The Oracle isn't fully automatic though when I googled it
No, but it only has 1 extra step (and button press) vs a fully automatic. It grinds & tamps automatically, then move the filter to the group head & press the shot button.
what about the milk frother?
@aec: Milk is one touch (push a lever).
Overall the oracle is a few buttons presses more, but can grind/shot/steam all at the same time, I’ve timed it and it’s under 2 mins to make a coffee (including the minimal cleanup), most of which is standing there watching.
I paid $2300 for my Oracle (non-touch)
@Carrera1963: Thanks… os there any other difference between touch & non-touch, apart from Touch Screen
@OzSikh: Not that I’m aware of… I figured the touch screen was just something extra that could go wrong too
Breville The Oracle Touch is $3,399 on sale which is a significant price jump.
Delonghi Primadonna Elite is also on sale and slightly cheaper at $2,099 (save $500). if you are lucky, these sometimes turn up in the Delonghi Outlet for half price.
My Delonghi Primadonna stopped working over a month ago after 8 years. So I was looking for a replacement last month and my decision was between the Jura S8 and the Gaggia Babila.
I went for the Babila because it was more convenient and economical to clean after making milk base coffees. You can store the milk crafter in the fridge after a simple steam flush or even use the steam wand. Whereas with the S8 you have to run a milk cleaning solution rise after every use.
They rrp $2699 but I got mine for $2029(price match) + $159 for extra 3 years warranty (=5 years) from Harvey Norman
What's the model number for Gaggia Babila that you bought?
The model type:SUP046DG
I’d recommend the Breville Oracle over this, it will make a much better cup, proper dual boiler with PID & very little mess.
