3731

November 2021 - See new/latest post here

OzReminder for those who may not be familiar with this hack. Thank you for the original post Ulysses31. Here are some steps to setup a Turkish or Argentinian Netflix account to save $$$. Results may vary so its best to read up, there are plenty of comments below and members happy to help. Unfortunately it may not work for everyone so please keep that in mind.

Netflix plans

Turkey Basic $4.66 Standard $7.07 Ultra $9.49/month
Argentina Basic $4.02 Standard $6.61 Ultra $9.64/month (Note: Taxes will apply)

Step 1: Please understand that following all these steps may not work for you

There is no need for aggression in instances where you are unable to subscribe to an international Netflix account. Share your experience so everyone can chip in and help out. There are plenty of examples where hacks shared on this platform do not work for some people, but may work for others:
* Modem reset for faster internet,
* Cash back program purchase tracking,
* Price matching an unobtainable deal or price error,
* Targeted bargains, and
* Limited quantity items quickly or instant (bot) sellout.
Similarly we know there are cash back users who follow every single step for cash back (turn off ad blocker, have no items in cart, do not click other links, etc.) on their purchases and it does not work, its probably best to move on.There are many users who successfully use this hack and enjoy paying half the price of the Australian membership. Unfortunately there are also many users who have been unable to sign up to Netflix Turkey or Argentina. After all it is intended for people who reside in Turkey or Argentina. If it does not work, I am not affiliated with any of the entities listed below or linked to and cannot guarantee any outcome. I can only read comments on this platform and others to share them with you. Your patience is appreciated. Please do not take it personally.

Step 2: Obtain a Turkish or Argentinian VPN

Express VPN
PureVPN
Torguard
VyprVPN
Windscribe

Step 3: Confirm Turkish/Argentinian IP

IP Check

Step 4: Sign Up to Netflix

In a private-browsing tab open Netflix

Step 5: Enter Card Details

Possibly working: 28 Degrees, ANZ Rewards, Citibank Debit, Macquarie
Mixed reports: CBA, ING

FAQs

Q My bank blocked my payment, what do I do?
A Some banks block 1st attempt and then text to confirm it's you. Once you reply, 2nd attempt may work.

Q Where can I purchase a Turkish Netflix gift card?
A Others have had success purchasing Turkish Netflix gift cards (for a premium) or using Transfer Wise.

Q I have an existing Netflix subscription, can I use the same email?
A You can try! Visit Netflix website and cancel your subscription ASAP. It will expire at the end of the billing period. Then follow Step 1-5.

Q I thought it would cost $4.66 but I was billed for $5.00.
A Please note that changes in the foreign exchange rate will impact the subscription fee. Happy to update.

Q How do I enter an international mobile number?
A Ignore any requests for a mobile, open Netflix in a new tab and confirm account is working. If you must, there are a couple of resources for codes being sent to an international mobile number. Please note that these services may not work since others may have used the numbers for verification codes from Netflix SMS Codes PVA Codes SMS-Activate SMS Approval.

Q Do I need to use a VPN every time I access Netflix?
A No, VPN is only required for sign up. After sign up, use Netflix without a VPN and you will have access to the Australian Netflix library.

    • solved… I had to sign in using the button on the top right hand side and not the email field in the middle of the screen

Here is the process that worked for me (CBA Debit Card):

    1. Let my existing Netflix Australia subscription expire.

    2. Purchased 100TL Netflix Turkey Gift Card from g2a from this link.

    3. Signed up to HMA 7 day VPN trial here

    4. Turned VPN on and set to Turkey.

    5. Sign in using the link on the top right hand corner of the website (not the one in the middle).

    6. Select Plan and use Gift card as payment method.

    7. Enter Gift card key. Got the key instantly from g2a (Step 2) but didn't work instantly. I thought I got scammed, but tried steps 3 - 7 again 30min later and it worked .

