$200 to upgrade from i5 -> i7, and 8gb -> 16gb is definitely worth it.
Definitely - especially since the i5 in that other Acer is only 4 cores, while this one has 6. It's a bit misleading how Intel puts fewer cores into their mobile CPUs.
This is honestly such a great laptop for its price. A friend had the 1660 Ti version which he got for cheap by skimping on the memory and storage, but he upgraded both in 6 months. And he moves around a lot, but this wasn't unwieldy for him to carry everywhere either.
So both RAM and storage are upgradeable? What is the maximum amount of RAM this supports, and at what speeds?
Damn why 1 stick of 16GB Ram.
Anyone know the refresh rate?
According to the reviews on the HN site it's 60Hz.
reckon its a good idea to snag this up, or wait till tax time for better deals? (not sure genuine advice pls?)
It may get cheaper or it may sell out or something better might come along or it might not.
If you want it and have the money then snag it, and don't live wondering. Happy Gaming!
I have been tracking this laptop since the black Friday sales. I don't think it will go cheaper but more likely to be sold out and replaced by a newer model.
Lots of YouTube video show that it is pretty easy to upgrade the ram and rom. Please link me a video on how to upgrade the rom
This one was pretty detailed with different upgrades. I'm not that tech savvy, but I would probably be able do these.
It has thunderstorms port
perfect for sydneysiders, then
Lmao

where do you see in the spec sheets that there are thunderbolt ports? I can't seem to see this on any review sites or on official Acer website etc
Thunderstorms only
How close to desktop is the performance of a 2060 on a laptop? Does it have proper ray tracing?
Desktop 15-20% better on average.
Bought the Predator Helios for $1596 instead
https://www.harveynorman.com.au/acer-predator-helios-300-15-…noob question but what is the differences between the two?
Excellent question. Base specs are the same. Unsure whether the Nitro has 144Hz screen or a DP port, which the Pred has. The Predator "should" be better quality and I think it looks better anyway, with its blue accented cover.
However, the Predator is heavier and I dont think the battery lasts as long. Also has a overclocking mode button. My local HN has both available as demos, so if you can go have a look. Great prices for both.
FYI For those thinking of this as a gift for $50 more you can get this laptop (or predator) and a Predator Backpack & waist bag. Free delivery.

Also I dont think its being mentioned, all RTX laptops get Outriders PC game free (not released yet) https://acerpromotions.com.au/predator/
Or I guess the i5 version for $1297 https://www.harveynorman.com.au/acer-nitro-5-15-6-inch-i5-10…
