It’s still cheaper than many retailers. I dont see any harm for them to advertise lower than market price

    • +3

if its cheaper than everyone else, we wanna know about it.

    • +1

To be fair this is a fantastic advertising platform. Not sure how many ali-x-press USB-C chargers the world needs for a reasonable price but clearly it is many.

      • +1

Yep unlike a lot of crap on here, there’s a large number of people actively looking to purchase a 5600x.

  • +10

The 5600X is a bit steep over msrp, but the 3600 is definitely a good price in the current market.

Extremely close to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/585760 and better than https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/599532, albeit the month difference in stock levels for better or for worse

    • +20

5600x is way overpriced don't get us wrong, seems to be the standard pricing among Aussie retailers tho. Our margins are lower than 20$ even with that pricing.

      • +4

What happened to the MSRP price of $469?

        • +46

That is indeed how subtraction works.

        • +47

We are paying just over $510 for these CPUs including GST. I'd say most CPUs and GPUs will be costing up well over RRP for a few months still to come.

          • @Titan Tech: Thanks for the honesty. Guess my Ryzen 1st gen rig isn't getting an upgrade till maybe 2nd half of 2021 then.

          • @Titan Tech: Appreciate this

          • +9

@Titan Tech: Damn. Consumers should be pointing the blame at AMD and distributors not retailers.

            • +8

@Caped Baldy: Yeah it's funny seeing people blame the retailers as if all retailers all around the world are conspiring together to push the price up.

          • @Titan Tech: Why are you paying so much for these CPUs? If wholesale price is higher than RRP, then the RRP is false advertising (as in it can never be achieved) and I think most consumers would think the retailer is to blame but not true. Seems to be the wholesaler making the profit here.. unless I am wrong?

            • -1

@frugal investigator: Nah you're right. Their transparency is why they're getting a lot of up votes.

            • @frugal investigator: How is it false advertising when RRP stands for Recommended Retail Price? Is a recommendation something that everyone needs to abide by?

              • +2

@Vita85: The RRP can never be achieved by a retailer is the point. There is a vast difference if a retailer jacks up the price beyond RRP in response to supply and demand, but it’s not fair they cop the blame of price jacking when then the wholesaler is making it impossible for them. I don’t get wholesalers in the internet age, AMD should ship direct to retailers.

          • @Titan Tech: Hi Titan Tech just curious about the distributor pricing; doesn't AMD factory already have a set price for CPUs (like 1000 * 5600x for $400 each for example), of which its bulk pricing plus some margin would then allow retailers to sell at MSRP?
Or are distributors currently milking it thoroughly because they control supply to retailers, thus forcing retailers to sell well above MSRP?

            • @selphie: Distributors are milking it. Why wouldn't they when they've got nothing to sell most of the time? If shit isn't flying off the shelves then the price goes by RRP or a discount.

              • @Vita85: wouldn't AMD punish them for doing so? they're basically scalping the market!

                • @selphie: In what way? It's an RRP. They're going by supply and demand. Why is this any different then selling below the RRP or at a discount? Should AMD punish the distributors for selling below the RRP? This is just the opposite due to the current market conditions. I'm still surprised the price isn't higher. Months of nothing on shelves. We don't have a true supply and demand market. Nobody wants to put people off their brand by jacking up the price high enough to get stock on shelves.

        • -1

For anyone that neg me, does anyone work for the retailer? How do we know what they say is true?

How do you know that is the distributor or whole sale or retailer that is jacking the price?

          • -1

@humbala: At the end of the day what difference does it make?

            • @buckster: @buckster, at the end there is no difference really. Whoever willing to pay for the jack up price can go for it.

But just that there are people who praise for the 'honesty' and 'transparency' of the retailer, and start blaming on the 'distributor' that have no proof whatsoever.

I am ozbarginer - I look for things that is, in general, cheaper than RRP (or at least close to it if it's rare item), not praising for jacked up price.

              • +2

                @humbala:

But just that there are people who praise for the 'honesty' and 'transparency' of the retailer, and start blaming on the 'distributor' that have no proof whatsoever.

You have no proof either that it's the retailers but think about it for a second, if all the retailers are price fixing….. how many stores are there in the world? Are they all colluding together to fix the price? Wouldn't you expect price fixing lawsuits to pop up everywhere? It doesn't make any sense. What's stopping one individual from starting his own store only selling CPUs undercutting everyone? The reality is the price is being set at the top of the chain (AMD) and this is partially because their prices are also going up.

                • @BROKENKEYBOARD: I have no proof on anything since i do not work for any retail or distributor.

But just making $20 profit on something with such high demand item 'sound bs to me'. If people are willing to pay the jacked up price and they are gone in an afternoon (while everyone praising them as a hero), why would any retailer need to undercut anyone?

"The reality is the price is being set at the top of the chain (AMD)" <— any proof on that?

Bottomline - believe what you want to believe in, I will remain sceptical.

      • Wow and this whole time people, including myself, have been blaming retailers for jacking the prices. Thanks for the info

    • 3600 or the 10600k?