    8. Click continue for mobile number (no need to enter mobile number), just click continue without typing anything.

    9. Installed the Netflix app on my phone and logged in without VPN.

    10. Went to the help and support page to get the live chat.

    11. Once in live chat, just said that "I was chatting with another person before being disconnected and they were going to send me a secure link to add my card details". The person I chatted to initially wouldn't give it, so quit the chat and tried again.

    12. Added my CBA card into the secure form successfully and was charged a small authorization fee immediately. Card was added successfully and can now see it as a back up payment method once my Gift card expires.

    • nice find,will try

    • Hi all, just want to confirm that this process worked for me. I was able to add my Citibank debit card into the form no issues. Chatted to the service rep without VPN.

    • Once in live chat, just said that "I was chatting with another person before being disconnected and they were going to send me a secure link to add my card details". The person I chatted to initially wouldn't give it, so quit the chat and tried again.

Can confirm the above step worked for me - after security questions and I told them what colour underpants I had on i was prompted to enter new card details within the chat box window…will have to wait for billing cycle / my turkey netflix credits run out

  • +1

I just restarted a new plan with Brazil Netflix. I got charged $10.95 for the top plan. I tried enormous times with Turkey without any luck, so I went with Brazil instead. It was very smooth. I just changed the credit card to my 28 degrees card to save conversion fee in the future.

  • Used the original method previously (With NordVPN) but my cards (ING Debit / Bankwest Credit) did not work so i used a gift card (As i couldnt be bothered with chat support). Once 100TL gift card ran out i got "Billing Issue" as it tried to revert to my saved paypal. I then tried to add a Bankwest Debit card before buying another gift card and it actualy worked, removing and replacing my paypal default payment and billing 29.99TL.

  • So I signed up to this last night.

New account. Never had Netflix before.

Bought 100tl Netflix gift card from g2a. Received within minutes of purchasing.

    Turned off location on tablet
    Cleared cache on Google chrome.
Connected to Turvey VPN using windscribe VPN. Free to sign up to this. You get 10GB a month free.

Created my netflix account in incognito mode on chrome.

Entered gift card in the redeem gift card portion.

When asked to enter mobile number for account recovery. I pressed skip.

    That's it.

Turned smart tv on. Open Netflix app. Sign into Netflix using my created account. And it's working. No VPN.

Haven't tried entering another payment option though.

    • You should be able to enter your local card details now for when gift card expires and also your local mobile number

      • Do I have to connected to VPN while I do this?

        • I did not have to when I did it but that was few months back

  • Confirmed it worked for me.

After letting my AUS subscription expire, I did the following:
    1. Opened up new browser window (already logged into Netflix Aus)
    2. It asked me to go through signup process again
    3. When i got to the plans page it showed AUS prices
    4. Turned on Windscribe VPN
    5. Had to refresh the page twice and the prices changed
    6. Selected the Ultra Plan and it showed 55 TL
    7. Finished setup process, closed the window and turned off the VPN
    8. Opened up new window and my membership restarted
    9. Checked billing details and it shows it will charge 55 TL

    • What payment method you using? I'm trying to do exactly the same thing but I get a error processing your payment when trying to use the existing 28 degrees card attached to the account.

      • My Westpac card was on my account before it expired

edit: i'm going to get charged FT fee but I don't mind

Renew existing AU Netflix subscription via Turkey without gift card

Confirming the below worked for me.

I have an existing Netflix account, with AU phone number and ING (via VISA) credit card previously set up. No need to buy a Turkey gift card.

After letting my AU subscription expire by half a day, I did the following:

    1. Installed Hola VPN Firefox extension
    2. Opened up private Firefox browser
    3. Log into Netflix AU and confirm Ultra HD plan was 20 AUD p/m
    4. Turn on Hola and select Turkey
    5. Refresh page and confirm that Ultra HD plan was 55 TL p/m
    6. Finish the renewal process
    7. Turn off Hola
    8. Check Account > Plan Details and confirm plan is still 55 TL p/m
    • Bummer it wont let me take CBA Mastercard says 'There appears to be a problem with the payment method you are trying to use.'

