  • Since when did vodafone use a per mb calculation in their prepaid internet?

    • It depends what plan you're talking as to how they charge. PAYG they only charge (supposedly) in kb increments, although there's a minimum of 250kb per session. Their prepaid wifi plans are charged in 1mb increments.

It can still be gotten from Vodafone online using the code OZBARGAIN for around $35.50.
I tried the ozbargain code again just a couple of days ago, and it was still working fine then. This might be the better option if buying to use on another network. This one only comes with 3gb data though, which has a 30 day expiry.

For 6gb data with 90 days expiry on that, I think this Aust Post one is probably the better buy for those who don't mind Voda, and the benefit is that you have it there and then, and don't have to wait for Voda to post (although they're fairly fast with this.)

Vodafone's own blurb states that Wifi2 modem isn't suitable [on their network] in many regional areas. Once unlocked it works fine on Telstra's nextG and we've had fairly reasonable coverage with woolies mobile in it.

Also, depends on your luck, sometimes the unlock code is free for some of the Wifi2 modems they posted to you. Just go to the Vodafone Website and enter the IMEI.

I guess if you go to a AustPost shop and let you check the pocket wifi IMEI and try to see if the unlock code is available, you could cherry pick one that has unlock code for free.

      • It really is a matter of luck though, so don't count on it. If it happens, consider it a bonus.

    • Sorry, the code that you entered has not been applied. Please check the code, its expiry date or the caps lock feature on your keyboard.

It seems the code has expired..

Nope, it's still working. Make sure you're selecting the $71 option which includes 3gb data. Once you've applied the discount code it comes back to $35.50.

      • Also make sure you didn't copy the space after the coupon code. "OZBARGAIN " didn't work, but "OZBARGAIN" does. :)

  • I've used this in metro Sydney & it worked really well - better than tethering my iPhone (also on voda), also have a friend who just uses this as their home Internet & is happy with it.

  • can you use optus network sims in this?

    • can you use optus network sims in this?

Yes, but you'll need to unlock it first and change the APN settings

  • "If you are under 18 you should obtain the consent of a parent or responsible adult prior to using the Internet".

"Dad, can I use the Internet tonight to search for porn?" "Fine by me, but ask your mother".

      • Why not? Woolies works in my 3G tablet. 5GB for 45days $12.60.
