    • So around $500 for a good 4tb sata ssd

    • +3

Ie $482 at mwave for the 860

BUT if anyone is actually buying this be aware it's $449 for the 4tb 870 at scorptec

After cashback. Haven't looked into which type of memory nor speeds.

    T&C
For the avoidance of doubt, online bidding and auction websites (e.g. www.ebay.com.au) are not Participating Stores for the purposes of the Promotion.

    • +1

For most Ozbargainers it isn't an issue, we are mostly buying SSD's from the merchants ebay stores but they usually send you a proper tax invoice which you can use to claim the cashback. Just need to make sure then ABN and store's name matches with the terms and conditions.

  • +2

expect a few stores jacing up price

    • Watch the space.

      • +3

I have been watching all day and it is still white with black text

    • -1

Why? My understanding is it makes no difference to the retailer.

      • +6

Most probably because there's an opportunity to make more $.
Just like builders jacking up prices with all the grants from the government.

      • +2

It makes a difference to their profits…

        • It does if they sell them for a higher price

      • As demand goes up, prices go up.

  • Any recommendations on a good priced M2?

    • +2

      samsung

  • +2

oh damn, I just bought a Samsung Evo Plus 1tb NVME last week from Mwave. At the time they stated that their price discount ($190) would be going for some time but I can see now that have jacked the price up to $215.

    • +2

your cashback from Samsung has been passed on to mwave.

  • +2

Last time Samsung had a promo, i bought 4 drives had problems with 2 trying to complete the cashback form, this has also happened on prior products, only when a complaint on Facebook did they rectify there problem, which took about a week.
Also be prepared for a 60 day delay receiving the cashback.

    • Looks like you can cook the books/invoice to the date you want as Samsung does not check

      • +1

Really? I'm tempted. Missed out by a few days.

        • What’s the worse they can do? Not give you money? Oh well

    • ^I found this also. It was painful and took much back-and-forth for me to fix, almost not worth it for me

    • +1

I didnt get my cashback either and it was a major pita to use their site (website and account making errors)

      • +1

I did eventually get my cashback but yes, its a real PITA with following up, serial numbers not being recognised on the website and Samsung rarely replying to emails chasing up. Not worth it for say the claims up to ~ $20..you waste so much time, I won't be doing one of these again.

  • After a 1TB SATA III 2.5" SSD but confused on which model to buy given the small price difference. Seeking recommendations :)

    • +3

Go for 860 evo or 870 evo, both good. I don't recommend qvo, and after cash back, qvo is not cheaper than evo anyway.

      • Thanks mate :)

      • Nah you go for the newer 870 Evo now

  • -1

Now to wait for some good eBay coupon codes…

    • -1

Can probably try the AfterPay code? But whether or not the merchants would honor cashback redemption is another story

    • -2

For the avoidance of doubt, online bidding and auction websites (e.g. www.ebay.com.au) are not Participating Stores for the purposes of the Promotion.

      • +5

If you buy from one of the listed merchants and their eBay store, it still counts as they'll issue you their own invoice which is eligible. eg computer alliance will issue you an invoice under computer alliance which you can use to claim.

(I personally have done this multiple times with Samsung redemptions, and you can see numerous previous deals which did the same strategy)

        • +1

amazon computer alliance still at $199 for 1tb m.2 with free shipping for prime members

  • +1

    https://www.centrecom.com.au/samsung-860-evo-500gb-25-sata-i…

    $68(free shipping) after cashback..

    about to pull the trigger

    • I tried to post this as a deal but they have been blocked for sockpuppeting… should I delete my comment??

  • +51

I know an OZBer posted a list, but Samsung's model numbers aren't very intuitive. Here is the cashback amount in a table:

    Date 870 EVO 860 EVO 870 QVO 860 EVO m2 860 Pro 970 Evo Plus 970 Pro 980 Pro
    250GB $4 $10 $4 $10 $6 $9
    500GB $7 $17 $7 $18 $9 $17 $14
    1TB $25 $32 $16 $25 $32 $17 $22
    2TB $36 $123 $26 $36 $53 $33 $32 $44
    4TB $71 $246 $60 $107
    8TB $118
    • +3

Props to you on markdown table effort

    • 980 Pro 1TB is $265 from budget PC, making it $243.