  • So last month I noticed a large increase in my Argentina Ultra netflix account fee. It's jumped up from about $9 AUD to $15 AUD. Very strange. When I check my netflix payment history it says it charged ARS669 but that can't be right because that should be only $9.50 AUD?

    edit: Looks like that's pre-tax
edit2: Saw posts above have the same issue. Looks like a huge price increase on Argentina netflix account. Is Turkey now cheaper?

    • Try turkey Netflix. Got charged 55 Turkish lira. Which is is around AUD$9

Bought Netflix gift card. 100tl is about AUD$20

      • Ok thanks is that on Ultra?

Also how would I go about switching from Argentina to Turkey? Cancel Argentina subscription and let it expire, then sign up to Turkey with vpn?

        • I'm on ultra at the moment.

Wouldn't know how to go about switching from Argentina to turkey. But others have switched from au account to turkey.

My guess is same. Let it expire. Sign in to account. VPN to turkey server. Then renew account when it show turkey prices.

    • Turkey and Argentina both went up 30%

Turkey is only cheaper now if you are on the non standard plan otherwise Argentina still cheapest

      • +2

Not true. Turkey is cheapest regardless. Make sure you factor in the Argentina tax which ends up being 64% on the listed price.

  • I previously couldn’t add my 28 degrees card so purchased Turkish gift card. I’m currently paid up till May. I just tried to add my 28 degrees card as a backup payment and it worked!

    • Did you do this while connected to VPN or not?

      • +1

        No VPN used

        • been trying for on-off for the last 3 month… no good.. :(

          • @blehgg: I was using discounted gift cards, today received email that my account will end in 7 days, so went in and tried 28 Degrees whilst on Surfshark VPN and it worked

            • @Lucille Bluth: ahh nice ~ gotta wait till expiry..

I used the netflix chat option ~ finally worked.

  • +1

I used the VPN gift card/new sign up method. All good just had to use live chat to add a back up credit card.

    • In the live chat did they ask any questions? Where you are located etc?

      • Curious about this too as one day my gift card will run out and I would like to have my banking details or PayPal in it.

        • I just used the chat and they updated it for me (28 Degrees) no questions asked. I was connected to a Turkey VPN but i dont know if this makes a difference.

  • great

  • Bought Netflix 100 Lira from MTC $18.82 but then they say its sold out.
Trendyol also sold out (at least they disclose that)

Using my AU netflix account that I have logged into to turkey using PIA, and trying to pay with Westpac CC. but its now asking for Turkey mobile number (even though my AU mobile is in there)

Would G2A giftcard bypass the mobile number issue?

    • i signed up and paid with gift card bought from G2A. it asked for a mobile but i skipped the step.

      • thanks, i ended up buying from G2A also (waiting for MTC to get stock) and it allowed me to enter the AU mobile number and also validated my email address.

Now to test on the Smart TV. Fingers crossed.

        • you did this while connected to vpn?

          • @xoom: yes, all via PIA VPN.

update: all running on Smart TV.

And MTC sent the code through. now to apply it.
WIll mean i will have 200 Lira ( at 54.99 lira per month for the Ultimate, so almost 4months for under $40.)

now to decide whether to keep Amazon Prime.

  • Finally got it working on second try. Hopefully these tips will help someone.

    1. Before your plan ends, make sure your payment method is a debit/credit card (ING worked for me but Citibank didn't) because Turkey doesn't use PayPal. My ING card was already preselected as the payment method after I chose my plan on VPN Turkey.
    2. Add your phone number to your account. I believe this allowed me to bypass the mobile number check because on my first try I could not skip the mobile number verification.
  • A lot of effort to finally get this working. Just some data for people who are trying:

