  • I'd probably wait for the Junior Dos Santos one! ;)

    • Lets just hope there's heaps, should get rid of Lesnar and just keep Overeem considering the torch has been passed.

Yeah, but only the steroid-filled meatbag torch got passed. :p

Lesnar retired after the loss, rightly so coz he never had any business being in the octagon.

The real fighters like Velasquez, Carwin, Dos Santos etc get my props!

Overeem is a beast! In saying that, my money is still on Dos Santos..

      • Yep, Bob Sapp was a beast in Pride & K1 too…as soon as they put him in with anyone who could actually fight, regardless of size the results were comical! cough_Crocop_cough! ;)

But if you want a real laugh, google Bob Sapp vs Kimo…don't eat or drink anything whilst you watch it though…it's that funny! :)

          Sorry, StewBalls, i completely disagree.

Bob Sapp TKOed Ernesto Hoost twice in K1, and gave Nogueira (arguably the best MMA heavyweight at the time) a hell of a fight (the slam and punches from within Nog's guard were absolutely brutal).

Lesnar beat Herring, Mir (TKO), Couture (TKO) and Carwin (submission)i.e. he most certainly had business being in the octagon.

        • You've got to be joking. Comparing Bobb Sapp to Overeem.

        • We're gonna have to agree to disagree on that one Citrus. IMHO Sapp is a puddin'! ;)

He is only formidable because of his sheer size, that was the only way he beat Hoost by basically laying all over him. Same deal with Minotauro, there's no way he would have stood a chance of lasting with his mediocre skills without his size alone! Take away the bulk from the 'roids & he's got nothing.

I'll agree to some extent that I've been somewhat harsh on Lesnar, he does get some credit coz he at least demonstrated a serious work ethic & developed some skills once he decided to give UFC a go. In fairness, he also showed some serious ticker for hanging in whilst copping a right pounding from Velasquez; not to mention coming back from diverticulitis. However, you can't seriously expect anyone to believe that it was his skills that allowed him to best Randy to get the title, that was sheer size again, steroid-fuelled size at that.

I'll give you the Carwin sub though, the aforementioned work ethic had at least allowed him to pick up some grappling skills by this time. Yep, he also beat Mir but in fairness that was before Frank really picked up his grappling game, as recently showcased against big Nog! ;)

P.S. I think Heath Herring was on his way to pick up his pension cheque when Brock beat him, so that doesn't really count! :p
