20% off Qantas Rewards Store Redemptions

170

Looks like Qantas is running 20% off the rewards store again - ends Mon 5 Apr (no coupon needed)
If you are sick of waiting for international borders to open, it maybe a good time to grab that toaster you've been wanting (hehe)!
This seemed popular last time pre-iPhone 12 launch.
Some items also seem to stack with sale pricing & 20% off. Scrap that it doesn't stack with sale items
Doesn't seem to stack with Qantas Points club 10% off (for those who qualify)

      points or money ?

      • points

  • +4

Is anyone able to provide a breakdown of the $ value per point and is there anything that actually works out to be cheaper when paying with points than paying cash?

    • +2

      It varies, however:

Around 263 per $1 if redeeming EFTPOS gift cards.

181 per $1 for JB Hifi, Good guys

197 per $1 for David Jones

Then some others sell points on trading posts for higher value, but you run the risk of getting your account locked if caught.

      • so gift cards are better ya?

  • There used to be someone who paid I think it was 1c per point, so 10,000 points = $100 in equivilent value.
Not sure if that still happens with the value of points dropping dramatically without any ability to spend them on flights right now.

    • Wow so I have $5000 in points value?? :o

      • where did you get 500k from?

        • Collected over time?

        • +2

Not hard to accumulate 500,000 points via credit card bonuses. A single bonus can potentially be 100,000 points or more.

    • I don't think that 10,000 pts = $100 anymore. Maybe 10,000 = $75? Points has depreciated.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Looking at the store with 20% off on Apple stuff, the rate you are getting is around 10,000 = $60 - $70?

      • I mean there was literally a guy in the ozbargain forums that used to buy FF points at that rate. Can't find it now though.

        • I think they were asked to take their business elsewhere, in particular because the 1c/p was a rate that they loudly marketed as the "going" rate when there was serious precedent based upon demand that the rate should have been higher. You also had to give your login details to this third party and there were reports where they had taken out more points than agreed upon, then paying them back at the 1c/p rate. I think there were probably some privacy issues as well since you still owned the FF account and therefore could see all the bookings made using your points

  • Is apple airpods pro for 55512 points a good deal?

JBHIFi gift card is 19,730PTS https://store.qantas.com/au/p/gift-card-for-him/1035053P
but The Card Network Home Gift Card - Physical which includes JbHifi and goodguys is 18,130 PTS https://store.qantas.com/au/p/the-card--network-home-gift-ca…

Anyone know why this is? are there restrictions on the cards ?

    • +1

No resictrions, just TCN giving better discounts due to higher trade values

    • Check if The Card Network Home Gift Card can be used online? That may be a trade off. But I think I’ve read in staff are pretty lax about letting you buy jb gift cards with those efpos gift cards.

  • I need AMEX points transfer bonuses to come back!

  • Shame they dont offer free delivery or pickup…

    • they dont charge additional for delivery

      • Just tried putting Webber Charcoal BBQ in the cart. The $70 delivery was added on top.

        • ohh maybe I've bought smaller items before thats why …
but $70 for delivery is stupid

          • +2

@morediscount: I think they changed it. They did not charge delivery when i bought TV on their last discount. And yeah… $70 delivery seems excessive..
