problem is the 'oldies, sick and disabled' might get their hopes up and actually expect to be able to secure & purchase one without driving to six different stores

      • Why can't they complain under section 35 of the ACL

You say this as though they're a charity and aren't literally here for the sole purpose of making money

      • +3

if you have a look at the prices and markups of mobility products they do look like a charity in comparison.

eg. this wheelchair almost identical in a mobility store is about $400

that said, the wedge pillow is probably cheaper in an adult store.

that said, the wedge pillow is probably cheaper in an adult store.

Funny, I saw something on reddit that basically said the opposite - go buy one for old people as they're the same thing only cheaper!

They also sell food, do you thank them for ending world hunger?

  • There's no vac ban for using a ableist to usain bolt it but others may be doing the same thing.

Bought one for my grandfather last time around. Lasted up until about a fortnight ago and then one of the bars bent.

Still, pretty happy with how long it lasted at this price point. Folds down just small enough to fit in the boot of an i30 hatchback.

Take it back with receipt in 7 days time… outcome = replacement wheels!

I've been known to leave shower stools for a lot less than that in the past…

I'm no marketing guru but shouldn't they sell the wheelchair the week after the electric bikes are on sale?

Also, in the interest of leaving something of value in this comment, I got the shiatzu backrest (also on sale) last time it was on sale, still working to this day after about 2 years of regular use.

    • Electric bikes?
Wouldn't mind an electric scooter though.

Is that trolley worth 40 bucks?

Folding wheelchair is awesome. We got one for my grandmother a few years ago, it'll go in the back seat of a hatchback when folded. Means getting her out an about for lunch is Still an option.

    Which brand is it?

      • -2

        They don't manufacture wheelchairs.

        • +5

          Which brand is it?

You did not ask what manufacturer made this

          • @spaceflight: That is what I meant though.

Regardless, it is extremely unlikely these will be branded 'Aldi'. People would be making fun of you at the old people's home…

        • I wish you guys would stop bolding random words

Please be a bit cautious about buying the wheelchair.
It is nearly double the weight of some other brands of wheelchair.
This means that the carer's would refuse to lift it into a car and it could not be used.
It is also rusting after 2 years of intermittent use.
If you are looking for a wheelchair have a look into the governament Medical aid subsidy scheme. MASS. Many people will be eligible for cheap or free wheelchairs if they need them.
So it is cheap but I don't think it is a bargain due to the limitiations you will find with it.

    • Net weight is 15 kg which seems relatively heavy for a wheel chair. An average entry-to-mid-level road bike weighs around 9 to 10 kg.

Thanks for sharing your experience with this product and the subsidy tip.
