OzReminder for those who may not be familiar with this hack. Thank you for the original post Ulysses31. Here are some steps to setup a Turkish or Argentinian Netflix account to save $$$. Results may vary so it's best to read up, there are plenty of comments below and members happy to help. Unfortunately, it may not work for everyone so please keep that in mind.

Netflix plans

Turkey Basic $4.66 Standard $7.07 Ultra $9.49/month (Mod 15/11/21: Prices in title updated to latest exchange rate, this will vary daily.)
Argentina Basic $4.02 Standard $6.61 Ultra $9.64/month (Note: Taxes will apply)

Step 1: Please understand that following all these steps may not work for you

There is no need for aggression in instances where you are unable to subscribe to an international Netflix account. Share your experience so everyone can chip in and help out. There are plenty of examples where hacks shared on this platform do not work for some people, but may work for others:
* Modem reset for faster internet,
* Cash back program purchase tracking,
* Price matching an unobtainable deal or price error,
* Targeted bargains, and
* Limited quantity items quickly or instant (bot) sellout.
Similarly we know there are cash back users who follow every single step for cash back (turn off ad blocker, have no items in cart, do not click other links, etc.) on their purchases and it does not work, its probably best to move on.There are many users who successfully use this hack and enjoy paying half the price of the Australian membership. Unfortunately there are also many users who have been unable to sign up to Netflix Turkey or Argentina. After all it is intended for people who reside in Turkey or Argentina. If it does not work, I am not affiliated with any of the entities listed below or linked to and cannot guarantee any outcome. I can only read comments on this platform and others to share them with you. Your patience is appreciated. Please do not take it personally.

Step 2: Obtain a Turkish or Argentinian VPN

Express VPN
PureVPN
Torguard
VyprVPN
Windscribe

Step 3: Confirm Turkish/Argentinian IP

IP Check

Step 4: Sign Up to Netflix

In a private-browsing tab open Netflix

Step 5: Enter Card Details

Possibly working: 28 Degrees, ANZ Rewards, Citibank Debit, Macquarie
Mixed reports: CBA, ING

FAQs

Q My bank blocked my payment, what do I do?
A Some banks block 1st attempt and then text to confirm it's you. Once you reply, 2nd attempt may work.

Q Where can I purchase a Turkish Netflix gift card?
A Others have had success purchasing Turkish Netflix gift cards (for a premium) or using Transfer Wise.

Q I have an existing Netflix subscription, can I use the same email?
A You can try! Visit Netflix website and cancel your subscription ASAP. It will expire at the end of the billing period. Then follow Step 1-5.

Q I thought it would cost $4.66 but I was billed for $5.00.
A Please note that changes in the foreign exchange rate will impact the subscription fee. Happy to update.

Q How do I enter an international mobile number?
A Ignore any requests for a mobile, open Netflix in a new tab and confirm account is working. If you must, there are a couple of resources for codes being sent to an international mobile number. Please note that these services may not work since others may have used the numbers for verification codes from Netflix SMS Codes PVA Codes SMS-Activate SMS Approval.

Q Do I need to use a VPN every time I access Netflix?
A No, VPN is only required for sign up. After sign up, use Netflix without a VPN and you will have access to the Australian Netflix library.

Or the crypto.com card that pays your Netflix for you 😝

    • Are there any drawbacks for this cards , was planning to get one but reluctant given it’s free and freebies like Netflix

      • You need to keep funds in the account, which can go up or down?
        I think, something like that.

      • +2

looks like you need to stake 4k USD for 6 months https://crypto.com/cards

        • +10

I was lucky enough to get the card when it was $2kAUD. I have Netflix and Spotify 100% paid, 3% cashback and a free LoungeKey membership with unlimited redemptions. Best card I ever had haha

          • @alphonts: nice :)

          • @alphonts: is that 100% back as long as you stake (4k for Royal Indigo & Jade Green card)?

            oh nevermind - answered below!

        • What does stake mean? Deposit for 6 months, then you can cash out?

          • -1

            @atlas: Pretty much

          • +2

@atlas: Nah you lose Netflix, Spotify and the 3% if you unstake.

            • @ChillBro: If you unstake you loose the free Spotify and Netflix but you keep the longe access for life. You also still get cashback but it drops down to 1%

              • @alphonts: Worth mentioning that you also get ongoing 10% return on your staked funds as well as the card benefits.