      • 10600k

      • +3

        3600

        Here's why:
10600k needs a $200+ motherboard to overclock and to run ram faster than 2666Mhz. Any b550 board will do both on ryzen.
        10600k is much more expensive.
        10600k uses more power.
3600 comes with a (admittedly, rather loud and borderline performing cooler)

        Buy the 3600, a $150 b550 board, 3600cl16 crucial ballistix $130, arctic freezer 34 (budget, $60) or noctua u12s (max performance, $120).

Save $70 on the cpu, $50+ on mobo, spend $20 extra on ram. Saving at least $100, more if you're happy with the stock cooler (I wasn't).

10600k is only 10% faster on average, if that. So you will get 120fps instead of 110. Not worth $100+ extra.

Alternatively, check the 10400f. $200 for almost 3600 performance. Still have to deal with the other intel issues mentioned above though.

        • The 10600kf (no discrete GPU) is more like a saving of ~$30. But then an ATX z490 board that isn't trash is more like $250, although it's $230 for a b550. If you don't want to OC you can save a good $50-70 on both.

I don't think the 3600 cl16 RAM is justified given the very marginal gains over 3200 cl16 for a substantially higher price.

If you're not GPU bound I think the 10600kf is worth it, but otherwise AMD still seems better. Unless you consider the 10400f/b460m combination, then AMD can't compete.

  • How much is shipping to BNE city? I really don't want to create an account just to see how much is the shipping cost. I really prefer sites which lets you calculate shipping before anything else. makes so much more sense.

    • Shipping is $11.95 Australia wide via Aus Post express service.

      • Hmm.. Still cheaper than Amazon by 6 bucks and faster shipping. Tempting.

        • +1

I don’t think it’ll be faster shipping than Amazon.. same probably but not faster … assuming they pick and post as soon as you order..

          • +4

@scud70: It's from AmazonUS. so I think that'll definitely be longer than auspost express.

            https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07STGGQ18/ref=ox_sc_sa…

            • @LennyT: Oh my bad didn’t realise that 🙃… then yes it’ll be way way quicker…

              • @scud70: All g. Who would have known its AmazonUS lol. Can't decide lol. Between this or the cheaper intel. I guess wait for rocket lake and decide.

                • @LennyT: Depends on what you want it for… Gaming wise save the money for a gpu (you'll need it that's for sure) and get a 10600k/kf, although I suggest do a comparison of a 3600 + mobo and an Intel + mobo and a 5600X n mobo… Unless you are already on amd B450… Then it's a bit more difficult as the new amds are over priced… Also if your gaming at 1440p high/ultra or 4k there is no point even the 3600 is more than adequate… 😊

                  • @scud70: What site can I do a comparison that you speak of? I don't think I'll upgrade my GPU soon ish. and I'll need a new mobo for both cpu's so no save eitherway.

                    • @LennyT: No specific site, I just keep an eye out here for good deals, I bought all my stuff from pretty much everywhere, distributor through work, umart, mwave, Amazon aus, Amazon us, Amazon UK, eBay loll I'd decided on an amd rig early so I was committed…then just kept an eye out on OzB for the parts… Like the Intels and the 3600 here for me are good prices… Also I watch alot of the tech tubers for ideas.. Hardware unboxed being a more middle.of the line good info channel…

        • and local stock, which will make warranty much easier

  • Do Titan Tech have 2nd gen in stock?

  • Lovely, have been on the look out to upgrade my 1600 with a 3600 for less than $300 for a bit. Missed out on a good cyber Monday deal because I left the tab open and went and actually did some work (gasp). For $281.95 total I'm reasonably happy.

    • +1

      Good for you JamesBrooks

    • Personally I would've gone for the 3600X, you can't put a price on how good it makes you feel on the inside and that your X is just a little bit faster than all the non X

      • I'll just have to hide my non-X shame behind my savings ;)

  • +2

Better to just buy marked up 5600x (in box) elsewhere for $549 and claim price protection later on in the year when prices will most likely stabilise. Also I think you should put 'tray only' in the title.

    • Pfft. Just claim on this. 28d won't know the difference between a tray and retail box. Besides, if the retail box goes lower than the tray (not vice versa) it really is the same thing. Why pay more initially?

You know there's a $20k lifetime cap that you're eating into with every claim, right?

    • Not everyone has a CC with that though

    • We confident that it'll drop within 12 months?

  • because I left the tab open and went and actually did some work

Slap yourself… hard… make it hurt..

  • +1

    Good price for R5 3600

  • what is the warranty like for the 5600x tray version?

    • 2 years :)

  • -7

    lol @ $20 profit

so basically you're telling us that after fees paying with cc you're making what $10? how do you run a business like that?

    • +12

Yeah, that's not how electronics work. Most online retailers work on very slim margins and depend on volume these days. That's the same with us. Occasionally we sell $5k+ cameras with single digit profit figures.

It's a race to the bottom line, but the competition is great for consumers like you where you really get the best deal.

