300 nits. 8gb is soldered. Price seems good but i think id prefer the amd version

  • I preferred the one below, so bought it, but it seems to be much more expensive or OOS now.
16GB RAM, larger storage, faster AMD CPU and better screen

16gb should be standard these days. If its 8gb then it should be upgradable in the future and not soldered

    • With SSD does the extra 8Gb make that much of a difference these days?

Even super fast and ultra low latency SSD like Intel's Optane products couldn't fully compensate for the lack of RAM. You can see Linus test video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwy4ujt0qHM

But that's kind of irrelevant since Intel Optane also kind of went the way of the dodo in consumer products and the SSD that's being included in this Lenovo is probably not going to be anywhere near as fast as Optane memory (i.e. not good enough to compensate for lack of RAM).

As a typical office laptop where you're just opening a bunch of documents and using the web browser — I'd say 8GB of RAM paired with a NVME SSD is probably good enough. You certainly won't want to be doing heavier tasks like Photoshop or video editing on such limited memory though — your CPU will be under-utilised in this scenario.