                • @sav11: Only on the $5k stake and above, you don't get 10% stake rewards on a Ruby

        • +4

          Can this go Mt Gox?

          • +1

@boretentsu: Looking at what they are offering.. it is clear that they are incurring more costs than revenue generated from their cards. Which leads you to two possibilities, they are running this intentionally at a loss to gain market share and are funding from another part of their business (and will inevitably turn off free stuff) or something funny is afoot.

            • +1

@garygaz: They are most certainly not running at a loss, they're profitable.

              • @bonezAU: i'm talking specifically about the card division, not the whole company

      • Was considering getting one too (Ruby stake is only $500 SG dollars).
What's the main point, to be independent from the big banks regulations?
For the sake of $10/month don't really care about free Netflix (and have a few spare HD spots i should swap for another service).

        • FYI the Ruby card doesn't have netflix included, only Spotify. Only the indigo/jade ($5k) cards and above have netflix.

          Cons:
          - there's a scam going around affecting mainly Canadians and Australians where users are getting lots of unauthorised $5 google play charges to their card. Not only have Crypto.com been unable to find the source of the scam/leak, but customers won't even be reimbursed
          - every time a popular coin gets added, the site/app goes to shit with everyone trying to buy/sell. This has happened since dogecoin and probably even further back

          Pros:
          - you get cashback on purchases in the form of CRO
          - all cards except the beginner blue one is metal
          - spotify/netflix/lounge access

          • @ChillBro: Cheers, I'm aware of the different card tiers as I've checked out the page (and signed up with a mate's referral).
Im not really worried about staking heaps of their coin just to get Netflix or an airbnb discount (got NF brazil which is cheap enough), but $500 or the equivalent CRO would be fine. Don't even know what lounge is but will look into it. Good to know mate, plenty of scams around right.

    • +1

It worked for me. Now does anyone have a voucher for an Argentinian language learning app?

      • +1

        Rofl

    • is the card available in Australia?

      • It has a Singapore dollar base currency so I recommend topping up with ING or something that has no international transaction fees

        • could i transfer my coins onto it? and use it directly from the card?
i was waiting for binance card, but……….

          • @balloontree: Yes! There’s only certain coins you can do this for but can definitely be done!

        • Between now and the end of this year they are launching AU cards. Anyone who currently has a Singapore card will get changed over to AU, meaning you'll be able to add funds to it via PayID and not have to exchange SGD/AUD all the time.

          • @bonezAU: I launch the app and it says it's not available to Australia?

            • @balloontree: That doesn't sound right, because it is available here. This is the crypto.com app right?

              • @bonezAU: yes, let me try re-installing

                • @balloontree: If you get stuck, feel free to send me a pm.

                  • @bonezAU: it's working now! whats the native currency being used? because i'm in a selection where they ask to choose base currency.

does it give a better rate from BTC -> USD, and how's the USD -> AUD?
or just direct BTC -> AUD?

does it mean i need to hold cro for 6 months before i can get a card?

                    • @balloontree: The display currency doesn't really matter that much, but if you're buying crypto with a debit card set it to AUD and that way they'll bill you in AUD. If you set it to USD they'll bill your card in USD.

The exchange rates are the same either way.

You don't need to stake CRO for 6 months before you receive the card, usually you get the card within a few weeks of staking however they're right in the process of issuing Aussie cards. Currently they come from Singapore with SGD as the base currency, but they seem to have paused issuing from there because sometime between now and the end of the year the cards will be shipped from here and have base currency of AUD.

There's no harm in staking right now but just be aware you won't get the card in a hurry, it could be a month or 3. They have stated that local cards are still on track before the end of this year though.

I've had a card since April 2020 and use it for my daily spend. If you've got Telegram feel free to join the AU/NZ Community.

I don't want to hijack this thread too much so you're welcome to send me a pm if you have any more questions, or ask me on Telegram.

Just and fyi. In my particular case i was sharing my Netflix account with a relative who lives overseas. When i switched to turkey, i was still able to log in to Netflix (in Australia), while my relative would get an error message. I had to then switch to Brazilian Netflix and that's solved the issue

    • They are asking to confirm phone number

    • Which country? I know Turkey Netflix doesn't work in Malaysia, but works fine in Singapore and Australia.

