existing customers pay $89/mo for 6 mo

From your link. So looks like new customers only.

    • Can you post a screenshot?

I tried a FTTN address and the code applied.

Kotaku link under "View plan details", not the ABB link

Lets Be Mates have this same plan for $79 PM for ever

typical busy period download speed 83 mbps

      rofl

      • +7

Yeah what's 17 mbps between mates

      • That's still 10MBps though, which is great if it is consistent. Or is that a "mates" claim?

        • I regularly get between 85-92 mbps with Mate NBN for the past 7 months. Usually this is between 8PM-12AM when
i'm using it the most. I don't notice the difference at all whether i'm at 80 mbps or 90 mbps.

      • $69/M if you bundle a Mobile plan of $20 or more. Which is what i'm currently on. Rare for the speed to drop below 85 in my area.

      Forever ever, forever ever?

      • +4

Forever never seems that long until you're grown!

  • +4

Hate how /20 is becoming the norm? wtf..
I mean whenever there is congestion, it's never on the upload side anyway. Upload is always full speed. I'm not sure why they want to restrict it.

    • +1

Some say that NBN made the 100/20 AVC due to the lack of upload bandwidth on HFC. ISPs that have 100/40 are Aussie BB, Swoop, Superloop and Launtel.

      • ISPs that have 100/40 are Aussie BB, Swoop, Superloop and Launtel.

        Telstra too.

        • +3

New Telstra customers get 100/20. I believe customers that signup a year or more ago are on 100/40.

      • Aussie cut down to 20 as their default last year and you have to pony up more for 40

      • +1

        Geez what's that neg for?

HFC upload turns to crap when everyone uses it at once.

    • +1

Pretty sure its just to stop small medium businesses from using standard residential NBN for business.

Still annoying for customers who just want 100/100 which is more expensive then 1000/50…

  • +3

New customer = 6+ months away from ABB?

    • +3

      Yeah minimum of 6 months.

  • Have all providers recently cut the upload bandwidth for 100mbps plans to 50mbps? All I see is 100/20 now (I was sure I was still getting 45mbps up on my old tpg100 plan)

    • +1

This is now what NBN supplies, the /20 plan is a cheaper wholesale cost.

    • +1

The upload has never been 50Mbps on the 100Mbps download plan. It has always been 20Mbps or 40Mbps upload. ISPs that have 100/40 are Aussie BB, Swoop, Superloop and Launtel.

      • iinet too

        • Do you have to request it?

The nbn100 plan on the iinet signup page is 100/20.

          • +1

@Twix: I choose 100/40 plan when I first sign up with them around 7 years ago.

  • I'm always tempted to upgrade to a 250Mbps plan, but then I'm still paying $55 for a 50Mbps plan and it's hard to beat that value.

  • Can the referral $50 be stacked with this plan?

    Mod: referral solicitation removed

    • No stacking.

        Darn.. Thanks

not a deal imo.. I'm with Dodo, on HFC 100/20 and I pay $75 a month for unlimited downloads - because I also have gas and electrictiy with them, otherwise is $85 a month (sure it's gone up, positive it was $80 a while ago).

    • +2

not a deal imo.. I'm with Dodo

Well, unfortunately Dodo is even worse than Lets Be Mates re: performance

      82Mbps average sampled evening speed1

With Aussie, you're getting 99 Mbps.

  • code didnt work for me and then i realised ive only been away from ABB for 5 months not 6 :(. im hoping they offer a code next month as my superloop discount is about to end and they dont refund even if you are with them for only 1 day of the month

  • I got charged full price. Never been a customer before.

    • The discount should be there if you applied the code. Speak to someone else.

    • Did you get it sorted?

      • +1

Yes but I had to call them.

  • Hi Guys,
Did anyone got the deal honoured by Aussie Broadband.
I am on phone with them and they are just saying no promo code applied on the account and can not add the same deal.