    • +3

Looks like mod fixed the typos (it's not Date and $32 cashback on 970 Pro should be on 1TB, not 2TB) and added the table to the post.
      Thanks mod (scrimshaw) 👍.

Please use the revised table in the post.

  • +6

Beware, Samsung screwed me last time.

My serial number was missing from their serial database, which seems to be common from googling.

I emailed them asking them to fix it, they took ages to fix it and then eventually fixed it.

The problem is I took a few days to have the time to redeem the promotion and by that time the promotion had closed.

I emailed them asking them to make an exception as there was basically no time to redeem it and they refused saying I did have some time to redeem it. I argued back and forth a few emails and then gave up.

    • +2

I hear you, there was a problem with my application, so when I tried again I was told the serial number had already been used, so effectively Samsung screwed me out of my redemption. Never again!!! Will just buy in the future when a good price comes up on Ozbargain , forget the cashbacks.

    • +1

I found the process to be very painful and had spoken with so many individuals through FB and Samsung's website for a similar issue where the SN was too new… eventually they updated the back end and the application went through. Just need to be persistent but it's a lot of effort for honestly not a huge dollar amount…. but without that cashback, the whole deal gets called into question.

    • +1

      Sorry to hear that.

Cashback being honoured is a good bonus when it works, but unfortunately you can't seem to rely on it being paid out.

Put ASUS in the same basket from my experience.

It's great marketing strategy as they can make the product more price attractive and rely on many customers not bothering to redeem. But the time and effort to pursue a dishonoured claim either with the manufacturer or some kind of fair trading dept is rarely worth it.

      • +1

        Same for MSI.

I mean I've always managed to get whatever was promised… but some processes have more friction than others.

  • -1

    Thank you OP.

980 Pro 2TB available from BudgetPC for $539 with free shipping.

    https://www.bpctech.com.au/mz-v8p2t0bw-samsung-980-pro-2tb-m…

Cashback of $44 on this model which brings it down to $495.

    I pulled the trigger.

    • +4

      I pulled the trigger.

      RIP whoever got shot

      • His bank account

    • and ~ 20 minutes later it's back up to $549

      • Still showing as $539 for me. Sill not a bad deal at $549 though.

      • It was fluctuating when I checked.
The search results said $539, then clicked through and it was $549.
Went back to the search results and $539 again, and was able to add to cart at that price.

  • Ive got a Asrock B250M Pro 4, and looking for a good drive to put in it either 500GB o 1TB, any suggestions and how many can i put in?

    I was told M.2 NVME

    • Looks like either 2x NVMe drives, or 1x NVMe + 1x mSATA if I'm reading the ASRock site correctly.

  • Great timing, was about to order (had it in my cart on Friday) a 1TB 860 evo for a client upgrade, check back and find this, so makes it even cheaper which is much better than an AC Valhala code…

$149 for the drive plus extra $34 back, cant argue with that!

  • Hey guys, which EVO 1tb 2.5 ssd would you recommend to upgarde a PS4 slim version.

    Thanks in advance.

    • Not worth it IMO. Get a cheaper SSD for the PS4

      • Thanks mate, what would you recommend ? And can I got 1tb ?

  • +1

Has anyone try Ebay afterpay + Cashrewards 5% Choice Giftcards + Samsung cashback - worth looking into. Ebay seller like Computer Alliance normally issue store invoices with deliveries…….

  • I have been thinking of pulling the trigger on an 8TB QVO, the price was 899 at a few places like mwave. Today the price is 999. Awesome.

    • When was that? Been checking in on it every couple of days in recent weeks and never saw it at 899.

      • Within the last week

  • +1

Ebay Afterpay 10% Discount + 10% Off eBay Gift Card + Samsung Cashback = Almost the best SSD deal this year…..

  • A stupid question. What if I purchased more than one SSD in one invoice? I mean if I purchased 5 SSD 860 evo, will Samsung give me 5*cashback or just one cashback only?

