Xbox Game Pass Ultimate $1 for first three months to currently unsubscribed. Seems to be new to Ultimate Game Pass, not valid if you have had ultimate previously. Works fine if you have had live gold.
I signed up yesterday and then cancelled immediately to avoid any further monthly charges, my sub says it will end on the 2nd of May.
I have had live gold in the past and could still sign up, no current membership.

Try creating a new account, as these subscriptions are applied console-wide.

The $1 for 3 months might not be repeated, but anytime the $1 for 1 month offer is active, you can.
On your regular account, you'll get access to multiplayer, as well as to the Ultimate Pass games (just start the install on the subscribed account), with the only thing you miss out on being the Ultimate Rewards program.

Did you ever have ultimate in the past or just Live Gold? I’ve had Ultimate before. I get the same limited time $1 message until I go to join then it shows $15.95
I haven't had ultimate before, perhaps that's the difference.

Make sure you buy 2 years of gold live before subscribing to this deal. About $160 from JB, or cheaper elsewhere if you can find it online.
It will then upgrade your gold live status to ultimate gamepass.
Works out to be just under $6 per month for gamepass ultimate for 2.5 years.

Wait so say I make a new account now, buy 12 month gold first and than upgrade and this upgrade goes for the life of the gold? (24 months don't seem to be anywhere to be found)
Or do I get only 3 months of ultimate? It is really not clear about that.
Buy 2 x 12 months of gold.
Add both to your account. You'll see your end date in 2023.
Then subscribe to this deal. It will tell you it's upgrading your gold status during the process.
Ah much appreciated mate! I actually went onto reading a bit about ultimate and it sounds like it is useless if you don’t have Xbox? I only have PC.

I have a "get 1 month free" offer included with a console I purchased, if I activate the free 1 month offer, will it turn into the "3 month"s as per OP?
I had "$1 for three months" offer but then it disappeared after I activated one free month of included subscription. After than, I could only subscribe for $1 for one month :(
The deal for 3 months has run dry and it's only $1 for the first month only now… hopefully comes back again
Not working for me, showing $15.95. I don’t have active subscription
