Great offer. Anyone who got in on the previous Airbnb offer now has $101 USD worth of it for free which is excellent.

Not a bad stock to own either, as they went public yesterday.

    • I signed up for that one too. Not bad. The GoPro made up for those hidden fee that Stake charged ($5 USD for form and $2 for deposit), but won’t use Stake, it’s expensive just to deposit and while other brokers offering instant deposit with card for free, Stake has Poli and still charge u fee. No, it’s not the cheapest, there are better options out there.

      • What would you suggest?

        • Etoro if ur not that active and only trade major stock. If ur active go with IG or IBKR, yes, they have inactivity fee but that can easily be avoided if ur active. Compare to Stake where depositing money cost u fee already

          • @hanofee: do you need id for any/all of those to join? which one would you recommend to an amateur (doesn't know anything about the stock market)?

          • +1

@hanofee: Do you not pay any FX fee when you deposit to eToro from your card? Which card do you use bro?

            • @nahkk: I use UP (tried Macquarie or 28degree before too). Happy with their conversion fee. Yes, naturally at 1 point you need to convert from AUD to USD. I found UP will do better than etoro itself (and yes, it's better than Stake too).
@OzBoganYeah: Any broker can ask for random ID check, nothing you can do to avoid that. My recommendation is to invest in ETF (check Ark if you like US one) or managed one like Spaceship rather than start investing in stock market without any knowledge though.

Apparently the default amount for deposit is AU$2500, so watch out and change this if only intending to deposit $50.

        Best to transfer in USD

$5 form is a once off

      • It isn't too bad, I think I only got charged small fee for the form that I submitted at the time of signing up and that was it. The trades are free and I think their website is great too, no complaints.

Is there a reason to downvote the deal somewhere in this drivel? Or do you just have an agenda?

        • Could work for selfweath

        • I downvoted because the way it's wording seems misleading to me, asking people to dip into the referral pool where there's no need. Have a look at how it's posted for AirBnb, that one was really helpful where this one is more confusing at best (the deal should have been for Bumble stock, rather than the user referral):
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/590587
It's same deal as that one, so not sure who has the agenda :)

  • Does their app/website work yet?

    • yeah the GME fiasco is over

  • Confusing. Which referral code to use? The one generated by the referral link or BUMBLE? surely you can only use one.

    • https://hellostake.com/referral-program?referrer=add generated code here

then when you sign up add Bumble

      • How is the code generated?

        • Well shit, already did it with the referer ID expecting there to be a seperate place for the Bumble code :/

          • @boomlogical: If it works like Airbnb last time, isn’t it Bumble will be the code, instead of the referral?

  • +1

bumble, not bubmle :) shows as invalid code for me…

  • same, bizarre it's not working. someone submit a ticket.

  • +3

    Too bad Stake sucks.

  • Bumble stock is sitting at US$80 at the moment.

  • I’ll take one apple share worth $175 please.

  • +3

Stake supports fractional shares so they will only credit you $39 USD worth no matter how high Bumble is currently trading at. Should probably clarify in the title (eg Free Portion of Bumble Stock Worth…)

  • what kind of id do you need? i don't know anything about the stockmarket so am wondering whether it's worth joining or not

  • Not sure if the referral info is correct?
"Referees and referrers get 1 Share of GoPro, Dropbox or Nike Stock."
Used a random referral and can't seem to find any shares. Would recommend using code "bumble" instead.

Looks like I shared personal information again for no gain -_-

    • You have to fund your account to get the referral stock.

      • So how much fees are there if I withdraw/sell straight away

  • +1

I'm surprised this keeps getting marketed as it is basically the same deal.

The platform itself is useless as you need to pay for limit orders and you'll lose money if you use stake black which is basically a core feature of stake.

Thus in the interests of ozbargain users, it may not be recommended to join unless you just want to rort the offer and leave.

  • great

  • To the people trying to scam it by using a referral code and then trying to add a bumble code, I don't know why you would risk it as it looks like your idea backfired as you can't enter 2 codes.

For people who didn't do this and simply signed up, have you tried to enter BUMBLE in to the referral box and it shows up as invalid? .. The promo is supposed to run for a while longer so not sure why they would pull it this early.

    • It wasn’t “scamming” it. The terms and conditions of the bumble code state you’d also get a second stock

      https://hellostake.com/docs/disclosures/bumble-free-stock-pr…

      Other Free Stock
Unrelated to this program, you can win a free stock in names such as GoPro, Dropbox or Nike when you fund your account for the first time.

It appears the bumble codes expired best I can see however. Using the referral link was taking me to a web page describing the bumble offer, where now it’s a generic page. The code also did not work in the app this morning when I tried regardless of whether I used a click through link or went through without using a link.

      • The terms and conditions of the bumble code state you’d also get a second stock

Then why are people trying to enter 2 codes by using a referral link first?

I've already redeemed the last promotion and I got 2 free stocks without trying to add 2 codes at once. I suspect you get 2 stocks by just entering BUMBLE.

