      • Pretty sure children can open it if they tried. Whether on purpose or not..

Just need to push in and turn it a bit.

Also the shape of the tile itself is not much bigger than the battery..
That could be a choking hazard in itself.

There's been news reports of children dying from these batteries
and now apple is gonna flood the market with these tags with these batteries..

only a matter of time before we see a rise in cases.

        • Surely most of these would be attached to keys or in places that children would otherwise not look, unlike the batteries that do get swallowed that seem to just be laying around…

          • @smartazz104: i doubt the cases where the children had swallowed those batteries just cos the batteries were just laying around..
Most likely they were in some toy or devices and the kid was chewing on it or just playing with it..
Though no one knows the full detail of those cases so we don't know for sure how it happen.

Look how easy this comes off

they could have made this more safer if they had put screws on the battery compartment
that you need to take out before you can change the battery.

You think that would be the case.. but people might use them in all sorts of ways..
also they might not need case for a tag that goes in their wallet etc..
or just chuck one in their backpack (used as a hidden tag rather displaying it etc).
they also may just have spares laying around in the desk or drawers etc..

The thing about little kids is they are unpredictable..
that is why the parents didn't know that their children swallowed those other batteries or how they got them etc..

  • Just missed..

The one product Apple didn't seal up

And now its not safe to sell, oops.

      • the irony..
most apple products are made to be hard to remove..

I think this could have been made safer if they put screws to open the battery casing and place the case on the back to open it.

  • Bugger, the one time I sign up to Latitude Pay to make use of their $50 promo with HN and it now doesn’t look like I’ll ever get them as they keep telling me they’re not in stock yet.

    • they told me it's coming in next Tuesday

      • Oh fingers crossed. I’ll chase them up next week!

  • Where is "Apple EEP $134.20 (inc. free engraving)" ? I checked Educational store also selling for $149?