    • +2

      According to the T&C: https://images.samsung.com/is/content/samsung/assets/au/offe…

Each Eligible Claimant is entitled to Purchase up to three (3) Participating Products (and is therefore entitled to receive up to three (3) Cash Backs). The maximum Eligible Claim however per Participating Product purchased is one (1).

Thus, in your example, only 1 cashback for one 860 Evo. But you could buy 2 other eligible products. Or, unofficially, you could ….. (um, sorry, I don't encourage dodgy stuff and if Samsung found out….).

  • So is computer alliance ebay get cashback?

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1TB-Samsung-2-5-860-EVO-SATA-6Gb…

    • According to the listing, you should (so you will get a proper tax invoice from CA).

    • +1

dont forget to use afterpay https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/605421

      • Arg, can't use afterpay and ebay plus voucher at the same time

    • How much do you get back from this?

    • I dunno I bought something from CA in dec and didn’t get any separate invoice. Maybe they will for this promotion otherwise it’s poor form mentioning the cash back in the listing …

  • Will I miss out if I bought it late yesterday at 11pm? Was I an hour off getting cash back? Should I cancel it before the payment clears?

  • shallothead on ebay (what's with that name??) also included in cashback and have the Afterpay discount. They are "K.S. COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY".

  • i have always been curious to why people run SSD SATA, when m2 are almost the same if not cheaper?

I am looking into it because i only have one m2 slot

    any other reason?

    • older motherboard doesn't support m2

      • thanks man!

    • +3

      Reasons:

      • Modern motherboards have 4 or more SATA ports (often 6 or more).
      • SATA SSDs dissipate heat better than m.2 SSDs (larger board surface area).
      • For Samsung SSDs, you are paying a premium for their NVMe range. Most people cannot take full advantage of NVMe on a consistent basis.
      • For gaming, so far, there is no real advantage of using NVMe (this could change as next gen consoles become more popular).
      • To really get the NVMe speed consistently, you need at least 2 NVMe SSDs (and if one is external, you really need Thunderbolt 3/USB 4 and an enclosure for one of those is expensive). Even if you have 2 m.2/NVMe slots, the chipset slot is slower than the m.2 slot communicating directly with the CPU.
      • Do you go for PCIe gen 4 SSDs now?
      • thanks man!! yeah i am looking for a 1TB SSD sata now, not sure which one be good, i missed the mwave one for $73

    • Can't get an NVMe drive with 4TB.

  • On last promo I have two claims but received 4 x $29 😆

  • Reduced cashbacks compared to previous deals. eg 500gb 970 plus cash back was $22 on 17/72020 now $9;) I'm sure Covid will be blamed

  • think i dont need the 2tb but the 2tb SSD 860 PRO is so tempting ……. almost pulled the trigger

  • Best deal I reckon is the 4TB 860 EVO. $699 with $246 cashback puts it into QVO price territory

  • I'm collecting SSDs like Eneloops. My PC has

    2x 1TB 970 Evo
    1x 2TB 970 Evo Plus
    1x 4TB 860 Evo
    1x 4TB 879 Evo

    • +1

      1x 4TB 879 Evo

      879 Evo?

  • Has anyone bought from computer alliance via amazon?

Do they send you a CA invoice?

  • Does anyone know if scorptec eBay send you a proper separate invoice?

    • Ending up going budget pc eBay, no email for a separate invoice but came with a physical invoice in case anyone is curious. Good enough…

  • +1

Bought a 980 Pro last week as a gift to bf (coulda saved $22 with the cashback dammit) only to realise the next morning his mobo only has PCIe Gen 3.0.
Oh well, future proofing I guess? Next gift can be a new motherboard which will run this at full capacity haha?

    • I'm assuming you're a girl and therefore am SUPER CHUFFED that you know so much about this! There are half a dozen key words in your comment that my missus has NO idea about. :D

  • Damn Recently purchased a Samsung EVO 860 1tb SSD from Scorptec on 13th Feb. Could have got $32 cashback If I had known about this and wated.

  • What's the LOWEST price that anyone can find on the 2tb samsung 860 evo? My link is on Amazon for $326

    • i reckon on ebay CA, it's 449 with 10% off, so comes to $404, minus $123 cash back, so $281 for a 2tb 860 evo
let me know if you've found a better deal