      • Damn if only I read this before starting the setup. So does Argentina one work in Malaysia? Or is the Brazilian one similar priced?

        • +2

Brazil is the next cheapest afaik. Argentina is cheap, but in my case i kept being charged their 65% tax which made it more expensive than Brazil

          • @pichxlonco: Nice. I'll let my people in Malaysia give Brazil account a try.

            • @sh4hp: Pakistan is the next cheapest after Turkey, and works in Malaysia. However, your challenge is probably going to be finding a Pakistan VPN lol

              • @illumination: Forgot about pakistan. Yes, my issue was finding a vpn that had a pakistan node, and the ones i did find showed up as connected from somewhere else

              • @illumination: Express vpn has node for Pak

                • +1

@martians: So I just tried ExpressVPN, Hotspot Shield, and Cyberghost VPN, all of which claim to have a Pakistan server. Upon checking on ipleak.net, it does indeed show a Pakistan IP, but when loading Netflix, it automatically redirects to Netflix Singapore…!

          • @pichxlonco: ahhh that is the issue. It used to be $10 ish but went up to $15i sh and I never knew why

      • just curious, why wouldn't it work in Malaysia? Isn't it just a matter of vpn? Thank you :D

        • +1

I don't know why it doesn't work in Malaysia. I just know it doesn't, lol. I'm in Malaysia, and I tried it on about four different devices in three different homes and it doesn't work, but it works perfectly fine in Singapore and Australia. I forgot what the error message is - it's something like "this is not available in your country".

But yea sure, if you use a VPN and make Netflix think you're in Turkey/Singapore/Australia, then yep it should work fine.

  • +3

    Argentina Tax is 65%.

My ANZ travel adventure credit card, Amex, ANZ debit card, CBA debit card, ING debit card and overseas credit cannot work in Turkey store, I can only buy gift card in other platform for payment.

    • Same

    • I use my Up debit card with Turkey. Only use that card for Netflix Turkey and YouTube Premium Argentina.

      • same boat!

      • Can’t seem to get up working with turkey act..

  • +5

None of the Australian Issued cards work. Best option is to buy Turkish Gift Card.

    • +10

Im using my aus card for the past 2+ years.

      • +3

        New signups don't work

        • I had troubles at the time i did it and was just updating payment method on existing account with full aus details, i kept persisting with different IP ranges with VPNs, browsers etc and got it to work after a little stuffing about.

      • I've been using mine for about 7 - 8 months too.

    • CUA debit working fine for me

    • My Australian card works fine but I had to get onto Netflix chat and ask them to update the credit card on file which they did easily enough.

I was originally buying Netflix Turkey gift cards for 2 months until I got on the chat and had them fix it up for me.

    • +4

Or use Wise and get a digital card and pay in Turkish Lira.

      • How do you get a digital card? The option I have is for a $10 physical card.

        Or is it the same?

        • +2

Order a physical card and there will be an option from the App where you can create 1 or more Digital cards.

          • @johnyBgood: Thanks

            • @sh4hp: Please let us know it works for you. Thank you

              • @sicaboy: It worked for me to get a Brazilian account. Works out ~$5 cheaper than local UHD?

Didn't try Turkey as I am sharing with someone in Malaysia as well. Someone commented Malaysia don't allow the Turkish one.

          • @johnyBgood: I got a dig card but it fails to process the payment. Do you have to load funds from the account to the dig card?

            • +1

@flapmyarse: Yes you have to deposit Turkish lira, will only take a few minutes to transfer. It will initially shows as declined or cancelled when it does pre-authorization, but billing time they will start charging your digital card, just make sure you have enough funds. Here's a screenshot on mine. https://ibb.co/DfYjPvV

              • @johnyBgood: Thank you !

              • +1

@johnyBgood: Is there anything else I need to do? I’m using Wise and have a digital card with Lira but when I add it to Netflix (connected via NordVPN) I get an error message “There appears to be a problem with the payment method you are trying to use.”

                • @teajay74: I just checked the card added in my Netflix and it's actually the physical card and not the digital card no. I also don't remember connecting to VPN when I added it.

    • Tried my CC also not working.
Does it mean I have to use Turkish gift card forever to continue watching?
Tried the online chat but there's no form to fill. Help.

      • What did the rep say to you? Maybe try a new chat until the rep gives you a form to fill.

