Warcom's NEW networking cables stand out from the rest of the networking cables. Ethernet networks are the most common type of networks in existence today. Most of them currently run over twisted pair (UTP) cable. In this network, cross connections between walls and computers, patch panels and equipment, or between two pieces of equipment use patch cables. This Seltec cable is designed to go between a computer and the wall or between a patch panel and a piece of equipment. This patch cable is compliant with EIA/TIA 568 B.2 standard at an Enhanced Category 5 Level (commonly called Cat 5e). Cat 5e will support the following speed and protocols: 10 Megabit per second Ethernet (10Base-T), 100 Megabit per second fast Ethernet (100Base-TX) and 1 Gigabit per second gigabit Ethernet (1000Base-T).

NB: Certain cable combinations may include a shipping charge. If this does occur, please simply note "Ozbargain" in the customer comments section during your checkout and the shipping cost will be removed prior to processing the order. Thanks

  • 2 of each colour would be nice.

    msy sells 2m cat6 cables for $2

    • Thanks for that.

Not sure on the quality of their cables but our cables are really good. If you've got time for a bit of a read, please see this article:

      http://blog.warcom.com.au/article/ethernet-networking-cat6-c…

      • Do your cables stay twisted out of shape? I hate that , I need one for my ma's house as she doesn't have wifi cable and the annoying cat i bought is all twisted , it errks me bad lol

    • With various colours?

    • MSY's so called CAT-6 cables are not standard compliant. My friend bought one, the cable is stamped "CAT-6E", it is half the thickness of a normal one, and soft and limp. IIRC, it could not achieve a gigabit connection.

      • Indeed they are garbage. They skimp on the copper and when i sliced the insulation open they did not have enough twists in it. Did not do gigabit at all

        • The majority of short cables will do gigabit regardless of quality.

I do agree that I wouldn't expect long MSY cables to work very well on gigabit.

      • i use msy cables and they work fine for my gigabit network.

i have also tried meritline's 3m network cables ($0.99 when on special) and they work fine as well.

        • Neg on your comment for technology fail. Just because the interface negotiated 1000fdx doesn't mean you're getting 1000Mbps. Just means the interface detected 4 pairs.

You need to borrow a proper cable tester (e.g. Fluke meter or similar) to measure noise, crosstalk, error rates, etc.

        • +1

i don't need any fancy test equipment to know if my cables are working ok, i can see it in my transfer speeds.

besides, for short cables like these there will be negligible speed differences for any sort of cable.

I would take the $2.50 delivered than the $2 cable after driving to MSY and waiting a looong time to be served only to find out….NIL stock.

  • What ever happened to good ole fashioned cream/brown cabling, was so much easier to hide running down hallways…

    • +2

wireless is the easiest to hide. just my opinion though. :P

      • I can't hide the choppiness of my HD playback over wifi though :( stupid ceiling fans….

      • +5

Wireless is a very poor-performing alternative to a proper wired connection.

        • +2

true. wireless for convenience, wired for stability and speed.

  • hmm I remember getting OW 15m cat5e cables for a similar moolah…those were pretty good as well

  • +1

Awesome thanks, grabbed a couple (green & purple, just for something different).

    • +1

      You're very welcome. :)

We've sold about 500 so far, great response ozBargain!

  • Just ordered two, made the note "ozbargain free shipping" on the order as delivery was listed as $14.95, and paid $5 via direct deposit. White and purple should save confusion over cable ownership at lans in the future :D thanks!

  • Awesomesauce just ordered 2 purple ones myself

  • I need Cat6 cables, lots of 0.5m, 1m and 2m. Give us a good deal.

  • +2

Just ordered a purple cable for funsies that I have no practical use for. But LOOK AT ALL THE PRETTY COLOURS.

    • Thank you for the order none the less. :)

  • +5

Regardless of what valid technical knowledge or advice anyone saids on this forum, I'm just going to state, that colours make a difference with cat5 cables.

    Red cables are the fastest.

    • +1

Ever used a red cable with speed holes? Epic.

      • Wouldn't there be packet loss? :)

        • Nup - the data transfers so quickly through the cable it goes right on past the holes.

        • +5

I am assuming that the more cable there is, the further the data has to travel. Thus cutting speed holes into the cable reduces the size of the path between point A and B to make tranfers faster? That's science.

    • On the money there!

    • Afterall you'd think, some of that red ferrari speeds should run off on the data eh?

  • Don't think I need any but since it ends Friday, what are the stock levels like? Enough so that if I decide in a couple of days?

  • Can I buy a 5m cat5 cable with the order & still get free delivery?

    • Not yet.

This offer is only on 2m only cables at the moment.

I <3 warcom but i bought a bunch of 10m cables from ebay for like $2 each with free shipping, if you can handle a wait they are dirt cheap from HK.

    • Those cables are probably made with nasty copper, which will result in slower transfer speeds throughout your network.

  • Awesomundo! Cheers.

  • Those bottle openers are tempting btw! Love the comments. I don't need an excuse to start drinking. I'm way past that…

    • We've sold thousands 'of em!

  • +1

Thanks so much to everyone who has purchased thus far!

We're dispatching all the cables tomorrow……. The warehouse girls (yes: girls) are going to be super busy!

    • Rule 34 on warehouse girls.

  • Got a purple and a green. The colours sucked me in. :D

  • a cable is a cable.

use wifi, much eaiser than messing around with cables.

  • Ordered after-hours on Australia Day, shipped on Friday, received in Sydney today.

Nice cables, thanks for the deal and quick service.

  • Got mine today, great quality. Thanks.
