After watching various Alienware Aurora R11 deals with the RTX 3080 on OzBargain lately (refer here), I noted that you could upgrade one of the current configuration deals to include an RTX 3080 and it worked out slightly cheaper than the recent $3254 deal but with only 1TB of HDD (rather than 2TB). For those who don't care about unlocked CPUs, it's about $93 cheaper with the 10700F in this deal. The smaller 3.5" drive is less likely to be an issue if you were planning to either install your own much larger shucked drive, or if you were planning to mod the case with an extra intake fan by removing the 3.5" drive from the front bay.

For comparison purposes, I've also added in the other recent deal which includes a truckload of accessories and is also still active (and IMO a great deal if you want the matching Alienware branded monitor/keyboard/mouse/headset).

Note: Bolded differences between the configuration options.

I've done my best to try and include the correct links with the configurations but in case they don't work, the Dell code is awrad063au or visit the original build link and then add in the RTX 3080, and change the CPU to KF if you wanted that. Upon check out, add the LOVEKEANU coupon code and you should get the prices per above.

Don't forget 6% Cashrewards (which others have commented will stack with this code), and there's also Dell reward points too if you care for them.

Update 23/04/2021
Configurations from Dell have changed and whilst LOVEKEANU is still valid, the previous deal with the KF and 2TB HDD is active again: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/616191

It took me a few goes to get this right. However, you need to check the info of the various R12 listings, as I was told any non-K variant of the CPU gets the heatsink option generally.

So I had to specifically ask for it over the phone and got it added for about $50.

          https://i.imgur.com/IhqO9LL.png

Bear in mind, this may affect your ability get cashback, but I added some generic comparable parts on pcpartspicker to get a rough idea: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/3C9Z7X

          This came up around: $3243.36

So without ever owning a Dell System, I've picked middling components to get a relative comparison in costs. So without the cashback it would seem that a ~$300 saving is still available? Happy for other people to adjust and provide - but if the cashback does comethrough then it seems like icing on the cake… tbh. YMMV

    • -1

better spend $140 more for i7 and water cool heatsink

      • do you recommend the dell watercooling option or an aftermarket?

I've read you can only fit a 120mm Liquid AIO into the R12

    • -1

When I apply my student code and the LOVEKEANU code the price goes up.

      • -1

I got final pricing approved by Dell - $2,987.48 including liquid AIO cooler. Because I made the purchase online and chose EFT as the payment method, the claim was recorded in Shopback.

I just called them to adjust the payment method and paid via Zip Pay's VISA single card usage….

        So pretty much that should be $2,987.48 - $160.26 = $2827.22.

I'm not sure why the price went up for you - which R12 model did you choose?

        • -1

Do the codes only stack for the R12 model? I tried it with the R11.

          • -1

@WinstonWithAY: there is a sale on the r11 apparently so the sales guy said you can't stack those 2 together.
Only the r12 can be used, but my student discount was 20% so it ended up being far better.

  • +1

$80 more for the cooler, I had it for my aurora r6 6700k, no issues, aftermarket might not fit

    • -1

I pleaded ignorance a bit and basically asked about the liquid cooling as I "couldn't really see any information on the listing…" he seemed eager to help because the sales guy was talking up the benefits of the i7 over the i5 option… so i just asked him if it was possible to upgrade to the liquid cooling option as "I had heard the 3080 and the i7 get hot"…

He said he could do it for an extra $50 :) so total was $2987.48 after discounts (with pending cashback of ~$160)

      • How did you get the discount, the rep online chat offered me $3441.82 but only could modify on their end, and told me I couldn't have discount code if I took this offer. Or did you call them after you placed the order? If they modified the total amount you might not get your cashback.

        • Yeah modifying an order after placing it would see the cashback rejected. I wouldn't recommend that to anyone.

        • Not sure why people are downvoting, i'm not saying this method is ideal, recommended, nor would the cashback work… and i did say the cashback was pending as well….

I read the terms and conditions and it says cashbacks will be rejected for any returns, exchanges, and cancellations of orders.

          https://i.imgur.com/IhqO9LL.png

          Steps I took:
          1) As I said before, went through Dell Student Purchase Program and waited for the 20% discount: https://webapp.dell.epsilon.com/APJ/UCVM/Coupons/Register/al…
          2) Applied that discount on the R11 - as WinstonWithAY pointed out this increased the price, because there is a 25% off sale on the R11 from the OP's link and this cannot be stacked.
          3) Looked for the R12 not on sale, and found the i7 version with the CPU Heatsink/Air Cooler. Checked out with my student code and LOVEKEANU combined and selected EFT as payment
          4) Called Dell Customer Care to pay for item with Credit Card rather than EFT so i can use Zip Pay / however, if you had enough on your normal credit card then it works as well.
          5) Basically chatted to the sales rep, and said what do you think about that config and is there any upgrades that I should take - he suggested RAM, etc, and hence I asked about the Liquid Cooling option.
          6) Confirm upgrade on the phone

Noted that cashback may still be rejected, but at the price after discounts, I was happy to still get a 3080 prebuilt for less than $3k

@burn: thanks for the details … i'm gonna have an attempt at this myself :D

quick question .. approx how long did it take to get the email from Dell with the 20% discount code?

            • @CereaL: Pretty much instant. I tried with my old alumni emails and got three codes in <5min.

          • +1

@burn: I tried this too, but the sales rep said he couldn't discount any further on the liquid cooling, so I paid $2938 for the air cooled 11700F + RTX 3080, not too bad all things considered.

            • -1

@Tavisophical: That's a shame, I'm sorry you didn't get the upgrade man. Ahh I've read that they use Asetek 120mm AIO's, but I couldn't find any specific information or links to them unfortunately!

              • @burn: It's all good, maybe I'll upgrade to AIO at a later date if I feel it's needed.

              • @burn: any feedback/suggestions on the processor?

i'm assuming the 11700 is better … but then there is the different variants of it

                • -1

@CereaL: looking at some reviews on Youtube, there doesn't seem to be much overclocking headroom. Maybe go with the cheaper one without the integrated graphics and overclocking capability if those aren't relevant for you?

  • Am I missing something? I dont see the sale prices once clicking on the link.

Looks like the configurations from last week have changed slightly, and with that, the configuration for Option 2 with the KF has changed to include a 2TB HDD (vs 1TB) and the price is about $50 more if you pick the third config on the main Aurora R11 page for $3,149 and then add the RTX 3080 for $350 taking the total up to $3,499. With coupon code LOVEKEANU it drops down to $3,254.08. Essentially it's this deal all over again: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/616191
