Game design student?
No big discount no purchase.
Thanks op
Why?
Bad black levels, terrible local dimming. That asking price is crazy.

Bad black levels in relation to what? It's 3 times as much as the nano IPS panels
Look at the review. For the asking price the dimming is awful
Once again, in comparison to which monitor? It has a native contrast of around 2000:1 which is leaps and bounds better than the 800:1 that Nano IPS panels offer in this price range. What monitor can you buy that isn't $1000 more that has FALD?
You can buy a 55" LG OLED TV for around this price.
Which would be useless on virtually every desk
it's only 6" bigger than the super useful 49" monitor.
I don't know of a desk that can't fit 55" but can fit 49" no problem. I would assume if 55" is useless on virtually every desk, then 49" would be useless on virtually almost every desk.
Lol.
No idea.
55 inch TV's are 70cm high mate plus the stand. Do you understand what aspect ratio this is? It's two 27s side by side. Embarrassing.
lostn If you like neck problems go ahead mate
any experience running these as dual monitors for spreadsheets?
/S
I have the older 120hz model and use it for work as 2 X 27" monitors in split screen. It works well but you'll need to run two cables to it if using it this way. I use the full screen from my gaming PC. It is slightly annoying switching between the two configurations and there is no way to use the shortcut keys to do this.
In my opinion this 240hz monitor is overkill given the resolution is only just shy of 4K. Most people struggle to get 60fps at 4k let alone 240fps.
Do you mean buying two of them? If you wanted two of these side by side, you'd spend a lot of your time turn your neck… a lot.
If you wanted them one on top of the other, you'll need a really strong monitor arm with a good height extension to get the top monitor working successfully. I've considered adding a second 49" on top of my existing, but even with my humanscale monitor arms, it's not going to work.
The LG CX OLED (OLED55CXPTA) might be a better option (than two 49"s) with software like Display Fusion to help you split your screen into virtual displays.
friends got this monitor and i like the idea of it… but is there anything similar thats like…… closer to 1k?
i mainly use it for photoshop & ableton and am getting sick of multiple 30" monitors… gamings good but i dont need the most outlandish performance.
Nothing to do with education.
