DeLonghi Dinamica Fully Automatic Coffee Machine $899 Shipped @ Costco (Membership Required)

520

This is a very good price for this machine if you’re after a decent fully automatic machine with automatic milk frothing and dispensing. Next best price is $1199 at Myer and JBHifi.

Even if you’re not a Costco member and have to pay for the membership you’d still be ahead.

There is a “plus” model which I believe just has a better LCD, user profiles and app control. It’s significantly more expensive though, around $1500.

      • I got the plus model for 1049 almost 12 months ago from good guys.

Looks like there's a promotion that starts tomorrow for free accessories: https://www.delonghi.com/en-au/customer-support/promotions

Not sure if CostCo counts as a Participating Reseller as the T&C just states that it has to be a participating reseller as defined by the promoter and then proceeds to not define Participating Reseller: https://barista.delonghipromo.com.au/section/Enter/Terms_and…

    • Interesting! I just bought the machine this morning so I’ll try redeem this promotion tomorrow and see what happens. Not fussed about the coffee beans as I usually buy fresh ones but I’d like those insulated glasses.

      • I think the invoice has to be for the 29th or later but worth a shot.

        • +1

The Promotion will be open from 12:00am Australian Eastern Daylight Savings Time 29/03/2021 and will close on 11:59pm Australian Eastern Standard Time on 30/05/2021 (Promotion Period) or while stocks last. De'Longhi Australia Pty Ltd will accept valid claims for products purchased up to 7 days prior to the start date (Purchases made 22/03/2021-28/03/2021).

  • Amazon and Appliances Online also has the silver version for 989$.

  • Bought one of these years ago. The coffee is sub par, we stopped using it after about a month. Ended up selling it and getting a breville barista express which is now used every day and the coffee is consistently good as long as you take a some time to dial it in.

Got the plus version when Covid started. We're coffee snobs and love the machine. The coffee is very consistent and up there with the best cafes. The coffees are definitely better than average cafe coffee. It's paid itself off already.

There's a lot of options to adjust from coffee amount, bean coarseness, milk quantity etc. Once you find the right ratios it'll be rarely changed.

    • +1

Any tips on how to adjust it properly? Just bought it and I don’t seem to find the right adjustments.. coffee seems to run a bit fast (not taking the 25-30 sec that it should), so I ve turned it towards number 1 but still.. any tips? Thanks! Appreciate it

      • Check YouTube.

      • Answered below.

      • +1

Yes you turn that knob towards 1 to make the grind more fine. It takes 2-3 coffee cycles to settle after adjusting the setting though so just try a click or two at a time.

        • Yes thanks. As I said, I ve tried that, but not quite happy with it yet. I ve check youtube etc but cant find the right setting

      • What coffee beans are you using?

        • Using airho. Saw many positive comments on a link here at ozbargain. Any beans you would recommend? Thanks

    • Why is Nub negged?

      Nothing he/she said was bad.

      • +1

I was wondering the same - Nub is coming back after my +1 (up to -1 now)

        • Thanks for the support guys <3.

  • I bought this machine for $799 at the start of COVID when JB had a sale. It’s a great machine and I’ve used it twice a day for nearly a year. Took a little while to dial in the right settings but is awesome since I did.

Pay a bit more and get a Jura. They last 10+ years and make amazing espresso.

    • Any link? Thanks.

Just check gumtree/ebay and pick up a preowned one.

    • I bought a almost new Jura impressa S8 with all the accessories from a coffee machine repair man on Gumtree for $350.00 all up.
The brews it makes are seriously amazing.
      https://ibb.co/qgc814J
      https://ibb.co/z296rhk
So in summary. I advise second hand as a very viable option.

      • Nice one. I've got the Impressa S9 'avantgarde' edition which is basically like yours.

        • Love em !
I messed up. Mine is the S9 Impressa.
I love how easy to clean it is and how in one touch a coffee is made better than 99% of generic coffee shops can manage.
My Bean collection is pretty varied now as I can't stop trying different roasts and origins.

  • Good machine.

Managed to pick up from David Jones last Jan for $765

Still going strong nearly 15 months later

      They appear near identical: https://www.blackheartscoffee.com/delonghi-dinamica-vs-elett…

      Auto milk frother vs manual.

I bought a Dinamica Automatic Coffee Machine - ECAM35015B (earlier model) for $309.49 in May 2018 from Amazon. (use it at my office)
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/374300
I also owned a De'Longhi Eletta ECAM 45760W since 2015 (around $700 at the time) at home.

Eletta have bigger water container and bean capacity, and better control panel.
I will recommended Eletta than Dinamica if the price difference within $200.
by the way, both of the coffee machines still going strong especially Eletta.
I use Breville Milk Frother for milk. Easy setting and wash.

  • Check out the cleaning video, there is so much to clean….

I will stick with my cheap Kmart semi automatic and just throw everything into the dishwasher at the end of day.

  • Landfill in 3 years lol

Honestly, have had a very bad experience with Delonghi automatic machines. They’re always over-extracting and dialing the machine is unnecessarily complicated compared to a proper espresso machine.
The grind settings are way too limited (there’s a 1-6 grind setting knob you turn) and the grind is very inconsistent. The weight of beans used can’t be adjusted, (there’s an aroma setting but that’s temperature).
As a result you cannot adjust the flow either by finer grind, and amount of beans so it makes dialing in a shot an almost impossible task. The only thing consistent about it is that it’ll consistently overextract your coffee.

You cannot change the amount of ground coffee in the puck. Only the amount of water used during extraction (extraction time, delonghi refers to it as ‘amount of coffee’) though you also don’t know the weight of the grounds used because it isn’t consistent.

Tldr delonghi automatic machines are cursed for anyone who’s serious about drinking coffee, even a french press would be a significantly better investment than this.

I got the plus model from the qantas store in jan for sweet fa points, have been very happy with it. Cleaning is pretty straight forward and seems fine most annoying part is the descaling. Plenty of options to get the coffee you want. Was worried about temperatures as I saw complaints about this but temperature is fine, there's options specifically for it I just turned those up and hasn't been an issue.

I'm not a coffee aficionado though nor was I expecting perfection, all I know is I'm happy with it and glad to get a coffee without all the bs steps I was doing beforehand with a manual/semi auto breville.

edit: I know this bargain isn't for the plus model but from my research at the time I don't think there's much between the two.

Deloghni/breville/sunbeam are cheap Chinese garbage. Won't last you more than 3 years, probably start getting problems with less. Better off long term getting a Jura that are manufactured in Portugal/Switzerland or a similar quality brand. The Jura i've got is about 17 years old and runs like clockwork with only one service. Might cost a bit more but you'll pay for it over the long term with a high quality machine that will never let you down.

    • Breville doesn't even do full automatics, so I am not how you chose those three specific brands.

    • +2

You sound like a Jura rep.

    • My Breville Oracle outlasted my much more expensive prosumer Expobar (made in Spain and only 1 year warranty). After 2 $500 repair bills I sold off the Expobar.

Bought one of these a couple of months ago. It has been absolutely brilliant, the only problem is I am drinking more coffee than I even have due to working from home.

  • Bought this one today. Happy with the cappucino. Flat white was too much for a 200ml cup. But with the coffee in general I am happy. With some playing around I am sure it will be even better.
Stock at Costco Moorabbin same price as online.
