Jbhifi has a great special on a samsung 3d bluray player with 500gb hdd storage.
Previous cheapest price was $440. Myer has it $100 off in its sale and it's over $400 but jbhifi has it for $296!!!Myer wouldn't match it saying it's below cost, would only go as low as $375. Rang jb and asked for 2, got them after ringing them and them saying it was a 1 day special for boxing day but i told them it was on their site til 30th and they were amazed at the price.
If you have a collection of non-R4 DVDs, the PS3 won't play them as it's region locked to R4. So if you don't have any non-R4 DVDs, or are happy to use a separate DVD player with the PS3 AND you want to play games, then go with the PS3.
Otherwise a decent 3D compatible Blu-ray player, eg Sony S480, is $143 delivered. Sony's blu-ray players come DVD region-free out of the box.

I had the opposite problem. I picked one up on boxing day with them saying the sale wasn't meant to begin until the 27th. They blamed head office jumping the gun on the sale start date. Anyway i still got it for that price.
We had no luck at Myer Carousel WA pricematch. Got the last one at Carousel JB.

Only saw it in action for a little while after I set it up but the user interface was excellent and the feature set is fantastic for the price.
this player is awesome, has everything, internet, 2d- 3d movie conversion, great menu setup, usb and heaps more so its def worth it.
p.s if your like me and you just connect your new stuff without reading manual there is no disc tray! I was lookin for it for ages lol but you have to push disc into it

i have a 3d tv, so do i need a 3d player to play 3d? or will a ps3 play 3d?
for $300 bucks, i can get either this or a ps3, but the ps3 lets me play games….
