Hi bergerberger,
All shipping charges are calculated through our website before completion of checkout so you can see. To give you an idea, most combos shipped anywhere in Qld, NSW or Victoria are between $10-$25 depending on exactly where you are. If you like, you can also email through your inquiry or chat to us through the echat feature on our website and we can calculate delivery charges for you that way too.
Sounds like an infomercial on late night tv. Would not go near this with a 10ft pole.
Hillman 7 Person Tent with Hooded Canopy/Porch - $118
Are you sure this is usually $239? You list the original price as $349 on your website but google cache reveals you usually sell it for $129.
Dishonestly gets a neg from me.
RRP $349 as quoted on manufacturers website. Before this post though we were selling at $239 which is our own usual sale price, slight confusion I know but it's been marked down twice which is where you've gotten lost.
For your own comfort, I have changed the "was" price to $239 to reflect our usual price before we had our Christmas and January sales.
Google Cache shows you were selling it at $129 prior to this post.
Double dishonesty get a double neg.
hey rep, I have 2 questions:
the sleeping bag says its temp range is " -15 to 10 degree Celsius", can you confirm this is correct as it seems most sleeping bags around this price range can only go to +5 to +10 degrees?
Can I have two sleeping bags for $40 instead of the bag+mattress combo
Thanks
homersyd well spotted on the bag, there is no way that design/weight/material will have a -15C rating.
I suspect even at 5 degrees you are going to be very cold. To me this looks like a summer/indoor bag at best.
-15 is high quality down territory or very heavy synthetic (at a push)
thats my 2c
thanks mate, I'm a noob when it comes to camping gear…so just wanted to confirm with the rep…so I guess the description on their site is not accurate then…
no worries, although the rep might not give you a conclusive answer (see below)
I have 4 sleeping bags (yes you read that right)
one is for cold weather walks - rated to -15 (extreme limit) its a down mummy bag and cost around $600 at the time (ultralight)
one is for warm walking its synthetic and light, and is more robust than down (down has problems when it gets wet)
one is for backpacking, its for indoor use and is really small and light
and the last one is a very cheap heavy one for car campingits also worth remembering that if you plan to be somewhere cold you need a full sized good quality sleep mat.
But if you are just going car camping in the summer a cheap baggie will do. And you can always take a quilt in cooler weather to supplement it
Hi Homersyd,
The sleeping bag contains 300gms/m2 of cotton which does keep you rather warm when inside. As specified by the manufacturer this sleeping bag does have a temp range of -15 to 10 degree celsius, however I have not personally tested this in an area so cold.. I own one of these sleeping bags too, but the coldest weather I would have encountered would have been low minuses (-1, -2, -3, around there somewhere) when I was camping just outside of Bathurst.
I know the price difference is a jump but we are a direct imported which is how we can be so price competitive on all of our products.
Unfortunately we are unable to provide you with two sleeping bags for $40 however as the deals are pretty much locked when on sale. However, if you really want to grab one they can be purchased individually for $25, so two will only cost you $50.
Let me know how you go :)
Well I can't fault the rep for responding, but there is no way I would use that bag at that sort of temperature.
And to be honest I think its misrepresentation.
My understanding is there are generally four temperature ratings for sleeping bags.
Theres two that apply here - "comfort rating" which is as it sounds, and the "extreme rating" which means that you basically will survive but spend the entire night as cold as a popsicle but alive.
Rep you should contact the supplier and get a meaningful number, or how about you go camping with the bag and mat at -15 degrees and tell me how you fare?
I am sorry if it sounds rude but just think if someone actually relied on your figures :(
Oh and I have to agree with the other neg poster, it smacks of not being honest
If the manufacturer says it, the rep isn't being dishonest: it's not his fault if he hasn't slep in every sleeping bag he sells?? Maybe this is just a bargain !!
Imagine if you applied the same test to every item @ HN - might find a few questionable statements on boxes there: but there just might be a bargain too?!?that's incorrect.
if the rep was selling all sorts of stuff including things that were unrelated to camping, then it would be reasonable to assume that they have no idea on what constitutes a good sleeping bag… and it would be equally reasonable for them to rely on the claims of the manufacturer.
but that's not the case here!
rep has posted from a company with a website that is dedicated to camping. it would be quite reasonable for a buyer to assume more than novice knowledge of sleeping bags, and to NOT just rely on outlandish manufacturer claims.looking at other sleeping bags on the market online, there is NO WAY IN HELL this bag will be suitable for -15 as claimed, and the rep turning a blind eye as above doesnt do this company any favours at all.
if they were a bargain site selling special buys and didnt know anything about camping goods, fair enough. but they arent.
im negging because this product (based on picture and description provided) is not accurate. i wont use stronger words, but a big neg from me regardless.
I have to disagree, in my opinion if its clear the manufacturers information is not correct then the retailer needs to take that into account.
You cannot say "oh thats what I got told, so thats what I am telling you". There is a duty owed to sell something that is fit for purpose.
And perhaps there are dubious statments on HN boxes, in which case that would not be OK either.
Lets say I am a retailer selling kids toys, I get a toy with small removable parts that are a choking hazard. The manufacturer tells me its OK for "all ages" including infants. Is it still OK to advertise and sell it as such?
I think not.
I do sort of understand your point seanbsydney but for me its not acceptable.
Its not too hard to put a comfort level of +15C on this bag in a webpage.
well said.
(i replied to seanbsydney in agreement with you, but now reading the way the forum has displayed my post, your post makes less sense. sorry about that).
I concur, well said UFO
no worries UFO - you put it better than me anyhow :)
Group hug!!! 8)
be nice to have an idea of shipping charges.