    1. Expired Australian account.
    2. Tried many times using various VPN (Windscribe, Hola etc). Every time it fails when I try to update the credit card for payment. All my cards failed including Citibank Debit, 86400, 28 Degree, Transferwise, BankWest Debit.
    3. Resort to using a giftcard bought from MTC
    4. Successfully paid with giftcard.
    5. Contacted customer support via chat to update credit card details - they asked me to try various cards, contact card issurer, even asking me to consider using their partner Vodafone for payment. I said I don't want to use a third party to pay.
    6. Have to tell them that a previous agent was going to send me a secure form.
    7. Secure form - I want to use my Citibank Debit card and it initially failed. Citibank sent me an SMS because they blocked the transaction (despite me calling Citibank before hand to get them to expect a transaction from Turkey). I sent Citibank "Y" through SMS to confirm my transaction, then got secure form to try again and it worked finally.
    8. Because I still have gift card credit, I won't be charged until the credit runs out in 3 weeks so that will be the moment of truth.

    Good luck with your attempt!

    • Thanks.

My mate is at step 5.
I was able to use my transfer wise and he wasn’t.

  • Damn. Just got email. Price increase of 30%!!

    • Argentina only tho right?

      • +1

Turkey. Got email today. Going from 41.99 to 54.99 :

        Hi Andrew

We hope you’re enjoying everything Netflix has to offer. We’re updating our prices to bring you more great entertainment. Your monthly price will change to 54.99 TL on 4 May 2021.

This update will allow us to deliver even more value for your membership – with stories that lift you up, move you or simply make your day a bit better.

        • Jesus. Someone said it's just for new members

Mine expires tomorrow with argentina and I was swapping to turkey because of then30% increase

I am so tired of being taken advantage of.

$1 a month over 80 yrs of my life is enough for many xiaomi

          • @AussieMark: I’ve had mine on Turkey for 2-3 years, and I got pushed to higher rate

        • i think post title has already have a new price listed?

          • @langitbiru: Yeah it does. Ultra was costing me $6.40 and with the increase it’ll now be $9.50.

No complaints here personally, still a great price vs local sub price.

  • I got charged $6.91 for Ultra plan 2 days ago

    • Same. And then the next day got an email saying from next month it’ll increase by 30%

  • I used Windscribe to try switching to Turkey with an expired Argentina account but it couldn't allow to use the current payment (Revolut card), no go with Wise card as well.
Go back to Argentina choosing Standard package, but got an Premium upgrade promotion for a month.
However, after accepting old card payment it required an Argentinian mobile number to verify the account. I turned off the VPN, refreshed the page to Australia, turned VPN back on to Argentina, refreshed the page again and luckily my Au mobile number appeared.
I'll try my luck with Turkey again next month.

    • -1

just to be clear turkey is now only the cheapest is you are going for the top package.

      Turkey raised their prices also

i swapped from argentina to turkey yesterday

      • I always use the premium one but had to down one tier 'cos of the increasing price of Argentina.
What VPN and cards did you use for Turkey?
I got no luck with Revolut and Wise.

        • Used nordvpn

And same credit card as before

It was already in the system. Had to let it expire first

          • @AussieMark: I did the same, I used NordVPN and then Windscribe but failed

What web browsers did you use?

            • @cryslotus: Chrome I think. But waited until the day after the Netflix ended

        • yo i just got charged like 16.50 for 4k plan in Argentina wtf it went up like 6.5 dollars, how to change to turkey??

      • @AussieMark can you tell us what you did step by step to swap?

        • +2

          Hmmm

Someone else posted already but here goes

          No vpn on
          1) add mobile number to account - confirm
          2) make sure direct debit already setup (I mean the cc details already on the account)

          Turn on vpn
          3) let account expires (ends) and then the next day I did nordvpn to Turkey
          4) click restart membership - choose plan ( all in Turkey dollars)

I didn't use any gift cards or anything.

I was changing from Argentina to turkey

          • @AussieMark: so i cant use the same netflix account that is currently setup for argentina? has to be new one?

            • @striker5950: Same account but you need to cancel first and wait for the expiry

              • @AussieMark: yeh thats the correct steps, i read it on a site. hopefully we dont have to go through the same process of phone number and credit card we can use the current (in system) credit card and phone number.

