Please note that this model does not have "Kid-Zone" feature. I would recommend UH45-3 over this.

What's a kid zone feature do?

      • +2

Make them only talk to each other and not the other radios on the same channel.
Spend a bit more and get the UH45 if there are for young kids.

      • +4

        CTCSS.

Sends a tone along with the voice. The receiver screens out any transmissions that don't have the tone in the background. It doesn't make your conversations private, it just prevents the receiver from putting what others say out the speaker. CB, being a public and unlicensed set of channels, often attracts the very worst language imaginable.

        • Yes some repeaters are bad.

    • +1
  • Can I buy 6 and have them all work with each other?

    • Yes.. they work just like any radio and they do a great job for the price.

  • What's the range for these?

    • These compact handheld walkie talkies feature an Ultra High Frequency range with a transmit power of 500mW for communicating within a range of 3 plus kilometres (2) and can achieve even further range, including in locations without mobile reception (3).

    • Not much, about 1km unless you have perfect line of sight.

  • This unit suggests 3 AAA alkaline batteries.

Does anyone know they can handle the rechargeable Eneloop and Lada types? eg. Not 1.5v each but 1.2?

    • +1

Consider getting the UH45-3 instead - it specifically supports rechargeable batteries - and you can even recharge them via MicroUSB cable.

      • +1

Yeah but how good is that battery? I prefer disposable (or rechargeable) batteries over built ins because you can replace them. Some batteries have very short lifespans

  • Whats the 25% cashback?

  • $78 via Amazon: https://www.amazon.com.au/UNIDEN-UH35-3-HANDHELD-RADIOS-COMP… this seems a much better deal

    • Why is it a better deal? It’s the same thing for a higher price?

      • I think rawm meant that this (OP) listing on ozbargain is a better deal?

  • Time to test how well these go on the road getting on channel 40 with all the trucks.
Hopefully not a waste of $50

    • +1

We got the Aldi version, maybe not as good, but was driving and talking across 3 cars, it was awesome, the battery life is crap thou, but good enough if the kids don’t yap on it all day

      • Was tempted at them, they look to be the same from memory.
I only want them for communication with trucks at short distances anyway.

I don’t suppose you tried using it to call up trucks when overtaking etc on channel 40?

        • Lol no, was just trying not to get lost.

        • Is that you, Candy Cane?

  • How do these compare to something like GME 2W UHF Transceiver TX677?

    • These are 500mW so a lot less power/range

    • 2W GME will be much better than the 0.5W unit listed here.