        • They just say my card doesn't work and need to try another card. Very generic response.
I did ask for a form, and was told there are no forms, my credit card simply doesn't "work".

I just give up. Totally wasting time and money.

Money wasted: AU$15 for Turkish gist card, $5 for SMSCodes.IO deposit (Only after putting deposit they revealed that no Turkish numbers available), US$1 for PVACodes which told me that "All numbers are not eligible to receive sms for all services".

Time wasted: Around 2 hours trying to get this work.

          • @f38r1: When I was on the chat I did not mention about the form, they just gave me a form to fill in when I told them I had troubles adding a card on my account. It really depends on who you are chatting with it seems.

You could try subscribing to AU Netflix for a month then cancel it and try the methods that others on this thread had success with. Just remember to have your mobile and credit card added to your AU account before changing to Turkey.

  • +1

Last time when I attempted, it was a bit of hassle, so purchased a Netflix gift card in Turkey currency which worked for a couple of months and then I contacted Netflix, they provided with a form of payment method change and that was it.

    • can you please elaborate?

    • Did you just do this by speaking them through chat? Do you just say that you can't update your details and they send you a link to provide your card details?

    • Yes, the guy asked some questions regarding my geo location etc. which I answered honestly and explained my situation that I was unable to update my payment method (for obvious reasons) but they somehow can push it through their backed. so he provided me with this form while he stood on the line and once I submitted and he received straight away and I'm Netflixing happily ever after.

      • +1

Interesting. I had the same issue a few years ago and they couldn't do anything for me

        • Have to keep trying. I went through 10 different reps before one would give me the form to fill in. All good after that.

      • Can confirm, the CC I was using expired and got the payment method changed talking through chat and filling out the form.

Edit: This was about 4-5 months ago, no issues with using the new card

      • Is it possible for you to share the link of the payment form that netflix support have given you?

Just wondering if it is generic or user specific. If it is generic then we might be able to use it as well.

    • Yep this is what I did too. Worked a charm.

  • +2

    Long live Turkish netflix 🇹🇷

  • +1

I am using it right now via Turkish Netflix GC however, I have numerous attempt to add 2 different CC and unsuccessful. Even tried to contact CS via live chat and use their form to add CC, unfortunately they told me insufficient funds (definitely not the case). I am running out of options. Will just cancel when my GC runs out of funds.

    • insufficient funds in CC, that's messed up mate!

      • I checked my accounts and no issue and still have funds, at least for Netflix lol

    • +2

I just added my Revolut card with AUD balance to the Netflix Turkey account. Worked flawlessly.

      • +1

I won’t work with my Revolut account :(.

        • Do you have any money in the Revolut account? And did you put the physical card details in netflix? It would charge and revert back 16 cent into the account when you put your Revolut card number

          • @avid000: Yes I always have money on it.
I m using Netflix Brazil with the revolut card about 1 year. I let the brazil Netflix expired , change vpn to Turkey , use Revolut card again, even i tried my cba cards. It still won’t work. Now i m back to Brazil Netflix it is used to around 10-11$ now they charge 14$.

  • +3

i still reckon torrent works out cheaper but +1 for the effort

    • +1

This is for people who either don't have the know how, or prefer the convenience of Netflix. I can torrent all day long, but Netflix is easier for me and the other people who share it with me.

      • -3

        …or are not thieves.

        • …or are not thieves.

I just stole your intellectual property and reproduced it without permission. Does this affect you?

    • +1

I know stream boxes and random kodi streams exist, but it's still nice to be able to scroll through a mountain of content and watch what you want immediately.

In the future when we're all on 1000 megabit connections then perhaps the high seas will be more viable for small hits of seratonin.

      • +2

For that, I use popcorn time. Best of both worlds!

      • Real-Debrid + CinemaHD and Cyberflix.

I still pay for Netflix Turkey and Prime Video.

        • +1

Yup. RD is a game changer. Stopped using Netflix but still have Prime.

    • Agreed! I have NF, ATVP, AMZN and DSNP readily available to stream but I still t0rr3nt like crazy. Often times its content I've already streamed but it's mostly TV shows as they air.

I just keep it all on an external HD for posterity. The files come in handy when travelling internationally because I've already seen pretty much every new release movie they have available on the plane, so I simply dump some content onto my MacBook and watch my own stuff. 😆

    • -1

People that pay for Netflix aren't stealing content as you seem to prefer.
