Thanks to Poombear these are now $149 at JB with Amazon price matching with free delivery if you prefer. Beating that previous Harvey Norman/Amazon $158 deal.

A cheaper alternative to the Momentum True Wireless 2, for those that are happy to give up ANC. From SoundGuys:

Which is better, the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 2.0 or the CX 400BT?
Long story short: these are very similar true wireless earphones, mostly because they share a lot of parts. However, there are some key differences that you should be aware of. These differences are mainly relegated to their creature comforts, or what we lovingly call the “nice-to-haves.”

They look different, but the guts are the same.

For example, the CX 400BT don’t have any IP rating, nor do they have active noise canceling. While that may not sound like a big deal, I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that ANC is probably one of the best features you can have on a commute. Missing that on expensive earphones can sting a little bit, but you may not need it when you’re sitting at home, or at the gym.

At the end of the day, the reason you’d buy the CX 400BT over the Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 2.0 is mostly an economic one because the audio quality is so similar. I mean, they have the same drivers after all. If you have the extra cash and already like the CX 400BT: the MOMENTUM True Wireless 2.0 are a no-brainer.

How do these compare to yhe Momentum TW (version 1) which were very recently $99?

  • Do these allow sound from two devices at the same time, or does any sound from your phone interrupt sound from your laptop?

    • You want sound mixing? I'm not sure that there are ANY tws that support that! (There are not even many bluetooth headphones that support that - and they would be mainly gaming ones)

These don't even support multipoint (not many tws do, besides Jabras), so you can't even do the second thing (connect to two devices simultaneously), let alone the first (mix audio souces)!

      • The b&w px supports it.

        • Hence “not many”.

Edit: Wait, are you sure the B&W does source mixing? In my quick google, I couldn’t find any reference to that (it does multipoint, but that is different from source mixing)

Edit: If you meant the B&W does multipoint, then yes - but that is not a TWS!!! (Are you confusing TWS (True Wireless Stereo earphones) with wireless/bluetooth headphones?)

          • @caprimulgus: I've tried it on the px in person. They were too small for my ears though.

            • @tor: WHAT have you tried on the PX in person? When you say “it”, what are you referring to: multipoint or source mixing?

If it supports sound mixing, then that is strange they haven’t promoted that!

In any case: I already said that some headphones support sound mixing - but very few! And I am not aware of any TWS that support it!!

              • @caprimulgus: I might have been mistaken. It's probably the Sennheiser mb pro 2 that I tried that supported mixing. I have that headset still, but rarely use it due to the awful music playback quality. I tried it around the same time as I tried the PX, so must have mixed them up.

                • @tor: Honestly, I think you are confusing multipoint (simultaneous CONNECTION to two devices) and audio mixing (simultaneous PLAYBACK of sound from two devices - you can hear sound from both devices at the same time).

                  But anyway…the CX 400BT does neither! :)

So i ended up picking up my Sennheiser CX 400BT earbuds today and i’m pretty damn impressed. Coming from the jbl reflect flow these sound tons better. Great base and awesome clarity. I read online that they aren’t as loud as some people want but i’m a notch or two from full volume and it’s just about too loud for me. Touch controls seem to work well too. Overall i’m very happy for $150. I didn’t need the ANC or any other sensors so I’m happy with my purchase.

  • Sennheiser CX400BT and Audio Technica CK3TW are the best true wireless earphones currently in my opinion when comparing the price and features. They do what they are supposed to do excellently which is play music. The controls are responsive. Call quality is good. There are no unecessary bells and whistles that increase the price and impact the sound quality.

Audio Technica CK3TW is slightly better in my personal option.
