Bpay don't count, few comments addressing this

    • Thank you

  • Nice deal, let's see if I am accepted.

  • +1

Already have 3 CC. Wondering if I'll get approved for a fourth.

  • How does it work once approval, you just spend $1500 and then it auto triggers to ask you what gift card you want?

    • It usually checks at the statement period. If total spend has exceeded 1500 they will end you an email with an option to select a gift card.

  • +1

Churned this in December. Was easy process and spend, grabbed the $500 card + $25 from normal rewards spend. Closed immediately afterwards.
    Quality deal

  • If I am not buying a house in the near future, should I still care about the credit score?

I got knocked back from excellent to very good for applying 2 cards within a month. I pay the full balance every month.

    • +1

Define “near future”. If you’re not thinking about it for 2 years plus then go for it. I believe credit scores can stay on your file for up to 7 years

  • Got rejected with a credit score of 800+ , wat?

    • something wrong in the questions you answered.

i got to the "send us your income" stage.

      hopefully wont get rejected lol

      • Be careful with the expenses - I was listing them as yearly, but they were being interpreted as monthly (near the bottom). So the final monthly expense was calculated as ~$18,000.
So I changed them all to monthly expenses and this worked out.

        • I didn’t catch that when applying and they called to ask if I really earnt so much money

  • +1

Strange. I have what I think is a fairy decent income and high credit score and got rejected.

    Strange.

    Oh well

    • +6

What is the going salary for a fairy these days?

      • Ha well played. Apparently not enough for an ANZ platinum credit card.

    • do you have mortgage? high mortgage payment may contribute the rejection

      • Yeah, live in Sydney - so definitely a high mortgage!

        Must be it.

  • +1

Any idea how long it takes to get approved and get the card? Am thinking of prepaying as much of my private health insurance as I can before the rates change on 1st April. Last time I did this, they let me pay about 10 months in advance. Not worth doing if I don't get the card by 31st March.

    • +1

I got approved (different ANZ card) exactly 1 week after applying, still waiting for the card though.
Before the 31st of March might be tight, but could still be possible.
I would not wait until tomorrow if you want to take the chance.

  • If anyone has used this. How good is the ANZ rewards for ongoing usage? Currently do Coles MasterCard and get 2 flybuys points per $1 spend and get frequent bonus flybuys points offers.
How often do you get bonus offers like 'spend $50 at coles and get 1000bonus flybuys points'

    • I don't think the rewards itself are good, never really did the calculation, but I'll probably be cancelling this card and forfeiting some points.
Edit: The min points you need looks to be 4,445 and that's a $20 voucher.
      So that's 0.0067491563554556 / $ (assuming you don't spend >$2000 in 1 month) ~ 0.67%

  • Anyone know if the rules also apply to secondary card holders, as opposed to account holders? I already have one of these accounts in my name, and the wife is just an additional card holder (so as far as the bank is concerned it is just me label for the monthly payment), so she's not the actual account holder. Do you know if this would disqualify her from applying for one herself in her own name and getting the bonus?

    • +1

She can apply under her name and she will still get bonus as she does not own the card under her name she is only additional card holder.

      • Cheers, that's what I hoped.

  • does it mean that its going to be approved if we get to the income verification stage?

  • I just spoke to an online agent of ANZ, she told me paying off 1500for anything as long as they are not cash advance transactions. But on the anz website it says cash advance transition includes various other types of transactions (for example, where a credit card is used to pay a bill at a bank branch or via an approved agent of the biller i.e. tertiary fees or utility bills).

So my question is we can’t use the card to pay bills to meet the requirement, such as strata, water or council bills?

  • +2

    Rejected….

  • is $1500 has to be one off purchase, or can be multiple purchase over the 3 months period? thanks

    • +2

      Multiple purchases are allowed.

  • It's one gift card per person right, not per household?