    • +2

I bought the 5600x through a distributor as it came out and paid right on MSRP, currently the distributor has it listed for $495 ex gst so although the prices are high at retail level it is similar price hike at distribution level… and these type of small margins on computing and electronics are not surprising…

      • How did you buy through a distributor?

    • +17

We are not trying to turn a profit on the 5600x, Just trying to get them into the hands of people who will actually use and enjoy them as opposed to scalpers and system integrators putting a 500$ margin on the PC.

      • +4

        Not all heroes wear capes

      • Doesn't hurt to encourage a MB or RAM purchase to go along with your CPU… Hehe especially if it's flat rate shipping 😋

    • @lltravel People believe what they want to believe in, I question the same thing and I got neg to the death above.

  • +7

Can get a i9 10900k for 599 why would anyone buy AMD right now they are extremely overpriced!

    • +2

      Agree with you there

    • +1

The only reason to get this is if you already have an expensive B550 mobo or sth

even then will not be worth your money upgrading from lets say 3600x

  • You folks no longer do system deal? I guess no point of competing with your fellow Virco hey? From our stamp view, more competition always good.

    • +3

Oh, we will be competing ;)

The new website will be live soon with the new builds and ordering system. We are also opening a new warehouse (yay!) so we can handle a higher volume of orders without causing delays.

  • Looks like a bargain.
I like the look of your store, are the prices set or are they just discounts?

    • Most prices are set but feel free to message us and I'll see what we can do :)

If you like this store just wait till you see the new one in 1-2 weeks.

      • On the same web address? I'll keep tabs on it.

        • Should be live in the next 2 weeks :D

  • I don't get out of bed for less then a 3600x

  • +1

Ordering from overseas to an Australian address (as i often do), store seems to much easier to work with than some aussie stores. Very prompt replies and professional service.
Good price on the 3600 too which is appreciated. Popped up at the right time for me.

  • +6

people think over $500 for 5600X is a “good deal”

    rofl really?

I know the retailer is not trying to rip us off but that still doesnt make it a good deal a 10400F will get you 90% of the performance of this chip at less than half the price

    • +1

Yeah, At 1440p and above a 3600 will too

  • +4

Really wouldn't recommend buying from Titan tech.
I have been through so much issue dealing with Issac for their previous 5600x system deal.
Ended up cancelling 2 orders and 1 refund took 1 month to come through.
Just a warning to fellow ozbargainers.

  • Do I need to create an account to be able to order it? How much is shipping?

    • 11.95

  • Tempted with your AMD Ryzen 7 5800X but can't confirm if 'in stock'?

  • Looking at a possible new build. I know there are lots of things to consider. I basically want a decent MB w/USB-C front header, M.2 NVMe support (1 or 2), 6 ch sound. I don't do a lot of gaming, but the ability to would be good. Form factor: I like MiniITX, but isn't a deal-breaker. Knowing all of this, which of these a better choice, iyho?

    https://titantechit.com/amd-ryzen-5-3600-6-core-am4-3-6ghz-c…

    vs

    https://titantechit.com/intel-core-i5-10400-2-9-ghz-6-core-p…

    or

    https://www.computeralliance.com.au/parts?id=24611

    • If it is an ITX build, I would probably go for AMD since they use less power and typically generate less heat. (Hard to believe Intel is still on 14nm with their CPUs.) The motherboard might be a little pricey to get USB C and gen 2 NVMe in an ITX form factor. Not sure which boards do 6 channel sound …

  • Lol paid $510 for Ryzen 5600x just before Christmas and thought that was a ripoff then.

    • +1

      It was lol

  • Any deals on the 3600X or 3600XT?

  • +1

grabbed a 5900x yesterday from Newegg for $913. Shipped this morning, feel like i won lotto or something..so hard to get at this time.

  • Is the 5600 worth the extra money over the 3600?

    • Here is a comparison of their single core performance, which is critical to game fps. You can see that 5600X as a mid level CPU its single core performance is insane. Even i9-10900K is no opponent to it. And you can try to find where 3600X and 3600 are located in this graph.

      • Thanks for that. The 5600x was 643 and the 3600x was 505.

  • Paid $476 delivered for my retail 5600X which at the time thought it was a bit of a price to pay going from a 3600 but after months of seeing "Out of stock" it was okay I guess. However while waiting for the CPU the GPU I wanted also "Out of stock" jumped from around $1039 to $1200. The R5 5 3600 here is a reasonable deal and IMO they are a killer chip and probably a very sensible choice in these disturbing times.

  • $659 is a great price atm for a 5800x. Cheapest is $730 on static ice currently. I paid $749 a couple of weeks ago. They should sell fast.

  • -1

Pretty simply just don't buy at these prices 😜

  • Think that 2600 and 3600 has similar price!?

  • Hey interested in your 3600, I live in sydney city, how much would postage be? don't want to make an account in your site when I can't see delivery fees.

    • +1

Pick up from Forestville, 2087 is free, Otherwise shipping is a flat rate of $11.95 australia wide!

      • Cool mate, is the 3600 still in stock?

        • It is out of stock on the website but call me on 1800 011 341 and we can organize it for you :)