          • @AussieMark: Hey, I'm confused with "turn on vpn" before step 3. Do you mean you let your Netflix run on vpn until it expires? Or once it expires, then turn on vpn?

      • I just logged in to Netflix for the first time since about April 11th due to not having any power for close to a week and got the price increase message.

What is now the cheapest for the standard plan? If Turkey is still one of the cheapest, I'll stick with them. Not looking to squabble over a dollar or two. I think it said it's going up to $40.99.

  • With CBA CC, I see the $54.99 TL plan but when it comes to pay keep getting the message 'There appears to be a problem with the payment method you are trying to use'. How do I overcome? There seems to be no option for Gift card payments.

    • You are vpn'd to Turkey server? I was able to use windscribe and was able to redeem gift cards bought from g2a

      • yes VPN to turkey server, maybe it wont take CBA cc, I'll have to try with TransferWise perhaps I'm guessing I have to put money in it, using bank transfer as cc with result in cash advance. However before I do that, I want to check with CBA incase they put a block to on the would be transaction. Update: CBA confirmed no block on transaction I rejoined Aussie will try to catch the Turkey next month.

  • Thanks all. Worked and sharing my steps:

    1. Sign up netflix with standard plan. Added 86400 debit card details as default payment method on my account.
    2. Cancel netflix account. Somehow it has auto renewed in the new month, so contacted netflix support via live chat to cancel and get a refund.
    3. Using Keepsolid vpn, connect to Turkey server.
    4. Sign in to netflix account, confirm the plan with Turkey currency. Chose the Premium plan, confirm being charged $8.96.
    • Weird. I'm getting the below msg:

There was an error processing your payment information. Please check that all fields are filled out correctly and try again.

  • Another option that might work.
    1. Use a VPN to get a Portugal IP address and sign up for the 30 day free trial (one of the few remaining countries offering trials)
    2. Use Paypal for the payment option. This seems to avoid forcing mobile validation. Paypal is not a payment option for Turkey
    3. Disconnect from VPN, sign into Netflix and enter your Australian mobile number and verify.
    4. Enjoy trial period. Cancel just before end of trial.
    5. Use VPN to get e Turkey IP address and sign up. As mobile and payment details already verified should just work.

    • Where did you get this info? I don't see free trial on Portugal Netflix and does not say so in the help centre.

      • Wow - they must have just stopped the free trial in the last few days. Switzerland is the other one that still had a free trial a few days ago, but it's now gone as well.

    • one of the few remaining countries offering trials

      Singapore offers free trial too

Use Paypal for the payment option

.. ok but they don't take PayPal

edit: Ok it looks like Singapore doesn't offer it anymore either. So I'd assume it's been removed across the board

      • After just a few days, Netflix has cancelled my 30 day free trial. Didn't receive any communication. But I guess they saw my IP address changing from Portugal to Australia. I was only joining as my wife wanted to give it a try. It's our first ever experience of Netflix. I thought there would be more content. Was disappointed in how many movies were not available on the platform.

        • +1

Caught you doing the shifty and you got denied.

          • @xoom: Yep. Giving Stan a trial now. Seems to have a better movie collection.

  • Hi,

Tried all the ideas as above..using Tunnelbear.
Went to the page subscribed then was asked for the mobile verification.
Opened a new page but didn't work.
Now keep saying credit card details not correct. Realized its the old card but lets me change the details but doesn't work.

    1. Any work around without subscribing to change the payment details? Also are ppl being able to bypass mobile numbers still? Looks like they are tightening the loopholes..
    2. Does this work with Disney + at all? I have tried the same rules but when you goto subscribe the page becomes blank if using a VPN.
    • i don't think it's work with Disney plus
Pay full amount and share with another 3 people making price to around $25 a year

  • Finally got this to work, but was quite the pain.
Silly me had Paypal as payment method of choice for Oz netflix, which is not accepted for Turkey Netflix.
So when I let my Netflix subscription lapse and used VPN for Turkey it wouldn't accept my payment method even after I removed Paypal as a billing method and tried different cards.