  • Just applied, not sure if am eligible, just bought a house with loan …

  • +4

I joined them for the promo last time around. Impressed with their service and UI/UX. App feels good, and with regards to promo of $500, the moment you hit it, an email is sent to you. Zero fuss unlike citibank during the last kmart and flybuys promo, had to call them up over and over to follow up. Now based on the good experience I'm tempted to make them my main card. Could not recommend enough.

    • Yep ANZ have it down pat.

Good thing that they also have ripper churning options as well.

    • Haha XD I cannot recommend them at all. Out of all the banks I’ve been with, they have been the worst! I’ll still sign up and take their money though, they still get sign ups and data so win win for both I guess.

  • +2

Ugh. ANZ. last time i tried to apply they took all my details, called me multiple times to verify details the previous call centre agent already verified, then ghosted me for weeks.

When I had enough I told them I didn't want it anymore and then 2 months later someone calls me apologizing for the delay in getting to my application.

    Geez. No thanks.

  • I had an ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures card around 12 months ago. Can I call them to figure out exactly when I ended my card with them?

Would love to sign up for this but need to make sure I’m eligible.

    • And does anyone know if the ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum counts as an ANZ Rewards card? Not sure how to find that info, I know it’s not in the name but in a way it is a ‘rewards’ card.

  • $65 per additional card seems a bit steep. Still tempting overall though.

    • +6

Why do you need an additional card holder?
Just add the card in Apple/google play.

  • Almost tempted to apply and go through all that effort for the $500, spend the money pay the credit card out and cancel it.

I'm sure there's a loophole somewhere in there that wont let me do that

    • +2

That's exactly what lots of people do. People would go even further and apply for a credit card that gives you reward points instead of a gift card. That actually involves them having to go sell the points to someone to get the cash. This arguably makes it even easier.

    • +2

No loophole. This will be maybe the 5th credit card deal I take up in 4 years. Not much money, maybe $1,500, but free money is free money.

  • +1

If you get this, can you still get the Black Platinum card they normally do?

$1,500 is easy to hit for $500 bonus I gotta admit!

  • I am self-employed ATM. my last tax return was less than $30k. any chance getting an approval?

    • +1

      Probably not

    • Try first, I just did. If you don't apply, the answer is always no.

  • It is much much easier to get an ANZ cc approved than an AMEX

    • It used to be the other way around. Amex at one point in time was basically giving everyone and their mum a credit card.

      • Why is it harder now? What criteria did they add in?

  • Is there an salary component regarding the eligibility criteria? If so, what value are they after?

  • How long will this promotion last? I have just begun a new job and it'll be two weeks before I can provide the "Two recent pay slips for income verification."

    • Asked for 3 months of payslips for me

      • Yep you're right, oh well!

  • Applied yesterday, let you guys know how it goes, if you shop at once place like Woolworths or Coles, do a quick 3 month add up of your spend to see how close you get to the 3 month qualifying amount before you commit

    • Why just one place though? You can spend the $1500 almost anywhere, surely most people can achieve that in one way or another. E.g. car rego, insurances, phone bills etc. can often be done by CC and can help reach the $1500 if you don't spend $1500 just on groceries.

      • Don't have insurance, don't drive a car, only get an annual mobile plan, some people don't have expenses like me lol. I only used one place because groceries is one area you can do a single search on your accounts and easily tally up

    • +1

You can just buy giftcards to make up any shortfall.

  • Gotta be a pr?

    • Affirmative

      • ;(

  • Guys, can applying to check your credit score help determine whether you should make the CC application? Because if CC application is declined it will affect your credit score.

  • +1

The three months for spending 1500. When it going to start, from the day of submitting the application or the day of receiving approval?

    • +1

Usually it's the day of approval.

    • -1

LOL How will you spend money on the card that you haven't even been approved for?

      • -4

I don’t think they will reject my application.

        • -1

Missing the point yet again LOL

Let me rephrase it for you.

