When I asked for a better price they knocked $10 off making it $289. This is a full HD 1920 x 1080 and also will record to a USB memory stick

I misread the title as "Panasonic", but since it is a "Palsonic", I would be inclined to agree with you.
Agreed. Plus, if I was looking at a budget 32" set I probably wouldn't go any further than: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/60036
no deal
why would you? when can get the dick smith 32" @ $248 ? and that comes with free Home Delivery

(edit) mind you I can't find any info on the warranty on the dicksmith 32" maybe that only has one year
The DS one will cost you $75 to bring the warranty up to 3 years so total cost is $323
The DS one is HD this one is full HD
This one can record to a USB memory stick, no mention of that on the DS one.Only a fool would pay over 30% of the purchase price for extended warranty on a $248 TV, there is also statutory warranty. However, if you really wanted extended then you could easily get it way cheaper by shopping around. I wouldn't pay over 10% personally, if at all…Choice magazine concluded that these insurance policies are effectively useless!
I would defy anyone to pick the difference between 1080p & 720p on a 32" screen at anything greater than nose-bending range…the human eye just doesn't work that well.
I have three TVs in my house that have PVR function, I don't use it on any of them!
Take home message, IMHO save the $50. Alternatively, check out the Kogan $199 pre-order deal Penthius mentioned in the DSE deal thread http://www.kogan.com.au/shop/32-lcd-tv-hd-tuner-pvr-aca/
i would take a palsonic branded tv over anything from DSE's home brands.
edit: that's only because my experience with them has been 100% satisfacory. (two tv's in the family, a 34cm and an 80cm, both CRTs that lasted close to 8 years problem free before being upgraded).
Six of one, half a dozen of the other really…they both most likely come out of the same factory or manufacturing group in China anyway! ;)
I bought the DSE 32" for $226.
I like the 3-year warranty of the Palsonic but there is uncertainty over its picture quality, despite it being Full HD. On the other hand, I see plenty of positive reviews of the DSE.
$226? How?
What I ended up doing was I bought this TV at $248, then I bought the cheapest thing I could find with free shipping, to bring the total to just over $250, which allowed me to use the coupon K24XDH863L mentioned in another post to deduct a further $25 off.
The end result is that I got this TV with free shipping for around $226.
no excuse when the dicksmith 40' could be bought for 340~
