasher. Muji cutlery has very smooth matte finish, I just can't compare them to any other brand. The shape and weight also seem perfect to me. I agree that buying 56 pieces separately could be more expensive, but I'd rather buy fewer pieces of better quality.

    • +4

Make sure you get a stainless steel 18/10 set especially if you are going to be washing them in a dishwasher all the time.

I ended up buying this set https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/254741882055

Seen Tablekraft used in hatted restaurants as well as others. One of their sets looks very similar to the Royal Doulton Classic set.
Stanley Rogers is rubbish as they rust easier.
      Robert Welch is nice.

  • Can anyone confirm if it's awkward/annoying to insert/remove the longer knives from the block if this is sitting on a bench with kitchen cabinets overhead?

    Apparently it's 37cm tall?

A few reviews have mentioned this.

    TIA

    • This is Africa?

If you can (own home, or landlord doesn't mind in case of rentals), try installing a magnetic knife strip or two. We got rid of the block long ago and our best knives live on a magnetic strip near the stove. Wife loves it.

  • The other day I was flicking through old clips of Dragon's Den where the inventors of that 'doorjam' as pictured in link was being presented.

One of the Dragons managed to bypass the item in a few seconds :\

  • Came across this fountain pen pack, good value if you include the extra 20% off

https://milligram.com/ is selling them for $99.95.

after using the $6 Victorinox knives my expensive global knives are not being used at all!

  • Any recommendation for a gift for a 43 year old woman from here? So much choice, overwhelming.

    • +2

Candle/diffuser from the likes of Glasshouse, Ecoya and Circa Home.

A bag to hold her beauty items?

If she writes a lot, a Moleskine.

If she likes cooking/entertaining, maybe something from Le Creuset?

What's your budget and what does your 43 year old woman like?

      • Many thanks. Le Creuset are the likely target but might be a bit over our budget. Being married I know less about her likes and a great deal about her dislikes. The diffuser may be another good idea. Many thanks.

        • +3

Turns out there's no Le Creuset in the PoK eBay store unlike their online store

If you can get them elsewhere and within budget, perhaps a set of ramekins or mugs from Le Creuset? Or a few Mini Cocottes in different colours

  • Thanks OP, bought the Ikasu :)

What's that thing in the thumbnail?

  • I couldn't select click and collect. Did anyone else have that issue?

    • i had the same issue on one of my purchaces. I did contact Peter's via their ebay store and they have change to collect. I did two other purchases with nil issues, i was able to select the click and collect option.

    • Click n collect worked ok on my laptop.
Plus u can get some cashrewards with desktop site

      Friend got some Mundial ones.

  • Thanks OP,

Bought the Vitamix a2300i for $567 shipped which I think is a 2 year low, if you had eBay plus for free shipping it would be the lowest price

    • Ebay plus doesnt give free shipping on these.

  • +1

    For the numismatics amongst us.
As you would be aware, whenever ebay has sales or discounts … “coins and banknotes” are excluded from the list.
However for some reason, Peter’s of Kensington sell Royal Australia Mint coins, and do not list them correctly in the category of “coins”.

So you can get 20% off products which are rarely discounted.

My problem is I have already bought everything they are selling already, but did pick up a couple of 2021 proof sets for 20% less than what they are “worth”.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-RA-Mint-2021-Proof-Coin-Set-… - $96.00

    https://eshop.ramint.gov.au/coin-pack-proof-6-coin-set-2021-… - $120.00

Thanks OP. Been after a decent pepper mill for a long time, grabbed a Peugeot Paris in a natural finish for $60

    • You can't go wrong with Peugeot!