So the people trying to use a referral link which adds a code and then try to add a second code may be screwed. ie. they get GPRO instead of $39 usd of bumble lol.

        • I don’t think you can use two links. The code “bumble” doesn’t work which is the issue people are having. People are trying to use the bumble code which grants two stock but it’s not a valid code.

      • +1

You'd get both offer if you just enter Bumble (that Bumble is equivalent to the usual referral code). Don't use the usual referral link. That GoPro draw is available for all new users anyway, referral or not. This Bumble will add the US $39 Bumble stock (fraction of the stock, regardless Bumble stock value). The referral is only adding benefit to the one referring, hence someone is trying to picture that you'd have to use both referral link and Bumble code.
Just enter Bumble if you want to take advantage of this, don't try the referral pool (yes, I'm there too, as disclaimer), you always get the GoPro draw on top if you fund the account for ALL new users anyway.

  • Too sketchy to sign up… don't know if you'll get it or not. pass

  • Be aware there are lots of users stating they are non-responsive to queries, and that they change the allowable trade mechanisms without any warning.

Funds put in by CC can't be withdrawn for 2 months. Other payment methods come and go without notice.

I've been with them for over 2 years, but have withdrawn the allowable max last week and moved to a broker who was not as affected by these issues.

    • +1

I don't think they should be running promotions to increase user count after their platforms were offline only barely a week ago due to load.

  • No, it didn't stack. I tried the AirBnb last time (I got AirBnb + GoPro stock, my friend got nothing as I couldn't enter 2 codes and had to choose AirBnb). You can only enter 1 referral code and the AirBnb (or this Bumble) is the equivalent as user's referral code. Their disclosure clearly said that Bumble is a referral code:
    https://hellostake.com/docs/disclosures/bumble-free-stock-pr…

  • The "Invalid Code" error is probably because the deal seems to have been terminated early by Stake.

  • invalid code too

  • How come I got charged $9 fees for transfer?

    • $5 usd for that W8 US tax form (one off, but other broker normally free) and $2 usd for every deposit. Convert that to aud.

      • No it said US$9 in the email so wondering where did extra $2 come from..

        • $2 for the express transfer option. I think it's selected by default

  • +1

I got a response from Stake after submitting a ticket about it, saying it was only available to UK customers. The T&Cs are now region blocked so I cannot confirm if this was actually the case in there.
I currently don't have a VPN while I'm at work, but someone else could check if they wanted: https://hellostake.com/docs/disclosures/bumble-free-stock-pr…

Wow. This company is actually pretty sloppy.

They have barely any employees listed on linkedin so I think they just don't have enough people to operate a company properly or to a decent standard.

      • I only half finished setting up my account, as I was waiting for response.
I'm wondering if I just don't bother now, and I go the tedious Commsec route and get a CHESS number and all that, maybe just go for reliability rather than ease

        • If you actually want to buy US shares, use Schwab.

I wouldn't use Stake but it is good purely to profit from their signup promo and referral bonuses.

Just updated this thread below with these details but wanted to directly reply, the original page clearly said that this was for Australia and New Zealand as well as the UK, so they are clearly changing the terms

You can view the web archive of the original page from the 13th https://web.archive.org/web/20210213043208/https://hellostak…

  • They have changed this, there was no mention of the UK criteria on Sunday night and the waybacktimemachine captured the page on the 13th. Can’t post screen shots here but this is a cut and paste from the original conditions:

    “Restrictions
This program is not available to :
Non-Individual accounts (SMSF, ISAs, Company and Minor accounts)
Customers who already have a funded account
Customers who already have an account with Stake (Individual accounts or otherwise)
Customers who do not use the referral code “BUMBLE” when signing up
Otherwise to Customers who do not meet the eligibility criteria during the Start and End times of this Program’

Notice the the customers outside of the UK has been added in the new version

Hopefully this link lets you view the original doc, https://web.archive.org/web/20210213043208/https://hellostak…

Also just noticed at the top of the page it clearly states Australia and New Zealand

“The Bumble IPO Free Stock Program (BIFSP) is run by Stakeshop Pty Ltd (Australia & New Zealand) and HelloStake Limited (United Kingdom). The program provides new Stake customers with a free share or up to $39USD of stock in Bumble once it lists publicly on the NASDAQ exchange.”

I signed up and funded my account during this promotion so feel pretty bad about the whole transaction and company now

    • I honestly thought this was the case, however I couldn't verify at the time that they had changed them.
      Pretty dodgy shit.
I was thinking about chasing them up and calling them out, but I think I'd be better off just deleting my account and telling them to remove my email and any other private information from their service.

      smh

  • For those having issues, if you contact support and provide screenshots of the original offer they should be able to add that bumble stock to your account as that's what the promo terms were at time of sign up

    • +1

Have you been successful in doing this? Do you have a screenshot of the original offer?

  • Yes I screenshotted the archived page linked above. Obviously you can crop the web archive frames around the side