    Instead:
    1. Bought turkey Netflix gift card from G2A (got code immediately)
    2. Entered it while VPN (cyber ghost 24 hour free trial) - set to Turkey -> Success

Then to get a card onto my account - no longer need the VPN from this point

    1. Message live chat - played dumb saying card wouldn't work. Eventually got a chat person to offer in-chat payment form
    2. Initial card (coles mastercard) didn't work.
    3. Asked to try again this time with Macquarie and success (In Macquarie app settings I also said I would be traveling to Turkey - don't think this part is necessary, but did it just in case).

    Hope this helps.

  • I bought gc from G2A but the code says there's an error redeeming it? I bought it this morning after everyone else here did.

    What was the sellers name?

    Is it my VPN?
Using VPN unlimited and tried all different types of connections wireguard etc.

Still can't get the code to accept.

    • +1

      What was the sellers name?

      Instant_delivery_global

I used windscribe VPN. It's free to sign up. You get 10GB a month.

      • Got it to work with windscribe.
Didnt have to remove card details so it still has my ANZ rewards on account, hopefully it will charge it at the end of GC.

Download the app from store and go through there instead of website as the free trial asks for credit card details where the app doesn't.

  • Ok UPDATE.

    TRY DIFFERENT VPN.

I used windscribe and that work instantly taking the gc code. Where I was using VPN unlimited and would get an error, even though I was connected to TURKEY server.

Finally, everyone can go back to their Netflix!

    • Hey, i just read your post above and bought from xoom's seller on G2A.

Trying to redeem the code now via Windscribe but I'm just getting a spinning circle after clicking redeeming. It's been a few minutes.

Did you (or anyone) experience this? Any help greatly appreciated. Thank you!

      • +1

Nope but it could be slow connection or try refreshing and reconnecting VPN again

        • Thank you for the reply!

Ending up refreshing but then I could no longer login using the same details while using VPN (worked fine without).

Just made a new account and it worked instantly!

What's your plan now regarding recurring payments? I read on another page someone is going to use live chat to get some secure credit card form and add their Australian card that way? Or will you get more Turkish gift cards and add more credit as you go?

          • +1

@IceCreamBandit: At the moment I am going to see if payments will be taken from my CC as I am still using my existing account. If it fails I will buy more TL giftcards and just keep adding it on the account.

I may try to speak with live chat one day but I can already sense thier reply about my card not being accepted etc, cause I have tried prior to doing the GC method.

            • @Pandaboss: Really appreciate your replies, thank you so much!

My account now shows I have enough credit until June, so I'll see whether I watch Netflix enough to justify getting more gift cards.

              Thanks again!

              • @IceCreamBandit: I'm wondering if Netflix USA is better as it gets newer content first

Australia Netflix is super slow to get the latest stuff

                • @AussieMark: Make sure you have a VPN switched to the US before you open the Netflix app.

I use windscribe which has both a Netflix and normal VPN servers. ( I have lifetime premium)

                  Works a treat.

PS, I am subscribed to Netflix Turkey. I constantly switch between multiple regions for my movie needs.

There is an unofficial Netflix movie search site that is about 90% accurate that I use to find what I am after.

                  • @COVID-19: Might try this VPN to us server to see if there's other movies in it.

                    • @xoom: They this website……

                      https://unogs.com/

This is the one that's about 90% accurate with what title is in what region.

The US isn't always the best, in my opinion.

                  • @COVID-19: Oh thanks mate that's very helpful

I always thought Netflix USA needed a seperate subscription

                    • @AussieMark: No. It's much like how when connected to VPN in Turkey. You can search Turkey specific content. So netflix USA will show USA specific content also when connected to USA VPN.

Note. Not all vpns are created equal when being used to circumvent geoblocked content.

                      • @xoom: Thanks I use Nord but do have free windscribe.

For a moment I thought you meant lifetime Netflix hahah but you meant windscribe
