  • Looks like AU stock is gone already, it's defaulted to US stock @ $193.95

    • Great, even cheaper 👌

    • The "AU" stock is actually US stock but located in AU. These are the frustration free packaged ones. Amazon AU seems to get a bunch of surplus stock from the US to be sold locally here, so I suspect warranties may vary if you want to claim it via the manufacturer.

I got the WD 10TB with US plug from Amazon AU (shipped and sold by), and a Cooks Standard pot which actually came with a shipping label from Amazon US to Amazon AU.

      • so I suspect warranties may vary if you want to claim it via the manufacturer.

Nope. Amazon are an authorised AU reseller, so if your receipt matches up, then its up to them to work on their supply chain; you as a customer purchased an official product, from an authorised store, in your country.

        • That's why I said if you want to claim it from the manufacturer directly. So your only recourse is via the retailer, but when its 4.5 years after purchase? They will definitely give you the run around telling you to get it from manufactuer.

It ain't about the consumer protection or the TPA, its about the time wasted chasing the bs up.

          • @dyziplen: No issues there either, just show the receipt to the manufacturer also. They request it anyway as date of purchase.

You sound like you've had shithouse luck with seagate; they've always been very smooth for my rma services.

            • @MasterScythe: Good luck if your drive doesn't show up as an AU stock while you are trying to claim with an AU receipt. Then you try to convince them how Amazon shipped you US stock even though you brought it from AU.

Region specific warranties are a thing you know.

              • @dyziplen: Thanks for the luck, but I dont need it, the process is already so smooth.

    • Someone must have cancelled their order as I managed to snag one at the $201 price last night.
Good timing as I had a rather full 4TB drive fail on me earlier in the day

  • That’s cheaper then if you get free delivery yea?

  • These are $199.20 on Ebay with the Afterpay Day Sale and it's Australian stock.

  • I vowed to not buy any sg harddisk anymore after my third sg broke.

    • Ironwolf or another type of SG? I've had numerous problems with SG before moving to WD Reds and now about to purchase my 2nd and 3rd ironwolf
