  I wonder how optimised the purples are to surveilliance duty and if they could handle basic media sharing. I couldnt see why not.

    They don’t like being shutdown (parked) often, ie: disable power savings and keep the drive in use.
    Like a spinning top most wear/imbalance occurs when spinning down and spinning up.

      a waste of power but most NAS's would allow you to leave the head in read mode all the time.
