  • These older routers can be surprisingly useful. I turned an old one into a movie server to iPad (DLNA) which worked well.

Is it high enough to use as a door stop?

  • Gumtree has heaps of better routers for free

  • cheaper than a switch

  • Junk. Not much use left except for ADSL. don't bother with router use only.

  • I've got one of these, can do 100mbit over WAN. 2.4Ghz works alright assuming you're not in a built up area, can get 70mbps or so. Passable as a cheap second Wi-Fi AP. Seems stable enough

    ADSL2+ is DEAD
    Thats what can go wrong
Sellers cant even give these way so $8 is way too expensive

  • This could potentially be good for setting up another WiFi point for VPN? Like if you need to connect to US/UK VPN you just got to switch your WiFi on the device to this?

Edit: If it is so useless that it is not even worth $8 why is there so many upvotes??

    • It has a ethernet WAN port. Which means you can connect to external network like NBN.
You'll still need a modem if you're not on FTTP - thank NBN Co for going with MTM.

  • as long as its not a $10 router

    could lose 80 mil

  • Two potential use cases:
Switch (plenty of devices don't need gigabit)
    4G (USB) router

    • You can also use it as a Wi-Fi access point for a local network, or a simple WAN router.

  • The power adapter itself is worth more than $8.
