Rarely get good deals on Mont gear. They're awesome quality and an Australian company (Canberra). Get a good deal on next summer's bag.

Would be fine if you're camping with a car but it's very heavy for its warmth rating if you're hiking with it. Personally I wouldn't get a full bag for summer use either.

If you keep an eye on lwhiker.com you'd be able to find a much lighter preowned APEX quilt for around this price or slightly more.

    • Totally reasonable - it's not even close to ultralight. Would still do the job for anyone looking to give hiking a crack over three seasons (outside the Alps).

lwhiker.com a bunch of listings all close to retail price, mostly no photos and the worst web design ever lol. Just go in gumtree

It's just an indexer for the various outdoor gear trade forums around the internet. Click on the actual listings to see the photos.

These are niche products that are likely never listed on places like Gumtree. I picked up a barely used Enlightened Equipment Revelation for $150 shipped a few years ago using lwhiker. Good luck finding that on Gumtree.

Wonder how this would compare to the 0C Wanderer LiteFlame from BCF which is currently $120 but was on special a while back for around $60

Looks pretty similar. Similar temp rating, packed size and weight similar. I'd definitely go with Mont at $250 rrp vs a BCF home brand (correct me if I'm wrong?) at $120 rrp though if I wasn't too concerned about the price so long as it was sub $200.

Mont's stuff is genuinely quality and I have never had an issue with one of their products.

      • Be careful with temperature ratings. The Mont bag is EN tested whereas the BCF bag just makes unsubstantiated claims.

The Mont also has a YKK zipper and I'd be more trusting the 40D shell/lining is somewhat breathable compared to the '190T' shell on the BCF bag. Plus the 'hollow core insulation' is likely to be APEX, PrimaLoft, etc rather than just some generic polyester filling like in the BCF one.

        • Absolutely. Any one of those reasons is a good reason to buy a half decent bag (or insert any other equipment here) from a good brand than a cheapo one. Something like this will last a light user for their whole life basically. I'd wager the BCF bag might last five years.

        • What’s 190T??

@corgicorgi: Thread count. It means nothing without knowing the denier (thickness) of the fabric, which is the most important measure. I've only ever seen thread count advertised on cheap gear on AliExpress.
