  • Note the upside down position of the power prongs, this device will cover the wall switch of a normal twin power socket in Australia.
In certain conditions it may even put the switch in a position prone to arching.
Unfortunately, while China has similar power point with Australia, the socket is positioned differently.
    Be aware.

    • +2

      arching or arcing?

      • +1

The one that can start a fire.

        • One of the tests they do for RCM certification is exactly this.
Another big advantage of GaN technology over silicon is that GaN chargers do not get hot like the older silicon chargers.

          • @HomeKit Australia: The 30w charger that sits next to me has been plugged in and running continuously for several weeks doing watts and volts testing and charging on various devices.
I thought I'd unplug it to see if it was even warm - nope it's cold.
If I had done the same with many silicon-based chargers I'd likely not be able to hold it in my hand - some silicon chargers are better shielded and constructed than others though. Apple's silicon chargers tend only to get warm.
There's plenty to read about Gallium Nitride and it's use in high end products such as medical imaging. Please take a peek around our Blog.

  • Yes, many are like this. You can still turn the wall switch on and off - there's a good gap between the two.
Forgot to mention all our GaN chargers have RCM (nee SAA) certification.

    • I use this stuff as well. You have to be careful not to catch some wire between the device and the wall switch.
I normally use it with a Chinese extension power board, to match the upside down :)

      • Christtos, this is a standard (fully compliant) Australian plug - sorry but I don't understand why it would collect wires between it and the wall plate.
Thanks for the feedback though - Keith.

  • Observation on the GaN charger from the last deal - it has an audible, and variable pitch, whine. For the most part not an issue, however a bit of a PITA for travel eg in quiet hotel room.

    • I can absolutely assure you there is no whine from our chargers - if you find one that has a whine, we will replace it with 2 x chargers. I have a 30w charger sitting next to me as I type this.
The chargers make no noise whatsoever.

      • We've also begun referring purchasers to TrustPilot where you are free to provide any feedback you like -

        Please read people's feedback.
        Thanks.

        • Maybe you should referring your customers to your returns department if they are deeming the item to be faulty.

          • @KangaDrew: Sorry, we've sold over 1000 GaN chargers with a single return which has tested fine.
I'm not sure what you mean by this comment??? Can you help me out? Which product is faulty?
Thanks for your help, if something's faulty we will jump on it straight away but I don't know which product this is.
            Keith

  • Nobody should miss this “deal”:

    • Thanks - that's a good one! Actually these hubs are very neat - I've been using one at my own desk for several weeks but just this week replaced it with our powered Thunderbolt 3 hub.
Thanks for brightening my day - Keith

  • I bought a 65W Gan Charger from the seller on last deal. The charger gets really hot while charging my laptop and I stopped using the charger. I wrote two emails, I did get no responds. Very poor customer service!

    • Sorry but I don't have any emails from you - if I did you would definitely have a response.
Anyway, if your charger is faulty we will replace it.
Contact me with your details and I will make sure this happens today.

      • Yes, I've found the emails - there are several, all of which have been replied to - they are about order and tracking numbers.
If the charger is faulty I'm happy to send another today or if you'd prefer to return it and it tests as faulty, refund your purchase.
        Which do you prefer?

        • ? - almost time to lodge today's orders with AustPost. I've checked my emails - nothing there.
Happy to send you another charger but I need to know if this is what you prefer????
          Thanks - Keith

        • I'm happy to get a good working charger!

See the attached email I have sent you.

        • That's great but I still have no response here or via email.
What would you like me to do??????
If you like, you can phone me on 0456221827 - we want to help you.
Please reply, email or phone - almost out of time for today.
          Thanks - Keith

          • @HomeKit Australia: My apologies I missed the "working charger".
Another 65w charger is in today's post - I will send you tracking details from our website.
            Thanks - Keith

            • @HomeKit Australia: You are going to need to help me here - the only product we've supplied you is a 99c USB-C cable.
This is the sole sale beside this email address.
Perhaps you've ordered it under another name/address. If you can provide an order number I can verify this.
Please phone, text, email, call - thanks.

  • Hey OP,

Was actually looking at some of your stuff before as your products and prices do look good. Can you elaborate a bit on what "by homekit" means exactly? Are these OEM items you get and test yourself in the office? Do you ask an OEM to make something for you and include QA in the contract? Etc. Curious really, as much as some idea of what goes into a product =)

    Cheers!

    • +2

Yes, typically we start by choosing what product we want to carry and then contact up to 100 suppliers to gauge their service and response, plus product specs and build quality.
Normally we narrow this down to 3-5 suppliers and then buy products from each for local testing and evaluation.
We then start working with a preferred supplier to request features, alterations and the like and eventually have a product that we sell.
For example, you would have seen that I am using a powered ThunderBolt 3 docking station at present.
There's not a lot of input that we can make with some products - like this Thunderbolt dock - but we still like to run them over several weeks prior to ordering stock.
Some products get heavily modified, such as the Mag car charger. These ones have a lot of input from us right from prototype.
So there's a combination of OEM products and others that simply come off the shelf. If it plugs in we will seek RCM approvals.
After we've been working with a particular supplier who proves to be a real partner, we begin requesting product development. We have a few of these and that's how we have our present Mag chargers. We talk to these suppliers almost 24 hours a day and it is very common to send a text at 3 in the morning and have a response moments later - especially from our charger manufacturer.
At the moment we are in dialogue re OEM 1TB flash drives, 512GB and 1TB microSD cards plus 2TB NVMe external drives.
The HomeKit side of the business has proved problematic - the major brands want to work with major chains and pricing is expensive. There's very few smaller manufacturers and they are either super expensive, have limited stock or simply don't measure up. What has transpired is that the bulk of our sales are AC and wireless chargers - we've sold over 1000 GaN chargers (with 1 return which is testing perfectly).
That's pretty much a snapshot of how it works, hope it helps.
      Keith

Damn, that's a reply and a half. Absolutely wonderful Keith. Really appreciate it! Will be looking to you for items from now on =D

        • Thanks - appreciate that.

  • website says PD 3 blurb in post says PD 2, 3 would sound more reasonable for 30w but please confirm OP

    • Yes fully compliant

  • At various requests we've dropped the charger only price to $19.95.
