For reference this is the new model I think.

  • $$

    • Its 719 as per the title. That could be 719 cents, dollars, pounds or peanuts.

  • For those interested, the original price of this was $1199 & they come with a 5yr warranty as far as I'm aware.
Also, IKEA Logan store in Brisbane are also selling it for $719 (I bought one at the weekend).

  • 78cm wide for those interested.
    I think Choice reviewed it

  • Was in the market for a new cooktop, but resizing from a 90cm to a 80cm seems like a pain.

  • +1

IKEA's range of induction cooktops is changing substantially in the next few months (many new models already available overseas).

    • Thanks @bloomer! I've been hanging out for IKEA to introduce a 30cm induction hob for ages (that's all that will fit in my little apartment; and all the other decent brands are stupidly expensive). Based on your comment, I just checked the UK site and see this one: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/vaelbildad-induction-hob-ikea-3… I seriously hope it makes it to AU soon-ish! :)

      • Sorry, bad news on that one — I was told explicitly that that one isn't coming (not enough demand anticipated) — but I'm just a customer, so the info might not have been accurate from the employee (but I'm assuming it was).

I've seen that the portable induction cooktop (Tillreda?) is being discontinued in Sweden, so it might vanish here eventually.

  • Anyone had one installed that was previously using a gas cooktop? Is it expensive for a sparky to run new high amp cables to power the thing (apartment)

    • +1

Apartments can be basically impossible to run 32A wiring into if it doesn't already exist. You'd need to talk to a sparky/body corp/other occupants.

  • I bought one of these full price @$1199 less than a month ago… Anyone have any success getting the difference back from IKEA in a similar situation? Bought with real money using debit card … 😬

    • Why not buy and return with your other receipt?

      BTW… using it yet?

      • That is understated genius.

      • Indeed this is genius, I think I will. Yes I have been using it and it seems to be as good if not better than the (broken) Electrolux one it replaced, which would have been closer to $2k in this size. Still learning how to use the big smart multizone but so far so good

        • Did you install yourself? Any issues with sizing of existing holes in bench?

          • @hippyhippy: No had an electrician do it, previous unit was 78cm wide as well so the cutout didn't need modification. One corner was abit tight because the stone bench top cutout was rounded in the corner rather than 90 degrees but it fits in just, nice and snug
