  • Good price!

  • Have this from work for work laptop, works great (love the powered on feature from usb c). Tried to my personal 45w laptop, it gets disconnected quite often, maybe its just not compatible with mine specifically

    • It's the cable, the end at the base fails. We saw a few of these at work have connection issues on our various xps laptops.

  • $360.66 is the official discounted price. I have checked now. How could get this price and link?

    • It shows up as $342 for me when I click through.

      • -1

Yes, I know. you can find if you visit the dell website, not through the above link.
        Discounted price $360.66 from $563.53(not $535)

ridiculous system, I ordered $360.00(from $563.53) through their webpage and new deal's link this morning.
but above link, through the shop menu, $342.40(from $535) it shows this term's special discount starting from today and online order discount from the original price. I cancelled prior one and re-order now. thanks, op

    *doesn't come with 19TB drive

    Cheaper on Amazon au.

    • +1

So how much cheaper and where is the link? I have looked and do not see this item for less.

  • +1

Bought one to use with my new XPS 13 and working well so far.

I like that everything is now connected to my XPS through one Thunderbolt Port. So if I need to take my laptop away from my WFH station I just have to unplug the one cable which connects the dock to my XPS (as opposed to unplugging power, and any other cables attached to my laptop).

  • Are there any other docks from cheaper brands who do the same thing?

    • Many USB C docks on Amazon. But this is designed for Dell and will charge your laptop at the correct rating.

Personally I have this dock for work and have been having trouble with it running 2 x 4k screens

      • +1

@thypeople what laptop and screens? I want it to run 2x4k of my Dell latitude because the D6000 can't handle it.

        • @Bones78
Precision 5530 (with NVIDIA Quadro2000) and wd19tb. Trying to run 2x Dell UP3219Q.
I seem to end up with one Running at 4K one at 2K, plus the inbuilt display at 4K.

Yesterday it was trying to run the screens at 29hz. Not pretty.

          • @Thypeople: @thypeople
Bugger, I have a Precision coming and i'm running 2x Dell S2721Q's. Sounds like i'm going to have the same problems i'm having now.

Do you think it could be a driver issue?

    • +1

I got two of the non-thunderbolt version pre-owned on eBay for a much lower cost. Still charges the laptop at the correct ratings and given I have just one 3440 x 1440 screen it works perfectly. When you start moving into multiple monitors or even higher resolutions then that's when you might want thunderbolt.

      • can you please recommend one. Been looking for one but couldnt decide.

        • I have the Dell WD19.

      • You have the USB-C (non-thunderbolt) WD19? What Hz does it support at 3440×1440?

It says 4K@30Hz, but I'm wondering if it can do 3440x1440@60Hz, given the lower resolution.

        • +1

Yes it does it 3440 x 1440 at 60 Hz on my XPS 17. It also did it on my old Inspiron 7590. And it charges both at the full 130 w if you buy the version with the 180 w power supply.

      • I also have the WD19 (non TB), can't seem to find the difference, is the TB version just more bandwidth for more displays?

        • The TB version is thunderbolt rather than just regular USB-C. I believe like you say the main benefit is capacity for more displays, with higher resolution and higher refresh rates.

  • Would this work on Macbook Pro with 2 x 4k monitors?

  • What’s the diff between this and D6000

    • +1

AFAIK, D6000 uses DisplayLink (uses your CPU rather than GPU). Might be fine for productivity use, but definitely not gaming.

WD19 series will use "alt mode" or "Display Port over USB-C", or Thunderbolt, and is directly connecting with the GPU. Performance will be much better.

      • I would suspect the D6000 also does not have as high power output either.

      • I have a D6000 and could be wrong (my lappy doesn't have USB-C PD), but I'm not aware the D6000 has Power Delivery. The D6000 is more 'versatile' in that the cable has USB-A and USB-C (you probably know this already), but this WD19TB actually supports Thunderbolt 3 bandwidth - so if your laptop has Thunderbolt 3 you have more bandwidth for supporting video (refer @caprimulgus comment above).

  • Great price.
I bought this, but it wasn’t compatible with my work laptop. I didn’t realise the work laptop had USB-C but not Thunderbolt.
It could only drive one of my external 4K displays via USB-C. Need to connect the other monitor via HDMI.

It can charge the notebook, but gives an error on boot, and need to press F1 to continue.

I was going to return it, for a cheaper model, and started going through the motions, but thought I might get a notebook from work with thunderbolt one day.

Would be much cooler just needing one cable to plug in. Maybe one day.

  • This is apparently a good dock but we're about to go to USB 4 products soon, I'd seriously consider waiting if you're spending this much coin.

  • can the on/off button on the dock work on non dell laptops?
i'm using it with a lenovo x1 carbon.

    any pointers?

  • Does anyone know if this will work with an Intel NUC? (Bean Canyon)
