  edit: although maybe no 3mm padding … but I feel like this is standard in these things when my old ones have ripped you see some foam lining …

    Of course 3mm padding worth not too much money, but if factory have to insert it into interlayer, and to avoid bubble, the padding must be well stick with the surface and bottom side fabric, it means labor cost and more difficult quality control. Further more, insert 3mm padding will cause the folded size of the picnic mat more than 5 times bigger, it means postage double. All is cost, hope you can understand.
