  • This is the first time I’m trying to buy from the Microsoft website.
I signed in using a hotmail account that I have been using for years but the payment couldn’t be processed and the error msg asked me to contact their support. I contacted their online chat and raised a case for not being able to pay. They came back and asked me to try a different account. So I tried my partner’s live.com.au account. However the payment still failed with the same error msg. I then tried paying with my partner’s Amex card which also failed. So I contacted their support again and escalated the issue.

This is their latest response :

    ‘Hi,

    This is Aya from Microsoft.

We have escalated your case regarding the issue you're encountering in making a purchase and I've got an update from our backend team. We have performed a thorough analysis of the account and due to suspicious activity with this account, we will not be reinstating and supporting further purchases.

To get the item you're planning to purchase, what we can suggest is to please check other retailers. I understand the inconvenience this places on you, but we will be unable to provide further assistance regarding any transactions.

We are hoping for your kind understanding.

    Kind regards,

Aya - Consultant | Microsoft Store Support Team’

I found the response quite offensive. I think they are implying that I’m a fraudster and engaging suspicious activities. They have never asked me to provide IDs or anything. I’m quite shocked that they could treat genuine customers like this. They could just ask customers to go away without even 1. Telling you why 2. Seeking information/identification to address any security concerns (if any).
