    Good boards.

Just remember MOV's in surge protectors do wear out from use. If its been 24 months, its worth considering replacing the boards.

Many people recommend replacing a surge protector every two years or so, but any recommendation like this one can only be a rule of thumb.

    • Properly sized protectors remains functional for many decades after many direct lightning strikes. Grossly undersizing a protector (a tiny 2800 joules) means a protector can even fail on surges too tiny to damage appliances. Then the naive use wild speculation to know "My protector sacrificed itself to save my appliance".

Total bull. All household appliances (due to superior protection inside) protected themselves.

Effective protector always answers this question. Where do hundreds of thousands of joules harmlessly dissipate? Then that one 'whole house' protector has protected everything (dishwasher, clock radios, central air, LED & CFL bulbs, refrigerator, recharging electronics, stove, and smoke detectors). Especially that tiny 2800 joule protector.

What happens when a plug-in protector is not protected by a properly earthed 'whole house' protector? https://i.redd.it/e34962ah06q11.jpg Tiny joules explain why so many want to replace them so often.

An effective 'whole house' protector remains functional for many decades after many direct lightning strikes. Lightning is typically 20,000 amps. So a minimal 'whole house' protector is 50,000 amps. Effective only when connected low impedance (ie less than 3 meters) to what defines and does all protection - earth ground electrodes.
