    Ultra or bust, peeps.

Hmmm not bad for Snapdragon variants

Though would hold off until note 21 comes out as it MAY come with AMD internals.

But man O man very hard with the black s21 ultra variant. Looked great in jbhifi

    • Same, design of the S21 Ultra in Black looked amazing in person!

      • Big time. I went on Samsung edu store and added and took it out of the cart several times haha

        • +1

Have the phone, looks great and smooth to touch but I had to get a case because its too smooth and tend to slide out of my hand. Now I can't see the black :(

I thought note 21 not happening this year ?

    • Hopefully the note has an sd card slot.

Do these american variants support dual sim/eSIM?

  • Why would you want the SD variant?

  • +4

Not much difference in Exynos and SD versions this time. Rather read some reviews that SD 888 heats more than Exynos. So better off buying official AU version to have peace of mind for warranty purposes, and full compatibility with local networks. Plenty of S21 Ultra 256GB available on FB and GT for less than $1,400 with official Samsung invoices too. Sold by those having access to Telco, Govt and Education portals with Telco staff getting upto 50% discount.

Think Mrwhosetheboss' newest video on this is worth a watch too for those interested in the SD vs Exynos debate https://youtu.be/rsLJLk3nx8k

      • In real life, not much noticeable. Any differences, if any, are very minor and doesn’t impact normal use, or even gaming etc.

I have a Note 10 plus and I don't really like the curved screen, will never buy a phone with a curved screen in future.

    • +1

Curves on S21 series are almost negligible. It feels pretty flat, with just the right curves for smooth swapping.

  • Are they dual-nanosim unlike AU models which are nano+esim? Many OZBers are on prepaid which makes esim irrelevant.

    • They are dual nano sim

      • Does the 2 year ACL warranty still apply?
If so I will definitely buy this.

      • Do they both support 4g?

lol… where in the description do they say anything about ACL???? if you understood what ACL was, you would ask this question too before buying an imported phone worth in excess of $1000 AUD in Australia.

          for those less informed:
Australian Consumer Law (ACL) is legislation that was designed to protect Australian buyers when buying high value imported goods sold in Australia. Technology retailers with registered ABN/ACN's have an obligation to provide buyers a minimum of 2 years warranty against defects etc for high value technology goods sold in Australia. Although most importers only provide the statutory 12 month warranty, they hardly ever advertise ACL obligations in their terms & conditions, therefore the buyer/ consumer are within their rights to file a claim with ACCC for compensation/ recompense if their product is found to be defective within 24 months of their original purchase date.

          • -2

@genes888: ACL doesn't apply to imported stock, regardless if they're an Australian registered business. Everyone raves ACL this ACL that. Good luck getting ACL to get enforce anything on business owners that are based overseas. They will just laugh at any form of contact from them.

            • +2

@Sean8802: in the case of this particular seller, it does.
this seller has a physical store with a registered ABN and they actually sell the phones in store (I have been to the store myself).
Therefore they are obligated by law to adhere to ACL for the phones they sell, even if it's imported and shipped directly to the consumer.
if the seller was purely an e-store, then the buyer would have problems claiming ACL warranty on their phones.
Yes, filing a complaint & compensation claim with ACCC on ACL for imported goods can be a hassle, but if your case is valid and you have all the paperwork, the ACCC will protect you. I can attest to this as I have filed a complaint before and have successfully been compensated by the seller because of ACL. why else would ACL be there?

              • @genes888: Honestly ACCC in general is very hard to get a resolution from. And the process so long winded. I'd just get local stock for the extra couple of hundred. If for whatever reason it breaks in our outside of warranty at least Samsung will service the device and you won't need to send it overseas for repair.

                • +1

@Sean8802: yes, if price difference is marginal and specs are all the same, it's best to get local AU stock for peace of mind.
unfortunately for premium Samsung phones, many buyers are willing to take the risk of buying imported stock to get the better rated/ specced OS models.
from a sellers perspective, by acknowledging customers that the safety net of ACL is available with their purchase, it may just provide the right impetus for a buyer to click buy on that fancy new grey-import phone with better specs. win win for both imho…

                  • @genes888: Yup, I myself have on OS phone. But that is only due to it not being sold in Australia. Plus I have friends in the country I purchased it from so they can get it sorted a lot faster then a seller would. For the extra hundred if it was sold here I would of purchases it locally.

          • @genes888: Thanks for the reply genes888. Saved myself some time.

I commented on the post with my question, and THEN also commented my question as a reply to one of the store account/username comments so that they got a notification.

I asked the question for the first time on its own comments on the 8th, and for the 2nd time in a reply to the store's comment on another post. on 09/02/2021 - 08:12

Both times I asked similar to
"Does the 2 year ACL warranty still apply?
If so I will definitely buy this".

But the store account didn't reply to either of my comments.

However, they did reply to other questions about NFC from someone else on the 19/02/2021 - 14:55.

This makes me feel like they selectively ignored my comments.
Either way, leaves a bad enough taste in my mouth about non-responsiveness.
Sure they might have missed the message, but idk.

It is a brand new phone and it only lasted 10 days Iphone gives you exchange on the spot!!! now it is still being repaired and i am waiting for 20 days now.

  • My terrible S21 Ultra experience:

    19th Jan: I pre-ordered an S21Ultra in its online store .
1st Feb: I received it, very happy with phone and camero and the wirelss charging trio. Battery is a bit issue but ok.

10th Feb: It breaks down. It basically disconnects SIM card and drain battery 50% per hour by itself. I brought to the store, the staff says exchange/refund takes 2-3 weeks. A brand new Phone! IphoneOppo/Huawei gives you exchange on the spot! I said OK and leave my phone and let them do the exchange.

After 5 days, samsung online chat agent says it is a faulty phone and i will receive my exchange.

After 10 days, agent says due to availability it may take 3 weeks.

After 15 days, agent says my faulty phone is still on its way to the warehouse

After 20 days, the E-commerce team said due to availability, it will take another 3 weeks.

After 25 days, Samsung store said they just shipped my faulty phone to the warehouse.

After 30 days, the E-commerce team said the warehouse still did not received my phone. it will take another 30 days and i said it is NOT accepetable. after 2 hour phone call, they agree to give me a case manager to look into this issue.

After 35 days, E-commerce team the warehouse received it but forget to label it as "received". Now after 35 days my faulty phone is finally received by them.

After 40 days, they said a case manager is looking at my case again.

After 42 days, i received my exchange phone.
