So tempted to ditch my ryobi’s and go for this…

    • Me too…..cracking price.

    • Yeah, especially since it’s takes ages for the new models and skins to come out here.

      • +1

Can you use AU batteries with overseas skins?

        • Yes but a US charger needs an adapter for AUS.

          • @xtraterrestrial: But if you can use AU battery packs with the US skins why do you need a US charger?

            • +2

@serpserpserp: That's not even close to what he said

              • @mickeyjuiceman: I wasn't asking about US chargers so i'm a little confused. But thanks for helping.

                • @serpserpserp: Because this is sold by Amazon US the kit does not come with a charger that is suitable for AUS power, hence you will need an adapter. This might be a cheap deal but you need to buy something else to make it work.

                  • @xtraterrestrial: But you don't if it works with an AU battery pack which was my question. Because you already have a charger with that.

  • Wow… great price!
Tempted.. I not long ago upgraded to AEG because I couldn't afford DeWalt… but this!!!

    • +5

AEG big step up from ryobi ozito

      • +2

This. Unless you're outperforming the AEGs I wouldn't bother moving on from them.

  • Hell of a good price

  • +1

Could you repurpose the Reciprocating saw as a Massage gun?

    • +6

"massage" gun? I believe there are forums for this 🤣

    • Well it will certainly get rid of aches and pains, once you get over the initial scratch…

  • Doesn't come with a AU charger & Dewalt warranty. Good price though if your already in that ecosystem.

    • +1

I already have an AU charger so this is tempting. Lack of a warranty is an issue, but I've never needed to use the warranty on any Dewalt gear before…

      • +4

        Amazon warranty is even better

        • what is this Amazon warranty? Is it like Costco's?

    • +6

Amazon will deal with Dewalt for warranty, you just need to contact Amazon and they will send you a mail label, you just drop the thing to their collection point.
      3 years warranty

  • -5

Noting also this is the new US standard 20V not the 18v/56v Aus models.

    • +2

18V also works without any issue

    • +4

      Same shit

    • +1

18v is the same as US 20V
      It’s just a marketing name

      Same with 54v/60v

    • +1

20v is the max voltage the battery can charge to. 18v is nominal. Identical battery systems. Different marketing speak.

    • -3

Not sure why you're getting downvoted for noting a difference.

      • because there's no difference

  • +6

Nominal voltage of 18650 cells (which they use in these battery packs) is 3.7V, series in 5= 18.5V ~18V
    Fully charged voltage of 18650 cells is 4.2V, series in 5 = 21V ~20V.

    18V, 18.5V, 20V, 21V same thing, marketing gimmick

  • Got one. Good price and a handy combo pack for once.

  • Excellent, only need batteries actually

  • also 5 tools
    https://www.amazon.com.au/DEWALT-Combo-Compact-5-Tool-DCK521…?

both are not really good deal.

    • Circular Saw and angle grinder look much better than the woosey reciprocating saw in the other deal
Shipping is a killer on this one, not free unfortunately..for Prime

Worth noting, these are the low-powered 'Atomic' versions. Good enough for light duty home use and may not be as durable as the regular Dewalt lines. Atomic versions have always been around half the price of regular tools.

    • Atomic range is dewalt's answer to Milwaukee's 12v compact line.

I have not seen anywhere stated these are for "light duty home use"

I can't seem to find their skins half the price either.

It appears to be marketed as quality, brushless, light weight and compact power tools. Perfect for a sparky or plumber

    • +1

"Dewalt says that the new Atomic series compact cordless power tools combine performance and durability in a compact format. It is optimized for tight spaces, overhead work, and for long periods of use. The tools are optimized for overhead work and long periods of use.

They’re aiming the new 20V Max Atomic cordless power tools at general contractors, remodelers, electricians, mechanical and HVAC tradespeople, plumbers, and cabinetry and furniture builders. In other words, all of the types of users who are typically interested in Dewalt cordless power tools and accessories."

  • I already have a Dewalt 18v drill and an impact driver. Would it make sense to order this just for the multitool and reciprocating saw, then sell the extra drill and impact driver on Ebay?

  • On a side note. Anyone around Redbank want to swap some batteries? I have a 5ah one I want to swap for some smaller 2ah ones.

  • Won't the battery charger be US socket and 110v?

    • Thinking it will be

    • +1

      Input: 100-260V
      US Socket = yes

  • Edit:working now

    Link not working?

  • very good price, ~2k5 clicks but only 23 up vote, i already have milwaukee but thanks op

  • The batteries seem quite small, do they last a decent time

  • Which is the 'better' (value, money and durability, etc) brand; ryobi or dewalt? Is this like ryobi where 1 battery fits any dewalt tool? And can you just plug the us plug into those au universal chargers/plugs to charge the tools?

    • Depends if u do the odd job ryobi should be fine. If lots of job diy peob go with dewalt

  • Ships from USA means GST to pay (should show up in the price at check out).

Yes, there is a full manufacturer's warranty but contact the Australian importer DeWalt importer to check whether they support the warranty of whether you are you left with the problem of dealing with the seller or direct with DeWalt? Most importers will not do it.

    • GST to pay (should show up in the price at check out).

All items have GST, it already shows up when you view the item. You don't have to go to checkout to see the final price — free shipping for Amazon Prime AU members for orders over $49.

    • amazon

  • It’s back on for a small increase in price. Enjoy

  • +2

    Just received mine today.

Worth mentioning that the charger that comes with it is 120v input only - i.e. can't be used on a 240v Australian outlet with a US-AUS plug adaptor. You will either need an Australian voltage charger (mine appears to work fine) or a step-down transformer to use this safely.

Given I had a charger already this is a great deal for me, but ymmv.

    • Wow, I'm surprised that even a country like the US (I have a pretty low opinion of them, but still) isn't using universal voltage chargers.

    • I was a little surprised too!

      • Hey mate, does your AU 18v charger works fine with this 20V battery?

        • +2

As noted above, it's the same battery with a new name

        • Yep - all fine

    • +1

      Hi mate
I also ordered the dewault deal
But my order seems stuck and the tracking is not updated.
May I know, whether you received your goods in expected time and did you have any issues like that?
I ordered the item on 29th jan, shipped on 6th feb, from there onwards tracking is not been updated. It was expected to deliver by 26th feb.
      Cheers

      • same to me, I ordered it on 2 Feb and still stuck from the delivery, the tracking never been updated. I called Amazon to have got the refund.

  • Bad move from amazon.
I've been waiting for a month without update, and they just refunded the money without saying anything…