You asked from what point the 1500 spend requirement kicks in and whether it starts from the day of submitting the application. Has it still not occurred to you how silly that question is? You can't spend on the card until the card is issued to you (not sure whether ANZ do digital card like Westpac) so how could you possibly start spending against the 1500 spend requirement from the day of submitting the application?

          • @keejoonc: t y

          • -1

@keejoonc: The intent of the question was not "Can I start spending money on the card before I am pproved", rather "when do I have to spend the money by". The 3-month timer often starts before you receive the card, as you are often approved before you receive the card details or card in the mail. So this same situation of "can't spend yet, but the timer has started". So it is not a stretch that the bank might want to catch people out by an extra week or two by starting the timer from date of application rather than approval.

            • -1

@mathematicalcoffee: Tell me one bank that starts counting the day from the date of application. I've never ever come across such silly situation before.
Besides, for a card like this that only requires $1500 spend in 3 months, does that even matter?

  • Do u have to do a balance transfer from another card to apply?

  • +1

Does anyone know how long it takes for ANZ to confirm your status of your application?

    • +1

Someone wrote earlier that his/her's took 1 week. I don't expect it to be quick. I applied late last night, got an email requesting payslip documents and submitted that early this morning.

      • ok thanks I'm still waiting for an email. Other banks email comes pretty much instant so was wondering why.

    • Applied yesterday, already accepted.

      • Have you uploaded the payslips and other document part of application submission? After i applied, i got the reference number but email says that we will notified if they need more information.

        • +1

          yep, did it straight away.

          • @vee124: Nice great. i have uploaded few mins before. lets see how long they take it for approval.

  • The link does not work for me from the Points Hack website.

    • Safari seemed to block it, I used chrome and it worked (from iphone)

  • +1

I applied but didn't get any email? Did I make a typo in the email field?

    • +1

Nope. Same happened to me. I got an email the next morning asking for payslips.

  • Rejected…doesn't make sense..☹ Starting to think ANZ have something against me!
    Really wanted that $500!!

  • I applied yesterday got a call today which I missed.
I called back and they said they don't allow people to call up to apply and they will call me back, but won't be able to call back until tomorrow, which is weird.

But I guess it shows they're pretty quick to get back to you.

I did get an email and submitted 3 months of payslips.

    • +1

I applied for the Qantas one and found their communication left a lot to be desired. They send an SMS saying they're going to call, and then call you instantly - like too soon after sending the SMS that it defeats the purpose of trying to give a heads up. If you don't answer, they don't leave a message (except for once that was impossible to understand), they SMS you saying they'll email you, except they don't email you. So you're left having no idea what documents they're after. If you try calling them, they can't transfer calls to the applications team, all they can do is email me (like you can do yourself) and ask for a call back. Don't bother specifying a time frame that suits you; they'll ignore it.

    • I applied yesterday as well and uploaded the payslips there and then. Still haven't heard back from them.

      • They don't respond in 1 day - I received a phone call during the 3rd business day. (3 payslips wasn't sufficient, I needed to provide banks statements of the bank where I received my pay).
I applied and received my card in <14 days (incl weekend) - ANZ Black FF (I was approved roughly 1 week after applying).

        • Last time I applied for ANZ Black FF, it was approved in less than 2 days.

  • I got approved in about 24 hours, card on the way.

    • Same, uploaded the 1 payslip and it was all good the next day. Woo!

    • I was approved about 32 hours after submitting a payslip.

  • Hi - can this be applied in a company name ? Or does it have to be under an individual?

  • +1

Damn, I got this card a couple of months ago, such offer wasn't offered then :( sad

  • Got the approval first thing this morning.

  • -1

Lol what a joke, as i was getting a "covid bonus" they will not accept any of my payslips, even though i never included that extra money on my application…

She said the only way i could continue is by providing 7 payslips without any covid bonus on them, thats not happening as it only ended last month.

  • What exactly are the eligible purchases?

    • "Eligible purchases cover most transactions, with the normal exclusions of fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, balance transfers and transactions for gambling or gaming."
